Twin Falls is home to the original Mr. Thai and this location in Boise is from the owner operators of the original with a menu that looks as if the same here as there. High praise comments in a local food group and the eatery's online posted food images are what led me here as a convenient stop for late lunch on a weekday. (As wayfinding tip, this is the location on State Street that is part of the fast casual food sort of strip mall there and this space was once home to Nara Teriyaki & Wok.) I noodled assigning a 3 star opinion because there are a number of really good Thai food places in town now and in comparison this food is not in the top tier. But this is better than some of the other just okay Thai spots and the friendly service and pride in the space deserves a bump up. My husband and I won't make it a destination spot again, but we wouldn't be disappointed if someone suggested eating here. SPACE & SERVICE: The interior is sparkling clean with pride of ownership, the noise level was subdued enough to be able to hear the person dining with you (hooray), the server was friendly but the food was not as pictured in their marketing collateral (maybe that is AI) and although there were only a handful of diners, the two person kitchen took a very long time for food to get to the table. (I am a patient diner so it has to be a significant delay for me to be uncomfortable.) MENU & FOOD: A large menu of the standard Thai options seen on many or maybe most Thai menus in town. We chose three things to share. The fresh Spring rolls (salad rolls @$12) were so poorly rolled that they fell apart when trying to eat them. The Thai potstickers (@$11) were just okay. But Tom Yum soup (with tofu option @$16) was one of the best I've had in Boise. ACCESSIBILITY: It is not the restaurant's fault but the developers that the only Accessible (aka ADA) parking is at the back entry to the building and not distributed near the front door. That means a disabled diner must go in the back way instead of through the front like all others. This is a development completed in the 2020's and the ADA was law in 1990. Segregating disabled diners to a back entrance is a "tilt". Some tables looked wheelchair accessible inside and also outside. I noticed the loo had ADA signage but I didn't check it. Blessed Buddha, this new place is really great. Ordered Thai Boat Soup for dine-in and Spring rolls to go. Inside is cleaner than the last business. Same furnishings. The Thai Boat Noodle soup was ordered at level 5 (1-5). After living in Thailand, I need to test all places against the standards of street food in Bangkok. This soup is hard to find in Idaho. I added one spoon of the red chilies in oil and one spoon of green chilies with garlic & fish sauce. It was like being transported to Bangkok but without the smoke and engine exhaust from the Tuk-Tuks. Food was quick. I met the chef who came out to speak with me. Ya gotta try this place. I tried the new Mr. Thai where Nara ramen used to be. I ordered ramen to go. It was very busy which was good to see. The ramen wasn't what I expected but it was very good. It had carrots, cauliflower and broccoli in it and you get the choice of pork or beef. The pork was tender. The decor inside is nice and the service was excellent. The ramen was $16. We also ordered the crispy wontons. They didn't have much filling in them. I would definitely go back for the ramen and to try other dishes. read more

I get my nails done in this little complex so it was cool to know that there was going to be a Thai joint replacing Naras old venue. I was here about 2 weeks ago and it was still in the works on opening. Today the open sign was on so I had to make my way in. I just wanted a quick appetizer since my nail appointment was in 15 minutes. They have a pretty broad menu of your traditional Thai meals. Their lunch menu is pretty small but sometimes that's good. It gets overwhelming looking a huge lunch menu when you're starving for lunch. I got some fried tofu today. I wanted something quick and easy. It also came out with 2 sides of their sweet peanut sauce. I did double check for a fork which wasn't packed in my bag. So, I checked out my fried tofu and got my fork. The tofu was piping hot! It was fresh out of the oil. The tofu was good! It was not dry or hard. The tofu was crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle, that is the best way to eat tofu! I love the sauce it was paired with. It's sweet and savory. I was struggling trying to eat them really fast in my car. They were so hot but so good. Today was a 5 star experience. The lady that helped me was really sweet. The venue did get a slight remodel. There's beautiful murals on the walls. One is a scene of Thailand and the other is a painting of Thailand itself. There's remnants of Nara still. Hopefully they will cover it up and create new vibe of thier own. I can't justify giving 5 stars off the bat from fried tofu, it was good but it's really basic. I do want the whole experience of having a traditional dish and dining here for their service. I feel like my rating would be more whole as a collective than just my to go order that I got today. I do look forward to coming back and supporting this new local joint soon. read more

I've been here twice now. The service was very friendly and they did a great job with the timeliness of our takeout orders. The green curry was really good. Pad Thai was ok but needed more flavor. I really wanted this place to be great but it's just okay. The server was super nice and did the best she could but the place was fairly busy and she was the only one. I possibly made a mistake ordering the daily lunch special but I liked the idea of having the extra's that came with it. I ordered the fried rice with beef (not steak) and it was pretty bland even though I ordered level 4 heat. My favorite Thai food has had zing and zest and this didn't. I really wanted to add some spices/sauce to it and didn't know that they have spice racks if you request them. I found out after I finished. They should let every table know that they're available. The soup was good but sweet for some reason. Also the fried rice was also a little mushy. I'm going to give them another try and order a dish from the menu and hope for the best. read more

I went twice in the last couple weeks, and both times I had to wait over an hour and a half for my food. I just went again tonight- I called in my order half an hour before showing up, and then waited a little over an hour in restaurant til my food was ready. This restaurant is lovely. The wait person we had was attentive and helpful. We ordered fried crab wonton rolls which they brought right before our main food was brought out. It was an appetizer. I have a feeling they make everything when you order it, so it takes a little more time. I ordered emerald chicken curry which was great. It had a lot of veggies which I like, great flavor and medium amount of spiciness. My husband ordered orange chicken which was not great. It was super bland and the chicken was dry. But they give you some cups of red pepper flakes and liquid pepper sauces you can choose from to add to your dish. He ate some of it & boxed it up to take home to add to the curry dish he brought home from here earlier in the week . They give you generous portions. They make the dishes that have meat with an ample amount of meat. The owner/chef came out to chat with us, which was fun. The decor is fun and funky and they play Thai music videos on the TV which is interesting. I personally dislike having a Tv in a restaurant, but, whatever. We ordered the sticky rice mango dessert which was tasty. However, it comes with chopped peanuts. My advice: don't put the nuts on the mango or rice because it will change the flavor. Almonds would have been a more delicate flavor. Everything I ate was really tasty and I liked the atmosphere. I'm giving it 5 stars because I will definitely come back and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Thai food. And the name of the restaurant is a winner! read more
