I am completely disappointed in any negative review of the Red Apple Restaurant, it is Exactly as I would want, and get everytime I visit, whether for a meal or just to meet up for coffee. The food is more than plentiful, and always measures up to expectations! If you can appreciate a "Friend" serving you, that how they make me feel every time I visit. I was in town for the day for the CP Holiday Train that's been going on for like 20 years now so I planned on having lunch in town and I chose this place. The place was busy just before noon which was a good sign that I picked a good spot. The place looks like a dated diner but certainly not a dive and more like country charm with a lunch counter with round stools and tables/booths. The menu has plenty of offerings but at noon I noticed just about everyone either eating/ordering or being served breakfast, how odd for noon. I looked at the breakfast menu and lots of good choices but I opted for the half order biscuits/gravy combo that has 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausages links and a small order of potatoes the menu said. Service was slow on my visit but has no affect on this review, an employee was a no show I was told and they were slammed so I got several apologies from my server. One of the owners ended up bringing my food to me and wholly Fu#ck was this a big breakfast for $8.99 and good looking, so much for the small side of potatoes the menu says because they covered half the plate. The eggs were perfect sunny side up. The sausage links were skinless, tasty and moist. The bacon was perfect for me, not cooked to a crisp where it shatters with the fork but just under that. The hash browns were tasty with that soft center and slightly crispy outside. The half biscuits and gravy was definitely the star of the show today and they do it well because they over smother the biscuits with the sausages gravy, this is how you do for all the restaurants who scarcely top the biscuits. The gravy was very creamy with the right amount of crumbled sausage. The biscuits were fresh and the dense kind which was perfect for all that sausage gravy, good job. Overall this was a great breakfast spot with a better than most great American breakfast and I would definitely get breakfast here again, two thumbs up and well done. read more

Average food. Little bit below average service. It's a busy place though. So I guess people like it. I just felt it was nothing special.

I have gotten a to go order every Saturday for at least the past year sometimes ordering two to three times a week since I work close. Multiple times over the year they have forgeten silverwear, syrup for french toast, and added stuff I didn't order to my hashbrowns like onion & mushrooms. I have never complained about it until now, because my order was never missing anything really missing anything I didn't have at the office. Today they again forgot my syrup and bacon. I called in and asked for my meal to be remade because it would have been cold and soggy by the time I had to drive back and get my side of bacon and syrup. They offered me the side of bacon and syrup but told me no to remaking my now cold and soggy food. My meal cost about $12 and I usually tip $2-$5 sometimes more for my carry out order, when most customers don't tip at all on to go orders. I spend around a $1,000 a year at your establishment and you couldn't remake 1 meal for me?! I no longer plan to order from this establishment and will no longer recommend my clients to go there for breakfast or lunch. Today I paid for a $12 meal and left a $3 tip, for a meal I left on your counter. read more

This score is sort of an average across my husband, daughter, and my meal. My daughter had a standard pancake, bacon, and egg meal, and it was indeed pretty standard. Nothing outstanding, but nothing wrong with it either. My husband really enjoyed his farmer's omelette. I ordered the florentine benedict, which I should have followed my gut in the first place and not have done so. I was kind of vibing the place as a country diner place and was surprised to see the item on the menu and should have gone with a solid country diner selection instead. The hollandaise is definitely from a package and super heavy. Anticipating this, I asked for light sauce but received the plate totally drenched (our server was wonderful aside from this error). There was very little spinach , and I'm pretty sure that instead of english muffins I had two of the bottom slices of hamburger buns. They had soaked up a bunch of grill grease and hollandaise so were pretty soggy and unappealing (versus a muffin that maintains some chew and crispness). I will say that the eggs were cooked well. My potatoes also tasted like they had soaked up a bunch of grease and were mealy (my guess is they were allowed to set in water and put on a grill that hadn't been heated up enough or something). Coffee was okay. So overall, not a bad place, I just made the mistake of getting the wrong item on the menu. read more

Looking for a place near Poynette for breakfast with girls basketball team and found this place. They were very accommodating, pushing tables together for the girls. For the portion size and the cost this place can't be beat. The food and service was excellent. The servers were very polite and personable as were several other customers. read more

Wow! I was surprised to find that this place didn't even have a Yelp page until just now, so I added it. I've come here a few times while back in the area, always at my grandma's request. She can't get enough of it. Maybe the restaurant can use that in some advertising: Granny Approved! Breakfast here is actually pretty good. When I first saw this place I was pretty leary because former restaurants in this location have been...well, not so great. This broke the combo and has had some staying power now. Omelettes are fantastic here, as is the eggs benedict (they actually have several different kinds, if I remember right). Biscuits and gravy is always a favorite, but be forewarned that they make a limited quantity of the gravy. While breakfast is what I've experienced the most of here, and it's definitely what they do best, their lunch and dinner is nothing to shake a stick at. I've had a decent burger here and a pretty respectable reuben, as well. read more

Water had things floating in it, bugs on the ledges, and dish that holds the creamer was really dirty. Waitress was extremely rude. Nice little place, but I'm not seeing 4 stars here. Food was good, nothing to write home about. I had the Texas melt, which was nice, but again, a pretty average burger. The odd thing is, the fries were hot but not crisply. Kind of greasy and limp. Not sure if the oil wasn't hot enough or what. Wife had the Reuban which was obviously deli corned beef or out of a package. Soups.. meh... oversalted. To me they didn't seem homemade but that's the claim. Coffee - diner coffee from a Bunn maker that doesn't get cleaned enough. Service - Outstanding. Great waitress and I gave a good tip for great service. All in all an OK stop. I have only been here three times, so far, but each time the service was excellent. The food was cooked right and there was plenty. More than worth the drive for me. They made feel like one of their regular customers from the beginning. Very friendly. At many area family type restaurants it is hard to get a good steak. They are either too thin or not cooked right. No problem here. I have ordered the 8 oz sirloin on two different occasions, and both times I got a thick steak done just right. Their desserts look fabulous, but I have yet to try one because I never have enough room for one after eating my meal. Keep up the good work. read more
