I've been dining at Mr. Submarine Mr. Gyros since I was a child...definitely over 40 years!! I have to say, this place always delivers when it comes to quality food for fair prices!! I ordered this time 2 gyro platters which come with hot, fresh cooked French fries & a soft drink each. Gyros were excellent in flavor and portion!! Fries were cooked perfectly as always!! They have daily specials which are nice throughout the week. Subs and burgers are just a couple more things I recommend to order!! They have a great variety of menu selections to order from. Happy to see that the inside looks great as it's authentic to the establishment through the years. Keep up the great work and thank you for the amazing work you have done for years!!! Good place for subs and gyros but there's practically no A/C and only one table is under the vent where you can actually feel it. Bathroom has also no A/C so your sweating the whole time you are there. Honestly, best to order to go because it's just too hot to be a sit down restaurant. read more

Well, the man behind the counter was very nice and made my sandwich quickly. The sandwich itself was of low quality roast beef. I asked if it was rare, he said yes. It was medium well at best. Tasty local spot, clean too. Bread is fresh, deli meats are good and the manager is friendly. I popped in and it was ready fast.

The food is awesome they make it very quickly and it's pretty cheap for what you pay for the ingredients are really good as well

Had no idea what to expect when I came here. A bit out of the way and not real fancy but very good food for the price. I had a roast beef sub with onion and the flavor and price were very good. The beef was, perhaps, slightly dry for what I prefer. But as I said, still very good. The owner was there waiting on customers, along with his help, and all were very friendly. Today, decided to go somewhere I haven't been in a while, used to be on Gulf to Bay, hit it every week coming back from the airport. Mr. Submarine...They only have the Cleveland Street downtown location now. These people are fantastic, they've lost their drive-by clientele because people no longer drive through downtown Clearwater. Please consider that you need to drive over there and get food from these guys... it is so good, and these are really nice people. read more

When I lived in Clearwater while going to school in Tampa in the early 90s, Mr. Submarine was where my buddies and I would get gyros in an attempt to buffer the next day hangover. Even on the way to school, from school, or from work (to work)...Mr. Submarine was a personal institution. The gyros are big with hefty slices, fresh...with the awesome T sauce. Didn't need fries even. This is a great service because it's a freaking DRIVE-THRU! I recall it was open kinda late. But this was the Belcher/Gulf to Bay location which is long closed. When I returned to Clearwater in 2006 for a short spell, I'd gone to the Cleveland St. location...and the good quality was still the same. Great subs, great gyros, great staff. What more could you ask for from a sub shop? Everything is made-to-order and fresh. Some of the best bread in downtown Clearwater. The place may not look it from the outside, but its clean on the inside and the owner takes pride in his establishment. I recommend the Italian Sub, the Gyro with fries, and the Fried Mushrooms. One of the employees refused to wear a mask while touching the food, I never ordered anything. Let me clarify, there was a mask on his face, but when one is down on your chin it's not doing anything and may as well not even be there. I had a "cheese burger sub"...it was very good...2 hamburger patties chopped up with a lot of cheese and toppings. Hubs got the chicken philly...also good. They had a steady stream of customers who were in and out. Fries and fried mushrooms were excellent. It across the street from a small park and a construction site, but was very quiet. Inside was a little dated, but very clean for a small sandwich shop. Menu is hot and cold subs, gyros, burgers , platters a daily special and the accompanying side items. A lot of natural light and no heavy odor of fryers. Def will return if I'm in the area again. read more
