We were in the mood for some birria tacos. We came in and were greeted right away. It seems to be a family owned establishment. The kitchen/prep area is visible to the customers, so you can see that your food is being prepared to order. Our order came with 4 birria tacos and consommé. I ordered a side of rice and beans. They have fountain drinks and bottled glass beverages. The food came out quick and was nice and hot. The tacos were delicious. A friend of mine recommended Mr. Pollo a few years ago and I wish I had visited much sooner. I finally visited for lunch today and WOW the food was phenomenal! I ordered the Birria Tacos and these were some of the best I have ever had. Crisp corn tortilla shells were filled with super juicy tender shredded beef, gooey cheese, crisp onions and flavorful cilantro. Stopped by today, the food was so good. I am judging based on being raised on California, this place is legit. We all ordered the taco plate mexican style. The meats were perfectly seasoned: asada, pastor, carnitas, chorizo and birria (tasted actually seasoned well). The rice and beans were also finally legit Mexican style! The ladies working there were very nice but it gets busy. We entered during a slow time so we got our food pretty fast. There is not much seating I wouldn't suggest bringing a big group. read more

Authentic! Delicious! Friendly! I met a friend halfway between Tampa and Orlando. She suggested a few breakfast chain places, but me, being a Yelper and a mom and pop kinda girl, saw this listing on here and suggested Mr. Pollo. It looked authentic, but you never know til you try it. She ordered the carne asada taco plate and I opted for the chips/salsa, the chicken enchiladas verde plate and avocado and rice for my daughter. The chicken in the enchiladas was moist and tender. The corn tortillas were perfectly made (FROM SCRATCH) and the sauce mmm mmmm mmmm. It was only improved by the 4oz of homemade salsa I poured on top of them. My 3yo daughter loved her rice and did a little hip shake dance when I told her I was ordering more for her to go The only thing disappointing was that they didn't have queso. My wife and I stopped by Mr Pollo for dinner this evening. We've thought about eating there for quite a while but for some reason never found ourselves nearby when we've been hungry. Why did we wait so long? While most of the tables were being used (a good sign that it's a good place) we were able to find a place to sit and enjoyed the music and decorations while we waited for our food. I ordered four chicken American tacos without tomatoes and sour cream. The tacos were average size but the meat was very flavorful. There wasn't too much lettuce but that made room for the crumbled cheese. My wife ordered a chicken chimichanga and said it was very tasty, especially with the mixture of chicken, cheese and onions. She also ordered a side of guacamole. She's pretty picky on her guac and prefers to make her own but said Mr Pollo's was very good and she'd definitely get it again. The chips were house made and fresh. Overall, with two sodas, the bill ran us about $43 which was fair for the freshly made items. read more

Very good food. Not the best Norris I've had but pretty decent. I loved their rice and beans. Kid loved the chicken and cheese quesadillas I will definitely be back. The one behind the food service counter was idle apparently because the one on the phone (5 minutes in with 3 people in front of us) was still on the phone ignoring waiting customers without any sign of getting off the phone. We decided to leave and call in our order but the website was down. There were no prices on the indoor menu. Ambience was poorly lit but appeared to be clean. This is HANDS DOWN my absolute favorite new restaurant in Lakeland. When they first opened I may or may not have eaten here twice in the first week (it's true I did). I eat here at least once every other week, that's how much I love it. The staff is so nice and everything is made fresh to order! The salsa is so good that I'd drink it if I ran out of chips. When I order take out I always get extra salsa so I can have it at the house lol. My favorite things to order are the nachos, birria tacos or the birria quesadilla. The nachos are PACKED full of toppings. I ran out of chips before I ran out of steak! They're so delicious and they alter them perfectly. The birria tacos and birria quesadilla are to die for. Packed full of so much flavor. They're so cheesy and have just the right amount of cilantro and onion. Based on a friends recommendation we came here yesterday to try it out! This reminded me of a tacqueria from back home (California) just cause of the layout and how it was ran. Menu is easy enough to understand, staff was helpful and great customer service. Food came out really fast. The downside is the whole staff takes lunch together and the store closes for about an hour. There was signage up for other patrons and the doors were locked but the people coming in (or trying to) looked confused and turned away. Another reason why I didn't give a full 5 star is it is hot in there. They have fans running, but it is so warm in there. But I will definitely be coming again! This is an authentic Mexican cafe with a sizable menu with both Mexican and American style tacos, enchiladas, burritos, nachos, chimichangas, quesadillas, flautas and salads. Tonight we ordered the three taco combo with beans ($9.99) Queso Enchiladas with a green sauce with rice, beans and a small salad ($9.99). We also ordered two additional Mexican tacos, one with Asada ($2.99) and one with chorizo ($1.99). They offer all of the meats including Asada, Pastor, Pollo, Chorizo, Carnitas, Lingua and Birria. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the dining room is comfortable. When we arrived there were no open tables but by the time we ordered and paid, a table opened up. This is a cafe where we r you order and pay at the counter and they call your number as your food is made, so it may not come out all together. FINALLY! A much needed authentic Mexican restaurant in North Lakeland. I had the asada flautas and they were amazing and beautifully presented. They use authentic Mexican crema, queso blanco and their green salsa tastes just like Megas. My boyfriend tried the birria tacos and those were also really good. The restaurant was also very clean and the staff was friendly. Very sad that they've been open such a short amount of time and someone has already gotten butt hurt and complained about the name of their "gringos" tacos and they now have a paper covering it calling them "American" tacos. My ONLY complaint/suggestions would be that they need alcohol, and they don't do complimentary chips/salsa. read more
