She said they had the Colombian and Puerto Rican versions but only 2 fillings (beef& chicken). I opted for 2 beef & 1 chicken. We called it in and about 20min or so later her husband picked them up. I've never been so excited to write a review, then come to the Yelp page and see SO MANY horrible reviews! Yikes! I def will never dine in here and suggest for management to get it together with the wait staff. Treating customers this bad, won't have you in business for long! So my friends' husband comes back with the empanadas. The beef ones were the Colombian version and the chicken was the Puerto Rican version. WOW, just wow is all I can say! Bring me to ANY hood and compare these empanadas to them! People are getting really stingy w/the fillings but not here! They were loaded w/meat in both of them! You know how much it sucks to bite into an empanada and it's literally air??? For reference, I'm Puerto Rican and Colombian. I've had empanadas in a pretty good amount of places(The heights, Graham, Mama Empanadas, & a lot of predominately Spanish neighborhoods) and these are damn near the best I've ever had! Worst service ever. Walked in and told us we'd have to wait about 15-20 minutes. I didn't mind waiting. However, as soon as a table opened up and they cleaned up, the waitress didn't bother to sit us down and instead kept serving other tables and refilling water. Not really sure why everyone is hating on this place. Mr. Pollo 1 is basically a Colombian diner, typical that you can find also in Jackson Heights which I frequent pretty often. It's a small place and I recommend getting the bandeja plate which is probably Colombia's most popular dish. It comes with a mix of everything, beans, rice, arepa, maduro, chicharron, avocado, meat (either steak like or ground meat) and an egg. Any typical Colombian place I go to, the egg is always well done so I knew it was going to come out like that. The portions here are generous and I think I ate my dish for a few days as leftovers. Follow-up is pretty bad from asking for water (never getting it) to asking to wrap up leftovers (I got the containers and a bag.) The roasted chicken was dry and over done. My carne asado was seasoned and tasty. The maduros were under done on one occasion and decent on another. The tostones with guacamole were greasy the first time and extra crispy on another time. Very good Colombian place. It's in the middle of bayside where food is all over the place. It's the only Spanish spot that won't let you down. The staff is very friendly the food is amazing, the breakfast can't be beat in the area. I'm Colombian my self so I always get the calentado with steak and I leave very pleased so my friends you need to try this place out. They also have mini empanadas. The red sauce is good nice and mild spice but not hot enough. Wish they had the pink sauce. It's a mayo and ketchup mix and it would make this place 5 star. With that's sauce. To be honest I read most of the reviews after I had lunch at Mr. Pollo. It just happend that my husband and I were in the neighborhood and we pass by Mr. Pollo. I can't complain about service or food. Waitress was nice and polite. My husband ordered Mr. Pollo platter and I had an oxtail soup, both dishes came with side orders. Personally I didn't like it. The whole meal felt too greasy for me. The meat was too chewy, dry, and hard. But apparently according to my half Hispanic boyfriend it's supposed to be like that?? He said it tastes just like homemade. (Which honestly I don't think is a good thing) He enjoyed the meal. We shared one meal and we were both full. Another time I called and made my order asked for a delivery and if I can pay through the phone bc not all the time I'll have cash that's normal many people don't carry cash now a days so that day I wanted to pay through the phone she said I couldn't bc that policy I said ok so cancel everything . I ended up ordering krave it that day . Next day my husband called from his phone and said if he can pay through the phone they said okay for him ... I've had it with them I stopped ordering for about a month from there and started ordering from Maria's Colombian restaurant it's cheaper and better . Recently I ordered for pick up 6 empanadas And I went to pay with my card and she's like sorry minimum 15 on card .... I told her are you kidding me she's like yes and grabbed the food and threw it on the counter so all I had was 100 dollar bill and I gave it to her and she's like I don't have change I was like not even 20s that's unreal and she's like "ugh give me the 100 " and she had change ... When they opened, I was excited to try this place. I ordered arroz con pollo and it was bland, no taste to it. That didn't bother me. What bothered me was that they charge you.for the container they put the food in. They charge 50 cents for that aluminium container. So for every item, expect a charge for each container used. The prices range from 25 cents to 50 cents per container. I said that I would never go there again. Well. Rainy night last week I gave them another try. I mispronounced what I ordered and the woman who took my order laughed at me (I guess I mispronounced it in spanish). I ordered a fried whole snapper with fried green plantains, and it was so disappointing. (BEAR IN MIND I PAID $27 FOR THIS.) Ok, here we go: I asked to substitute the white rice it comes with for a few more green plantains instead. Well, I didn't get the rice and the plantains were very few. Granted they were large and very well fried, nice and golden brown but so very few given I declined the rice. The plantains, as well as the fish, all came in bags. YESSS BAGS! Not plates, not aluminum, plastic or Styrofoam containers, BAGS! Considering how much they charged for the order you would think it would come a little more presentable. Instead, we go aluminum/cardboard bags, and the fish was double bagged because it was too long for the bag. The fish tasted raw, the limes/lemons I asked for on the side were not included, and there were no napkins, plates, nothing. Over all, it took them an hour to bring the food, it was not very seasoned, not decently packaged, overpriced. Just so not worth it. If you're going to eat from here, I suggest you eat AT the restaurant so you have a little more control of your order, but I for one, will NOT order from here again. read more

Counter girl took some time to acknowledge me, even though there was nothing going on, I ordered a half chicken, with rice and yucca, it took quite some time, which I thought was weird since the chicken is already cooked, waited about 20-25 mins, got my food only to find out that the chicken they gave me was probably cooked several hours ago, it was the most inedible, driest, burnt tasting chicken I've ever had. I was let down when I saw that I just got white rice and beans on the side. I thought the rice would have been flavored. So in all it wasn't a terrible meal, next time I'd probably add in a side or something extra. The flank steaks were good from what I was told. I didnt try them, although I should have.
