I had to replace a hot water heater in 2010. Replacing a water heater is not a tough job, and this job went fine. But what set me off was the installer. He said the ball valve was normally $175 but he'd throw it in for free if I gave him a good tip. But wait, that's not all !!! After the installer left, I found the same ball valve online for, get this, five dollars. Yes friends, five whole one dollar bills. And Mr. Plumber was going to charge $175. Now that's mark-up. I understand overhead and the like but my-goodness. At least mark-up something I can't find online. So I gave him $40 to put in his own pocket. I could tell he didn't like that. I guess he was expecting something like $100. Well I don't like 'side deals.' So I gave him what made ME feel good which was $40. When things like this happen, I question the integrity of the installers AND the companies they work for. I tell ya what, I will never again call one of those mega-plumber, mega-HVAC, or mega-electrician companies we hear on the local ATL mega-media radio / TV station again. read more

I called Mr. Plumber to fix a sewage pipe. But instead of fixing the plumbing I caught the plumber lying down on my lawn sleeping. When I woke him and up and asked him what he was doing he said that he was tired and needed sleep. He then left my house without fixing the problem saying he would be back once he had a nap. I called Mr. Plumber and informed them of their employees behavior and demanded they either fix the problem that they were sent out to do or give me a refund. They chose to give me a refund. I then called another plumber who got the job done. I thought that was the end of the story and I was willing to give Mr. Plumber a second shot. So when another problem came up I called Mr. Plumber and they informed me that the plumber was on call and they would inform me when they were available. I then got a call a couple of hours later from Mr. Plumber employee, who was very rude, who told me that because I had complained previously that they no longer would be offering me any service. Apparently when somebody complains about the quality of work they are paying for they get a red flag next to their name and they get black listed. Instead of accepting that they made a mistake their punish the customer by blacklisting them and berating them over the phone about how dare they complain. Do not use this company because the quality of their work is sub-par, their customer service is worse, and god forbid if you complain you will be chastised for it. read more

So it's Friday night after a long work week...settled in to watch what would turn out to be a disappointing Clemson game. When after one fateful flush of the upstairs toilet, we had water rushing through the smoke detector in the garage and onto the garage floor. The Mr. Plumber representative who was on the receiving end of my frantic call was exceptionally pleasant! While they could not send someone out immediately, they were able to send someone out the next day. Sewer Specialist, John Matlock, arrived on time and was amazing! He quickly diagnosed the issue and gave me options on repairs. I could repair the toilet at a certain cost or get a new toilet installed for a little bit more. He was honest about costs and timelines. He was not pushy at all. In fact, I asked him if he could snake my sons' tub while he was out because it was draining slowly. After looking at it, he told me that snaking it would not fix the issue. He could still do it if I wanted him too. However, I would be paying for something that wouldn't fix the problem. He was personable and efficient! While I hope I never experience another plumbing problem, if I do...I will call John at Mr. Plumber. I'm highly satisfied! read more

I had all the replacement parts already. The guy who arrived was polite enough, but quoted $345 for labor. I declined - he charged $49 anyway for a service fee just to show up. No thank you. Mr Plumber and Coolray (same company) have taken so much money from us in the last year, and our plumbing is still malfunctioning and our AC still isn't working upstairs. Our fault for giving multiple opportunities to fix our plumbing problems. Just called for a toilet leaking water on the floor, and was told even though they re-built the toilet 3 months ago, it isn't under any warranty and we'll be charged for the service call and any parts/labor. Be prepared for sticker shock. There is a $50 fee just to show up and give you a quote. A simple repair is going to costs hundreds plus the $50 show up fee. I felt I had a simple job and had an estimate in my mind. But I was not even close. The tech did show up in the allotted time window. He did a nice job on the fix. I feel the fix will not have additional issues. But feel the total cost was in excess. My wife was not happy when I told her the total cost. He left a survey form that explains of all these costs involved in just getting the plumber to my home. I will try someone else next time. read more

When it became apparent I have a clog somewhere in my sewer line, I called Mr. Plumber and Jimmy was dispatched to my house. After I explained the problem, Jimmy had a look at the pipes in the crawlspace and alongside my house and explained the oddities of 107-year-old plumbing, since no handyman books cover those. He gave me a ballpark figure for the cost of replacing the line (lower than I imagined) and didn't even charge me for the call, since he wasn't able to restore flow inside the crumbling line. It's not often I have a minor household emergency and find myself wishing the serviceman was my neighbor, but Jimmy is just a great guy! I wont use these folks again! Not because they don't do good work but because of the fact that they sell you stuff you don't need under the guise of saving you money. I was recommended to replace my toilet in a bathroom that I don't often use, and had one of the more expensive toilets pushed on me without trying to tell me about the less expensive models. When you are trying to deal with a water leak, you aren't always sharp mentally, and are easily influenced by people you hire to give you advice that ought to be in your interest, not theirs. In addition, he also pushed a service contract on me under the guise that it would save me money. Those are practices that I find to be the hallmark of a company I would never use again since the priority seems to be their commission, and not the customer's best interest. read more

Back in May or June of 2014, I had bought my first home in Marietta and the previous owners used an electric stove so we swapped it out with a gas stove. However, we did not have a gas line connected from the downstairs garage up to the second floor kitchen so I reached out to Mr. Plumber for their service. We had two plumbers visit my home and my first impression of them (this means everything in the world to me), they appeared apathetic some I knew we were off to a bad start and it only got worse of course. I told them that I needed a gas line connected to my stove from the downstairs garage and after inspecting around only offered to use copper, which is extremely expensive and estimated it would cost about $600-800 to do the job and about a couple of hours. I declined and they went about their way. Afterwards, I called Integrated Plumbing solutions, you can see my positive review about them on yelp. In a nutshell, they offered to do the job at $524 which included the cost of a flex connector. So instead of Copper, they offered an alternative of a flexible rubber kind of material that is much easier to install and cost a lot of less. Overall, I had to pass on them for being overpriced, very poor customer service, and exploiting customers lack of plumbing knowledge. I was totally taken! I was referred to Mr. Plumber so I accepted the quote even though I felt it was a little high. I figured it was best to have it done right. Well, my toilet was running. The pump had stopped working. Mr Plumber technician stated that I had excessive water pressure and that is what is causing the toilet to run and my sink to drip. He explained that I needed a new pressure regulator that would cost $739. In addition to the pressure regulator he tried to sell me on a new toilet which would cost me $600. This should have been a reg flag but I asked what the least expensive fix was and he said to rebuild the toilet. basically putting in a new pump and flap. This would cost me $361. I struggled with the quote but he proceeded to tell me my pipes could burst so I felt the urgency to get it done immediately. I ended up paying $1063 total after my discount for the new PRV and Toilet Pump. It was done quickly within the hour. The problem I have is that I researched the cost to replace a Pressure Regulator valve in Roswell, GA and saw that the cost ranged up to $362 for parts and labor for Roswell. I paid $627. This is insane! I have overpaid for some items over the years but I have felt more ripped off than I do today. Unbelievable! I didn't think a reputable company would do such a thing! Coolray/MrPlumber is a total ripoff. They should be ashamed of taking advantage of elderly customers. We had a sewer backup that took a few minutes of their time to fix. Cost us $600. We could have used someone else the following day but having elderly people in the house, that was not an option. And they knew this. I now know which company NOT to call. Also, they try to push a "sewer camera" inspection on you. It is "free". Wonder why? Also, they would rather you not be home for that "free camera inspection". I'm sure they will ultimately find something wrong and try to rip you off even further. The tech said 9 out of 10 sewer backups they see are caused from broken pipes and need immediate attention. Other plumbers would disagree. Stay away from this company. I should have read the online reviews before mistakenly contacting them. read more

I am happy to say that this company has a real human side. My toilet stopped up and started to overflow early on a Sunday morning. The mess presented a serious risk for infection because my immunities were so low from the trauma of having surgery a few days prior. I called Coolray/Mr. Plumber in the middle of the night and they said it would be cheaper if I pushed the visit into their regular hours. I desperately needed sleep, so they said to "name your time" and they would call me back. I told them 9am, but a gal named Jean woke me up at 7:30am to try to schedule the service call. Initially, she told me they may not be able to come out to fix the stop-up until Tuesday. I said, "you mean to tell me that you woke me up just to say it might be two days until you send a plumber out here?" I went on to explain my situation - that I had just had surgery, could barely move, and that I was not going to be able to clean up the mess (which was mostly in buckets) nor disinfect the toilet closet in my master bathroom. Jean was very understanding of the sense of urgency and made sure that Trent Horne came out at 1:30pm that afternoon. Trent quickly fixed the toilet, cleaned and disinfected the room, put the buckets and towels in plastic bags, placed them in my garage, and also fixed a minor stop-up in my bathroom sink. Trent did a top-notch job and went above and beyond the call of duty to rescue a helpless woman. I would highly recommend Trent and Mr. Plumber for their responsiveness, professionalism, "extra mile" attitude and quality workmanship. read more
