    HAMBURGER
    Ed Y.

So I've seen Nation's around but had never tried one. Someone once told me it's their favorite hamburger place so when I came back from camping in the Sierra I thought I'd give it a try. It's literally right next to McDonald's and In-n-out so it's probably got plenty of competitions. The entrance is hard to get to because McDonald's blocked the way on the other side. The interior reminds me of In-n-out although the name conjured up images of local rustic burger stands. This is much more modern than the name suggests and when I got it I had to readjust my preconceptions because it's more of a small IHOP than a burger joint. It has more pies on display and more breakfast on the menu than the burger menu. In fact I noticed more people order breakfast there while I was waiting for food. The breakfast is the standard egg and pancake varieties so probably a good place for breakfast if you don't want to wait for seating at other local breakfast places. The pies are huge and have enough varieties that it's probably ok. I however came here for the namesake burgers. The burger is alright. It's light on the sauce and stuffed with more lettuce, onions and tomatoes than the actual burger meat. I think the other stuff overwhelmed the meat itself. The taste for the burgers is a little underwhelming and reminds me of the taste of whoppers in Burger King. It's not bad but nothing impressed me enough to seek this place out unless I'm looking for pies or breakfast. Service is good for this kind of place and it irked me whenever a fastfood location asks for tips. However they do give you real plates.

I usually order carryout from Nation's once a month or so. Mostly, because they have a pie if the month. I don't try everything (that's what shakes and slices of chocolate creme are for). But when I do ... This months special flavor is cherry creme. Three delicious layers - cherry pie filling, pastry creme, and cherry whipped cream. Now, I'm not saying the layer is canned. I'm sure it's homemade, but that's the texture to expect. It was so pretty! I ate most of it in one sitting, which is rare for me. Definitely worth a try.

I had actually planned to go to a burger place right next to Nations but the line was extremely long. I noticed Nations and realized I had not been to one in quite a while. The place was pretty packed and there was also a line at 1pm but it was manageable. I ordered a couple burgers to go. After walking away I realized how much I liked their pies but I didn't want to get back in line- next time! There were still several tables available and the soda/drink area was clean and organized along with the whole restaurant. The employees were extremely busy taking orders and were efficient in doing so. My order took about 10 minutes and I was on my way. The burger was good. It's a 1/3 lb beef patty and the lettuce and tomatoes were crisp and fresh. Parking lot was pretty busy but you'll find spot. Definitely returning for some pie.

First time in awhile I've been here, last time I was here was when they had the old fries. The new fries are much crispier then the old from what I can recall. The Chili Hot Dog was delightful as well. Definitely did not expect them to change recipes.

Late night stop - actually 2nd Nations today. It's 23:30 or 11:30PM at night and I need a bathroom after being out and about all day. I'm also craving a Bonilla shake that I didn't get when I got a Cowboy Burger at the Nation's at Fisherman's ward in the city ( San Francisco) - so stopped here to kill two birds with one stone. Place was clean as always - server was very nice - but she looked very, very tired - but was still effective and efficient at her position. It was quite lively for a very late Sunday evening - and bit on the noisy side but people were chatting having fun - I've got my shake and it's back on the road

We made a pit stop in Tracy earlier today. The kids wanted McDonald's, and my wife and I wanted Nations. They're right next to each other, so everyone got what they wanted. McDonald's seemed lifeless and depressing inside. A touch screen took our order, and they didn't even have the menu posted above the counter. Everything inside just looked grey and sad. We then walked over to Nations. Wow, what a difference. It was a very inviting atmosphere, the staff was friendly, and they were even giving out samples of their pies. My wife ordered chili cheese fries, and I got a bacon cheeseburger. I wasn't even that hungry, but I can't even remember the last time I had Nations. I didn't want to pass on the opportunity. The food came out pretty quick. This might be one of the very few places where the food looks better in real life than the pictures. My burger was huge! Everything tasted hot and fresh, and I ate it all, despite being pretty full already from eating in San Jose about an hour prior. Nations kind of reminds me of what going out to eat used to be like. The prices are reasonable, the food is fresh and hot, and the employee's are friendly and helpful. After having a terrible experience down in SJ with another eatery only hours earlier, this definitely made up for it.

I pride myself on being an equal opportunity French fry lover, but Juniors' fries are those supremely seasoned shoestring fries that have the thin, just barely battered, shatteringly crisp crust that gives them that addictive quality. Whether they're the regular fries or Cajun seasoned, they're outstanding. The 939 Club -- which can be two-bread or three-bread style, aka "classic" -- has the type of bread that somehow manages to be toasty, but not rip up the roof of my mouth. It was piled high with meat and fresh tomatoes and lettuce, so it definitely hit the spot. The Big O's chicken sandwich is basically the chicken pesto sandwich of my dreams. The sourdough roll it was served on had that sweet ratio of meat where the sandwich didn't fall apart as I ate it. The pesto was smooth, so I didn't feel like I needed to toothpick my teeth (or chew a bunch of mints from garlic breath.) It was a really well balanced sandwich. I'll definitely return. I can't wait to go back and try the burgers.

I ordered the Mac and cheese burger and he ordered the chicken cesar salad sandwich along with some onion rings. We had ordered ranch as the dressing/condiment. In the moment, the food was decent, nothing amazing, but not bad. Later in the night, we both ended up having stomach aches. I began to throw up a few times, but I was able to overcome the sick feeling. My buddy on the other hand wasn't so lucky. He had a constant vomit state. He became extremely unwell/dehydrated and had to go to the hospital. They gave him some medicine and hooked him up to an IV. I recommend the place off of reviews and ended up embarrassed, sad really. The only reason I give 2 stars is cause the waitress was nice and had decent service.

The storefront isn't much to squawk about, but it's clean, well lit, and there's a couple of TV screens that you could watch while you're enjoying your food. As we looked at the menu, we discovered that in addition to kebabs and other exotic offerings, they had burgers and it really peaked our interest. If you love a good burger you'll enjoy what they have to offer. I do not know what they are using to season their patties as it was so unique from what I've eaten before, but the burger patty was moist and perfectly cooked, very tender and juicy as well. In each bite there seemed to be a symphony of flavors that I couldn't really name, but that had me wanting more after I finished it. It was the most exotic tasting burger I've ever had, yet at the same time, it had all of the fixings of a traditional burger. We found it to be an absolute delight. While the restaurant appeared to be unstaffed when we entered and nobody came out to serve us until we were just about to turn around and walk out, we observed that the young man who came out had gloves on and he was probably in the back doing some sort of food prep, so the delay was reasonable. He swiftly and politely greeted us upon sight, and answered our questions about the menu. I appreciated his hospitable demeanor and the food was amazing! I'm going back for kabobs and I want to try their colorful desserts. So glad to have found them.

It was a bunch of kids working too, not a single adult in site. After waiting about 20 minutes in store, I finally got my order, a bag was handed to me, not the box as i was expecting. I did not complain about it, just wanted to get home and feed my family. The food was good, the portions were fair, thankfully everything mostly came out correctly. The only thing wrong was the chicken bites, it was one short. For almost close to 7 dollars for those crispy chicken bites, I expect all 5 pieces to be there. It's what i paid for. We're a big family so I ended up splitting it into 3 orders. Second issue: because I split the order, an item 3 members wanted kept going out of stock. The prime rib 16oz then the 14oz then the 12oz (only 2 of the 3 went thru on the order). Third issue: I went a few minutes just before the "scheduled" pickup time to pay the orders (app only took Apple Pay, giftcard, or pay at pickup). At this point I haven't gotten a call or text about my order. It's my turn up to the counter ("to go" pickup is outside) and ask about any possible available prime rib and she says they're out. I figure ok at least we got the 2 for the to-go order. I informed her that I have 3 to-go orders from the app. She goes to check on the orders and returns to inform me that they are COMPLETELY out of prime rib and had cancelled them from one of the orders. So basically 2 family members weren't getting dinner. ME being one of them. On mf MOTHER'S DAY! I kept my cool and proceeded to order dinner replacements. At this point we were 20min past the "scheduled" pickup time of 7:45pm and the orders still weren't ready. I asked the gal if I had ordered in the morning for pickup for dinner, would that have guaranteed the prime rib? She flat out said "Nope. We run out whenever we run out." Basically the app does not match up to their inventory and they don't hold anything for online/app orders. It's all first-come-first-served regardless of when you order. In other words the app is useless. Fourth issue: It seemed we had finally gotten the orders straight. All combined orders totaled over $300. I asked if I could get a discount since they cancelled part of my order without letting me know. They gave me my $12 appetizer free. I asked if I could get 10% off since the replacement dinners were more. About another $10 off. I thought whatever $22 off and still paid over $300 combined. Fifth issue: I asked how long for the order with the replacement steaks and she said should be quick about 20-30min. That seemed quick for how busy they were. So I waited. Not that I had a choice. 45 MINUTES LATER... Our food is finally ready and I'm still composed. I am at the counter and get the 3 huge bags. I start looking through them to try and make sure I have everything cause again it was multiple orders and I live 25-30min away. It was 9pm and so I'm trying to quickly go through the bags. Half the containers are soggy and cold. I think these might have been ready when I got there, but they're wanted me to wait until everything was ready. During the chaos the gal behind the counter asks me to move over cause they're backed up so she can help the next person. I tell her "I waited. They can wait." The lighting outside sucks. I can barely make out what's in each container. She again tells me to move to the side. I'm annoyed at this point and say "Ma'am I'll move when I'm ready." She calls over some shift mgr and tells her I won't move. That B of a mgr slams the window shut. At that point I was like F it. There's not enough room or light for me to check everything so I leave. Last issue: of course a bunch of sides are missing and some made incorrectly. By the time we tally up the damage the place was closed and no one is answering the phone. Cold, soggy food. Unhappy family. And a pissed off mom... on Mother's Day. I usually genuinely like Texas Roadhouse. Food is good. Service is ok, but yesterday they were crap through and through. Going today to get a refund of all the missing sides and extras that we never got.
