The location of this restaurant is absolutely perfect. They have an outdoor patio that overlooks the water and the inside is beautiful with large windows of the view. We did not have the best experience with the service unfortunately. Our reservation table was not ready on arrival and nobody came up to our table to greet or take our drink order until around 20 minutes after we sat down. We also had requested to sit outside and they reported that they didn't have a table for this. I checked outside after and they had multiple tables outside open. A cool Sunday afternoon on our trek back home we stopped here for dinner. Recommended by our Uber driver on a previous trip. Not very busy at the time, we sat out on the back patio. The host and the server asked us a couple of times if we were sure we wanted to sit outside since it was a bit chilly. But our minds were set and we were happy with our decision to sit outside; enjoying the fresh air and sunset views. And really it wasn't too bad at all with a light sweater on. The inside of the restaurant was rather warm which is perhaps why they thought it was so cold out on the back patio. Their cocktail list was classic and not overwhelming. I chose the Negroni. Dinner was the Mahi Po-Boy sandwich. Fish was cooked to perfection. Sandwich wasn't super fancy or overloaded with fillings. Just a light drizzle of cucumber aioli and a little coleslaw mixture. My only complaint is that the bread was a little too heavy or thick, it took away from the overall light flavor and texture of the fish. Perhaps something a little thinner would complement it more? Final thoughts: worth the view, relaxed environment, a step away from the busier main streets, feels more local and less touristy than the surrounding area. read more

Ordered an espresso martini that looked like it was poured straight from the river behind the bar--thick, brown, and mildly concerning. Naturally, I renamed it "The River Water." Fortunately, it tasted way better than it looked. Honestly? One of the best I've had. We generously offered Malik some truly awful pick-up lines for his future use (he pretended to be grateful), and he kindly informed me that my singing could clear the bar. Fair. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. The only redeeming quality? The location--and even that felt wasted. I can't comment on the food because we never made it that far. My wife and I were seated by the hostess, menus in hand, and then... nothing. For 20 minutes. The place wasn't busy--just a few tables scattered with diners--and yet multiple servers strolled past us like we were invisible. No "hello," no water, no "I'll be right with you." Finally, I told the hostess we hadn't been greeted and would be leaving if someone didn't show up ASAP. She apologized and admitted she'd forgotten to tell the waitress we existed. The waitress eventually appeared, clearly annoyed. She claimed she'd just been told about our table--despite serving the people right next to us. The worst restaurant experience we have had in a long time. I ordered the cod fish fry on a Friday night. It and the mashed potatoes came out cold. As if this was not enough, my wife's baked potato was so underdone she couldn't possibly eat it. The server did a very good job. My wife had the Filet Mignon, and it wasn't seasoned well. The green beans were not seasoned at all and seemed clearly to be frozen green beans, and the mashed potatoes were okay at best. My wife didn't eat them. I had the chicken and waffles. When you think of chicken and waffles, you think of good waffles and a nice piece of fried chicken. I have included a picture of what I got. The thing that is crazy is that they have fried chicken on the menu. It wouldn't be much more difficult to put a real piece of chicken on the waffles (which were tasty) and make it a more elevated meal compared to the "popcorn chicken" that came with the waffles. Our kids got a pizza, and they did eat all of that. It was fairly good. The ambiance of the restaurant is really quite nice, and the view of the river is very nice. The drinks from the bar were tasty. It's a shame that the food was sub par. This place could be really good if the food was improved. read more

Absolutely loved my experience here! Decided to eat here for a nice dinner with my boyfriend, and I'm so glad we did. The inside had a great ambiance and the view from the window that our table faced was so pretty We even saw a fox run across the frozen river. The service was great. Our server was so nice and super helpful without being overbearing. The food was also sooo good! I loved my fettuccine alfredo with shrimp, and my boyfriend loved the miso ramen. In short: the only saving graces are their cocktails and mediocre overlook of the river. The first thing that was annoying is that it's entirely misleading; there is neither a single vegan item on their menu nor a vegetarian option, even the fries are smothered in beef fat. Secondly, our waitress (some brunette with a thick accent) was rude from the second she interacted with us. From her condescending tone to snarky comments, I don't know why she chose service as her profession; hospitality is clearly not her forté. I asked her if I could sub out an item containing mushrooms since I have an intolerance, and she said no I would only get my main and vegetable, for $30. I enquired about paying for a substitution, but she just walked away before I was done talking. The food was pretty good, not entirely worth the price, but I get they're trying to sell that "bougie" atmosphere. If we could leave less than one star, we would. We sat ourselves and ordered food and drinks right away. There happened to be a table that had just finished dining when we sat down. Their half-eaten plates sat on their table with flies swarming them for the entirety of our experience at the boathouse (roughly an hour and a half). Our coffees took over a half an hour to arrive. In the meantime, we all finished our waters and never saw our waitress once, so our waters sat there empty. I should also mention that we were one of only three tables. I ordered a shake, which our waitress completely forget about. Upon reminding our waitress that I had ordered a shake an hour ago, she brought it out with no apology and still put it on the bill. Fast forward to our food actually coming out, we were excited to eat as we had been waiting for nearly an hour. Two of our four plates had hair in the food, which was the last straw for us. Putting the hair aside, the food itself wasn't even good. Our waitress took both of the plates that had hair on them and took them off our bill and did not bring out any food as an apology or at least a replacement. The only thing she had to say was "Jesus f***ing Christ". The manager came out and did not offer a solution to our terrible dining experience. Not only was this the worst dining experience we had ever had, the response from management was terrible. We left after waiting an hour and not even enjoying a nice meal, or even a meal at all. Do NOT eat here, you will regret it the second you order your food. Oh and by the way, our waters still never got refilled. read more

We've talked about stopping here a few times and finally did around 3:30 on a Saturday. There was one person at the bar and another guy sitting at a table, definitely an employee that didn't even acknowledge us standing there waiting to be seated like the sign said to do. We weren't sure if they were even open but once someone finally seated us we were handed a lunch menu but were told to order drinks and wait for dinner that started at 4. Then why hand out a lunch menu if you don't really want to serve it? The waiter was friendly but seemed a little pushy. The prices are a bit much so we basically felt obligated to order a couple extra drinks just to not "look cheap". We tried the old fashioned and the peach old fashioned, both were pretty good. We also had a drink that I can't remember lol and the door county mule which was ok. The only food we got was the poutine. It was meh...we were the only people in the restaurant so it should've been fresh and hot but it wasn't, it was lukewarm at best. And for $17, I expected a little more. Waiter was ok, recommended the prime rib, of course, because it's like $46 and I think he just wanted a bigger tip. When we got our receipt he didn't even remember to charge us for the second drink we each had, luckily for the business were honest people and said something. Cannot recommend this restaurant for when you are in the Dells. With the price and beautiful views we expected a laid back and higher quality meal, however we were constantly interrupted by extremely loud music being blasted from one of the docked boats. A shirtless, drunk dude with nipple piercings proceeded to barge himself next to our spot on the patio to connect to his boat speaker and blast his tunes. We ended up moving inside but the shirtless man continued coming in and out making a scene every time he appeared. The staff did nothing to rectify his antics or make our meal experience better. The girls and I stay at the Inn at least once a year during off season.. Each time we've been there, it's been nothing but great hospitality from the room to dining. We returned once again this year and like always, had the best time! Since most restaurants don't open until 10-11a, we decided to just dine in at the Vue. All of us ordered the steak and eggs with endless amounts of coffee! We love our steaks as rare as it can be and when we placed our orders, we had asked the waitress to ask the chef to make it as rare as possibly. (Being sick will be our own fault lol) when we recieved our food, it was just as we ordered. Rare steak with over easy eggs. Service was amazing and good couldn't have been any better! For dinner we ended up ordering a variety of things and everything turned out perfect! Same server who served us for breakfast and we wished we caught her name because she was just super friendly. I came here with my family for a 30th birthday. We had a large party and about 4 babies. Yikes! Poor server. Anyway I loved everything. The ambiance is beautiful of course. We sat near the windows so we could look at the water. Jane was the server for my half of the table. She was knowledgable and patient. I have an allergy and she made sure to double check everything I ordered just in case. I had a yummy drink that I of course forgot the name of (you can see a little of it in the photo). I did love the chocolate martini that I had for dessert. For dinner, I had the salmon and mushroom risotto. Salmon can often be bland in restaurants, but this one was delicious. Bad dining experience- server trying to upsell our 9 y/o kid more food she didnt ask for, notoriously slow service despite the dining area mostly empty - another family walked in and was seated after we ordered, yet they received their food AND had a server check in on them 5 mins later, all before we we were served or food. When the food got here, half of it was missing/incomplete or incorrect. They gave us the wrong filling in the crepes, and didnt serve it with the bacon that was ordered. When our kid brought this up, they said they'd redo it - so they took her plate and left her without food for 20 mins. We came in looking for a nicer meal than bar food, which it was. But, I'm not sure it lived up to the prices on the menu. The vibe is relaxed. There were several larger groups so my partner and I were sat at one one the tables that faces the windows. It's a bit awkward sitting side by side for dinner and while a cute concept, there really isn't anything to look at out the windows when it's dark outside. We ordered the green apple old fashioned and a Manhattan. Neither was great, but definitely avoid the Manhattan if you are used to drinking a classic Manhattan. This Manhattan had obviously been watered down with at least a 1/3 cup of water and it was served over small ice cubes. Not a good cocktail and definitely not a Manhattan. We ordered the sirloin and the Walleye. My partner order the stake medium and it came out medium-well. Not so overdone to send it back, but not what was ordered. Mash potatoes were a bit lumpy and cold. Green beans and mushrooms were yummy. I ordered the walleye which was definitely the star of the night. Perfectly cooked! Unfortunately the risotto was overly creamy and quite heavy. Our server was lovely. He was attentive and friendly the whole time and comped the Manhattan without me even asking him to. This was our first time to the Dells for a quick weekend get way. We probably won't come back to this dinner spot, but glad we gave it a try. I ordered the walleye and it was over risotto with peas and everything was very delicious. My wife had the chicken marsala which was excellent as well. We stopped in for an early dinner, it was empty aside for about 3 people at the bar. Sign said wait to be seated and we waited over 10 mins before we were even acknowledged after the bar tender walked by us at least 3 times.
