We turned our home into a rental property and needed to bring the locks up to code. Most other people I called quoted me between $100 and $150 PER KEYLESS DEADBOLT just to install them. Mr. Rekey only charged me about $100 for all three and they look great! They also checked the depth of the plate screws and replaced the shorter ones with long ones so it would be more difficult to break in to. Once the deadbolts were in they rekeyed everything and gave me four brand new keys. Mike and Ernie were so great! Instantly trusted them and they were both so thorough and careful about everything. Great service - I called as my husband had locked us out of our guest room (the house has keyed doors on the bedrooms for some inexplicable reason), and we needed to have access. Sent in an online request for service - they promptly called me back the next business day to set up a visit. Even had Saturday service - bonus! The tech called before he showed up, as we requested. Was very quick and knowledgeable. I asked him about our front door locks and he recommended a better brand - and even told me that I could easily change them myself! Super impressed with technicians Mike and Ernie! They were prompt, courteous and professional. They called thirty minutes before arriving and arrived right on time. We just arrived in the area and leased a brand new home. Leasing agent arranged for Mr. Rekey to come out and remove lock box, re key doors, etc. When this team showed up, I still had no electric. They were not any any way deterred by this fact as they informed me, they were prepared for this type of situation. They promptly got going and re-keyed the house, checked all windows and locks. They checked that the garage door worked properly (electric providers arrived soon after) and checked all smoke detectors. By doing so, they discovered that the builder had failed to install one smoke detector and that one was not functioning. They installed the missing smoke detector and replaced the non functioning one. Finally, Mike cleaned out the front door peep hole and installed one that apparently was missing in the garage door! I had no idea that garage doors must now have a peep hole as they are an exit door. Then when finished, Mike and Ernie pulled out their mini vac and cleaned up! See what I mean? Ernie and Mike were not only thorough, they just did a great job! I think they deserve super hero Rekey capes! I have no issues with the actual locksmiths themselves, as they never made it out to do their work. I had an appointment set up for 10-12 back a couple weeks, and they did not show. I received a phone call at 12:15 stating that they were 45 minutes away. I was unable to wait the additional hour past the appointment window, plus work time, for them to do their work. Whatever, people get backed up, things happen i'll reschedule. I had another appointment for 10-12, set up. While i was myself driving to the location, i missed their 9:45 phone call to confirm. I arrived at my driveway at 10:15 and checked my voicemail only to learn they had recently left. I reached out to Mr Rekey immediately to see if they could come back, or at least when they finished the job they most likely moved onto, return after that. Since i was technically late this time, I would be fine being the end of the window appointment. They indicated it was not possible with that tech, but they would check to see if someone else could come out. After waiting for a callback for 30 minutes, i reached back out to them. The agent indicated there were no notes regarding my previous conversation or that they were looking for a new tech. She escalated to a supervisor named Eli that would only focus on my missing the confirmation phone calls. His condescending tone throughout the conversation was not appreciated. He eventually started talking over me and simply hung up on me. I would note that to this point all of the other agents, even the one who lied to me, were pleasant to deal with. Their poor customer service and missed appointments are a nightmare to deal with. They do not appreciate the customers time and will give you the runaround to avoid responsibility. If they tell you service call will be free and covered by warranty DONT BELIEVE IT. Came for re-keying service. Lock broke. I called them back. They said repair will be covered. Then got bill for $133 for a new tumbler! Didn't even replace door handle! Charged me a $50 mileage fee when I could've called a local locksmith or done it myself. Locksmith looked like he was on iron lung from shady pines. I felt guilty he was doing any manual labor at all. I'm very embarrassed for you Mr. Rekey. After failing to get an apparently difficult to make spare key made at two other places I stopped by their corporate office yesterday not realizing they're mostly mobile locksmiths. The staff were extremely helpful and even though there were no locksmiths around at that time they kindly offered to have me leave my key there and when a locksmith came by the office they would have a key made for me that I could pick up. Stopping back by after work they had my key ready and gave it to me free of charge which was very unexpected. Can't say enough about how out of their way everyone went to make sure I was taken care of. Would highly recommend using them. read more

My husband scheduled this company through our One Guard Home Warranty. They gave us a two hour window (11 AM - 1 PM Thursday) when they would arrive at our house to re-key our front door. They informed us they would give us a 30 minute heads-up so that my husband and I could leave work to get this re-key taken care of. It hit 12:30 PM and we still hadn't received our 30 minute call (keep in mind our window ended at 1:00, so the very latest we should have received our call was at 12:30). My husband calls them instead, and they are still at another customers house tending to them and it would take another 15 minutes. They also said it'd take another 15 to drive to our house. Therefore, it was very unlikely they would be able to meet their 11 AM - 1:00 PM window that they gave us. We both have jobs and cannot cancel meetings because they didn't meet their 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM window. They told us if we wanted to reschedule that we could not get them to our house until Monday. Therefore, we would be locked out of our front door through the weekend because they didn't estimate their different time windows accurately. All in all, we called another re-key service (Henry's Lock & Key) and they were able to come out in 30 minutes and complete the job in 15. I wish Re-Key had worked with us on this issue and hadn't made us wait through the weekend. Poor customer service from my perspective. We will let One Guard know of the issue we ran into. read more

Not terribly happy after the experience. I made an appointment through the website and did not find a place to put my service. Yes, I wanted the front door rekeyed, but my main concern was the sliding door to the backyard. Pin locks for patios are listed as a service on the website. So I assumed we could talk about adding that once someone came out. But instead, we were charged the "rekey special" to rekey the front door and garage door lock and no help with the door I am most concerned about - the patio door. The locksmith that came out was unable to offer anything for the patio door. So lesson learned - call to make an appointment to make sure you get the services you actually want rather than accepting the service they can provide when they get there. read more

I recently purchased a home and wanted to get my locks re-keyed and have my garage door reset. I had called around to many places and Texas Rekey was the best service for the money. It was $59.99 for the service call, re-keying of up to 6 locks and 4 keys. Other places charged anywhere from $20-30 for the service call and then $17-20 for each lock that needed to be re-keyed. When I had called Texas Rekey to inquire about their service, I also asked about the garage door and if the person re-keying the locks could also do the garage. The man that I talked to had to talk to his supervisor and took my info and called me back within an hour. Great customer service! The garage door was an additional $15 and totally worth it. The service guy, I believe his name was Gerard, worked on the garage door opener for almost an hour. It was more complicated then we both thought! I called Mr ReKey a couple of weeks ago to rekey a house I'd just bought. I saw the $80 special and mentioned it when I scheduled. The technician arrived a bit late. When we talked about how many locks, he said that if a key could be inserted in both sides of a lock, that counted as 2 locks. Somehow I'd missed that detail on the website. He then discovered that for some reason he couldn't use the same key for all the locks, so one door has its own separate key. When he finally got done with everything, I asked for a receipt and he said he couldn't give me one. I couldn't see the breakdown of the charges. He called in my credit card--incorrectly--and all I had was a verbal quote of the total cost. No breakdown. A week later I received a call that my card had been declined. It took a bit of calling to finally get to the right person to fix the problem. He had used the wrong zip code! I have finally received a receipt sent from the central office. Not impressed. The keys do work! Will not use again. read more
