Bangkok Thai has been a go to Thai spot for my daughter and I for a long time. Unfortunately, they are clear across town for us so we don't make it as often as we used to when we lived closer. But if we are ever by the mall, it's just common sense to eat there. We came in today for my Grandma's birthday. I know they would do a good job with my Grandma's food modifications. Kim took care of us today. She's the best! She got us all squared away at a table and we checked out the menu. Bangkok Thai serves some of the best fried tofu. I don't know how they do it but it's always crispy on the outside and soft on the middle, it's so good! No matter what you get your tofu in, in gonna be good! I got the lunch pad Thai with fried tofu. Grandma got fried tofu with mixed vegetables. I asked for her veggies to be cooked longer so she can chew them easier. We were served rice soup for the 4 of us. Grandma got her lunch first since she's vegan and couldn't have the soup. I thought was was really kind of them to do that! Grandma didn't have to be left out. She ate a good portion of her veggies and rice noodles. She was a happy clam. My pad Thai was perfection! It was saucy, it had a good amount of bean sprouts and tofu. And the heat level was nice! My favorite is adding the fresh squeezed lime juice into the noodles. It's so good! I ate half and plan on eating the other half later. Bangkok Thai is one of the best Thai joints in town. It's locally owned by some of the best people. After moving to the treasure valley I was worried I wouldn't find a great Thai spot.. then I stumbled upon this gem. Everything is delicious! I am an Idaho native but I moved to Texas in 2020. Before moving, this was a regular spot of mine. Now, when I visit, I still return to my favorite spot for lunch or dinner! I always get fresh rolls with peanut sauce and chili sauce. I double checked that something had peanuts in it (allergies) and the wait staff was very sensitive to making sure I didn't have cross contamination. This was without me asking for extra attention. Checked this place out on a Saturday for lunch. Coming in, there was a good crowd for lunch. We were seated right away. They have lunch specials and we ordered Cha Gior for appetizer. Our main meal under the lunch special: Spicy noodles with combo meat and Prad Prig King with combo meat. I was impressed! I have tried a few Thai restaurants in the area and most of them served food that were a bit on the sweet side. This place is great! The flavors are there and the sauce is not too sweet as to what I have encountered elsewhere. Spice level is good. We opted for level 3 and asked for extra dried chilis. YUM!!! I also noticed menus under the glass on your table. They are their full menu and I saw a few of my favorite dishes that they serve here. This means that we will have to come back and try the other dishes. Our server was very friendly. Even though she is busy, she was able to give us what we needed. I got tired of trying Chinese so I am hoping to have better luck with Thai. I checked reviews and this place had over a 140 reviews with a four stars. This place is pretty busy and it is barely 5pm. That's a good sign. I ordered Chicken Satay, Cha Gior which is fried egg rolls with pork, carrots, mushrooms, noodles, then served with lettuce and plum sauce. I also ordered Chicken Pad Prik Krapaw and Mango and sticky rice for dessert. The sticky rice is supposed to be a sweet purple rice. This should be interesting. The Cha Gior came out first. I like the fact they give you cilantro with the dish as well. The only disappointing part of the dish was the sauce. I wish they went with a traditional fish sauce dip. It's still good though. I asked for a little fish sauce and it fixed the sauce. The chicken satay came out next. The chicken needed a little more but was still really good. The peanut sauce was sweet but not too sweet. I wish it had just a touch of heat to it. Again, it's still really good. The chicken Pad Prig Krapow came out last. If you love basil, you need to try this dish. Simply amazing!!! I ordered the chicken this time instead of the pork. I'm not liking pork these days. The only disappointing dish was the mango and sticky rice. I like my dessert sweet. The rice not sweet at all. I did appreciate that the mango was super sweet and not sour. The coconut milk sauce had no sugar in it and you drizzle it on top of the dish. I suspect that the purple color is tarp powder to turn it purple. If you expect a sweet dessert order the coconut ice cream. I liked being surprised with good food. This place has really good servers that attended to you even though they were busy. My favorite dish was hands down, the Pad Prig Krapow. This Tom Yum soup is sassy how it stands so I caution you to add more heat unless you like a good challenge. Get a pot, why neglect your tastebuds with a bowl? You will want more. Nuzzled between a few name brand stores sits this gem of a Thai food place. There is even a side patio when the weather is warmer. The quaint restaurant doesn't have a bad seat, sit away from the door if you like the temperature a bit warmer. In the colder seasons, the cold air brushes you at the front tables. The young lady that is usually always there kills it! She is great a balancing to-go orders, cashier duties, and food ordering and moving. While she is super busy, she never seems stressed and she is friendly and is a forward thinker. (Example: To-go box also had a mini-cup to hold my sauce and plastic wrap to keep my fresh rolls fresh. The food was flavorful and it tasted right, but the texture was off. I ordered the Mussuman curry that comes with potatoes and carrots. I was excited for the vegetables in the dish but was disappointed. I could tell that they were frozen at some point and not cooked fresh... or that's my guess because they were stringy and watery. Bangkok Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant in town! My partner's mom is from Thailand and the food here tastes a lot like her home cooking! We even have taken her out to eat here while in town and she couldn't believe that we had this good of Thai food here in Boise! They have all types of dining options: dine-in, takeout, and delivery! I've been dining in for years and the perks of that are their small soups that come with every lunch order and shrimp chips for the table during dinner hours. I had a college internship in an office nearby and their lunch specials made coming here during my 1-hour lunch break totally worth it. The service is great and the waitstaff is really so nice. I've overheard some great interactions between staff and customers, where accommodations to dietary restrictions and preferences were all made. Most of the food can be modified for spice preferences. It's on a scale of 1-5 stars. I'm usually in the 2-3 star range, with 3 stars being a really good amount of spice if paired with something bland like rice / sticky rice to even it out. Here are some highlights of the menu: Pineapple Fried Rice- that comes in a pineapple bowl! It's really delicious and so aesthetically appealing, a great dish to get and take a photo of! Duck Curry- I don't usually order curry at other restaurants because curry is just something so easy for me to make at home but the novelty of this duck curry makes it a dish worth ordering. If you dine in, it comes in a serving bowl that is kept warm with a little tealight candle. Papaya Salad Combo- I have memories of going to a friend's house with Thai family and having to peel papayas for papaya salad, so this dish has sentimental value to me. At this restaurant, you can choose between "Thai style or Lao Style". I get Lao style because it is made with a crab/seafood paste and the Thai style does not, which is the only difference between the two. You get the combo for the beef jerky and sticky rice, and that's what makes it really authentic. My partner and I spent some time collectively living/visiting Thailand and the beef jerky and sticky rice are one of those snacks that embody our time adventuring around Thailand. Lad Na: This is my favorite Thai noodle dish (hot take, sorry pad thai). It's a thicker rice noodle, almost like a chow fun but it has a really soupy sauce. I get it with Chinese broccoli and seafood. When you order the seafood lad na, you get A LOT of crab and other seafood it's so delicious. Pro tip: ask for a side of vinegar for your lad na. Just trust me, and dump it all into your sauce it's so good. read more

I am writing this review to show my appreciation for the staff at Bangkok Thai Restaurant (shout-out to Sharon!). I ordered pad see ew and gai yang through Uber Eats. However, my app indicated that the driver remained parked at a parking lot after he picked up my order. I was monitoring his location for at least 20 minutes. His car was not moving. I called him. No answer. Called again. No answer. Either he was busy eating my food or he got in an accident. Or he totally flaked. This worried me. I called the restaurant. Sharon told me that my order hasn't even been picked up yet! Sharon called Uber Eats Support. A representative from Uber Eats then called me. They would cancel my order and I should just make a new order which would be delivered by a new driver. One and a half hours after I made the first order, my food finally arrived. I was surprised when Sharon also included fried spring rolls and cream cheese wontons in my delivery "for the trouble." This goes to show that Bangkok Thai Restaurant cares for its customers. And I wanted to recognize them for it. Food was decently good. Portions were huge. Gai yang (chicken marinated in house sauce then slow-roasted) was herby and tasty. It was my first time to try cha gior (pork, carrots, mushrooms, and crystal noodles wrapped in rice paper then deep-fried) and definitely not my last. Loved the contrast between the crispy outside and the mushy inside. Solid four stars for Bangkok Thai Restaurant! It turns out that the same driver flaked on them before. Sharon blocked him now. There we sat...in the deep depths of quarantine despair when a shining light broke through the seemingly impenetrable darkness....that light my yelp friends was of course none other than uber eats..a food bearing Hermes to the COVID positive. An unexpected address mix up perhaps? No, no there was much more behind this shining moment, this glorious act of virtue and Valor. My sister....the architect of said miracle ordering and confirming delivery of Pho. Yes my friends Pho soups so eloquently placed on our humble threshold. What a surprise, what remarkable timing and events to transpire in a moment of stomach churning hunger. Bangkok Thai. A place I would have never tried, I admit. Just a bit too far out of reach of us to be convenient and too many places in between to really search out. But in this unlikely happenstance has emerged a solid Thai contender. The Pho, while the timing and circumstances more than likely made it exceed its actual goodness, was soooo perfect. The savory broth, fresh herbs and veggies, chili sauce to purify those covid riden insides. It was great. Thanks to my sister are in order, to uber eats, whom are basically our yelp first responders, and Bangkok Thai for a solid Pho that bounced me back to kick ass. We came here for lunch with our local friends. Found the good reviews on yelp. The atmosphere was nice and I was hoping the food was authentic since that's what most reviews said, but it wasn't quite authentic for us :( The food seem more of a Chinese fusion not thai. We ordered the cream cheese wontons, chicken pad see ew and the chicken yellow curry. We were disappointed because the curry was more brown, not yellow. Reminded us of the inside of a chicken pot pie. The pad see ew had too many onions and were on the sweeter side. The cream cheese wontons were the only yummy dish we had. I ordered pad Thai medium spicy and can attest it had just the right amount of heat. Noodles were not too sweet and the ingredients were fresh. We order the pork and green beans and pad thai. The pork with green beans were awesome and had a great spice to them. Got food to go. I was really craving curry but didn't want to spend a lot of money. I got the yellow curry beef. It was fast and ready 15 minutes after I called it in. This place is only a dollar or two less than other restaurants in the area, and the portion is about half the size. This is more what I would expect out of a lunch special than a dinner entree. The curry is not very creamy and is more brothy. I got a medium spice level and it was still pretty spicy and the flavor was good. Those are positives to me. Probably won't eat here again for dinner because of the serving size. read more

Came here because we were in the mood for Thai food and it was close. I was not disappointed! The service was amazing. The food was broke the mouth delicious (not to mention the large portions!). Little restaurant in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. Excellent service, delicious Thai food, spiced to your specifications. My kids favorites were the papaya salad and the sour soup, both extremely spicy, which they loved. I really enjoyed the duck and pad Thai. We also had chicken satay and cold spring rolls. Bad food and service. Limited vegetarian/ vegan options. The one they have aren't appealing enough. The food has a weird smell which couldn't be taken away. Either the utensils used for cooking weren't cleaned properly after non-vegetarian preparations or the vegetables used were stale. We couldn't eat the food and so request a replacement (both were paid for) and still the food couldn't be eaten. The experience would have been better with a smile or an apologetic service. However, they have nothing to offer, neither edible food or decent service. We left everything as is and ate at Thai basil to revive the whole experience the day after. I would never recommend this place to anybody, as the food doesn't look appetizing or hygienic. However, the final decision will still be yours! read more

We were promptly seated at 3:00 in NY's Eve. Waitresses were helpful and attentive. Complimentary shrimp chips were pretty and tasty. Bangkok Fresh Rolls Appetizer was good with generous portion. Drunken noodles were plentiful. Would have liked a few more veggies. #32 Pad Prik Krapow was tasty and abundant with generous broccoli. It could have been a bit warmer. Yummy fish sauce. Love this place for lunch. Only at lunch do they serve the soup that is made daily. It has rice chicken and tofu in a light broth it is good. I usually order the cashew nut with chicken and today was no different. When you order they ask how spicy you like it and I usually get a 1.5 star which has a bit of a kick but not too spicy.
