It's owned by her, her husband and his parents. And the other staff is family ad well. They have been open for 4yrs. Started as a food truck on Food Truck Fridays at Founders Square and emerged into this great looking space. Their hours are 11a-9p, but since today is first day of world cup they are going to be playing all the games while open and even stay open later to watch the 9pm games. I was told by Andrea and the waitress that the "Cheesy Birria Tacos" was the top seller so I gave it a try. And I got a passion fruit smoothie as my drink. The smoothie was delicious! (BRAIN FREEEEEZE! LOL) They serve chips and homemade salsa while you wait for your meal. The salsa had a great taste to it. It is a tad lil spicy, so know that if you don't like spice. Andrea let me sit while they were still opening up and once 11 hit the customers started rolling in. I really enjoyed the meal. The meat was so tender, so when I bit into it I bit right theough... I wasn't pulling all the meat out of the taco on the first bite. Perfect. The rice n beans were ehhh... I'm not a fan of R&B, and i knew that. I should have asked what other options there were . I did end up asking for future reference and she said they have plantains and fries. Ill have to remember that for next time! Since I just stopping for a quick bite and to check the place out. When we asked for no onions in our dishes, the owner's wife, Eileen, came out and explained how the onions are cooked with the steak as it simmers and marinates, we decided to try it. The $4 tacos were served on a hard crusty shell. Cardboard taste and almost inedible with out garnishments, I was disappointed. Although I liked the spicy salsa my wife wanted a milder variety which wasn't offered. The selection of beers is disappointing. No IPA is on tap. When the initial bill came I reviewed the tab. She had asked Carrie if she could substitute potatoes for beans & rice. Carrie failed to mention the $7.99 UPCHARGE when ordering. She was served beans and rice which she didn't eat. I refused to pay for improper kitchen orders. Carrie correctly wrote the order, but a DOUBLE fault here. Kitchen help can't read and the waitress didn't check our plates. Lacking authority to correct the bill, Carrie called the manager, Brandon, over. I wasn't happy with his corporate reply. A new restaurant has a lot of procedures to work out, but 'Numero uno' is to please the client. He did not! The facility is impressive, even the spotless themed bathroom, but food delivery and quality must be there. There are two nearby purveyors that offer better tasting Mexican food reasonably priced. After 6 weeks they need to correct the short falls. We deserve better and must insist on performance.
