I ordered the pad see ew, very large portion, especially for lunch but I ordered medium spice bc I like the jalapeno like heat with this dish but when it came out the spice level was comparable to mild. I am a HUGE fan of the "Mr. Thai's Curry Pad Thai". I would give this place more stars based on this one dish alone! Other dishes are good as well. The dishes are on the spicier side of the spectrum, so if you are unsure, err on the side of caution and pick a lower spice level. I will continue to come back. read more

Since moving to Northville my wife and I have been frequenting Mr. Thai every once in a while. She loves the Pad Thai and I am a big fan of the curries and soups. The Basil Fried Rice was also very good. The only recommendation I can give is to watch out for the spice! I normally am a big fan of spicy food, but the medium spice almost made my food uneatable. EXTREMELY RUDE to the customers!!!! I cam in on an Saturday for lunch, ordered fried rice and asked if they had hot tea. They served the tea without mentioning it would cost and confirming with me. The menu has no price tag of tea and did not say lunch price not applicable on weekend. When I got the bill with about $13 fried rice and $1 tea after lunch, I asked if they could explain. Hate the food. It was ridiculous And the server was really bad to us or horrible i should say. I did not like the service provided i asked for a spoon to eat rice and was given a soup spoon. She never offered me chopsticks. We were three people and we did not get the food all at once. At the end she was concerned about the tip. She was very picky. I've eaten here a few times now and the food is good but not great. For one, even the mildest dish is still very spicy and it's not possible to make it less spicy. Second, if you order a dish with chicken, meat, shrimp etc you won't get very much compared to other restaurants. The spring rolls, on the other hand, are about the best you will eat. Mr. Thai is a local place that I've never considered eating at mostly because I know the calorie count of a plate of my favorite, Chicken Pad Thai ( yes, I'm boring). But during the holiday season, I rarely feel like cooking any more often than I already am, so we decided to give it a try. What a nice little cozy place. I was not a fan of the tables they have in their establishment, they were impossible to cross your legs under, but otherwise typical decor and feel for a family owned restaurant. Friendly service. Menu was not overwhelmingly large, but they did have a unique twist on the classic favorite- the curry pad Thai which was good. Wish it had even more curry flavor. I have been coming here for at least 6 years and recently there has been a new cook, not the sweet elderly couple who used to work there. I have ate here 5 times after the new cook started and I have been very disappointed. One time, it almost seemed like the pad thai curry was burnt and instead of making a new batch, they gave us the top portion that didn't look burnt, but tasted so smokey, it was inedible. The other times weren't any better. They increased the prices too. I used to take out of town guests, friends, and family here because it was my favorite Thai restaurant, now that the quality of the food continues to be consistently low, I will not be returning. Me and a few of my friends ordered take out from Mr. Thai and all got food poisoning!!! Between throwing up and diarrhea, it was bad but lasted over 24 hours. I called to let them know of the issue and they wanted a doctors note saying it was food poisoning. I'm sorry, but I'm not spending all that at the doctors for them to tell me what I already know it is. For them to at least act concerned about the issue instead of blowing it off so they can figure out where the problem originated from! But I guess they don't care about that. Great food and reasonable prices! We tried the Tom Kha soup, rangoons, green curry with chicken and drunken noodle with beef. Everything was perfect! My wife ordered the green curry with a medium spice which was about all she could handle. The waitress kept asking her if it was too spicy and offered to cool it down with more coconut milk. My soup and drunken noodles with medium plus spice were the best I've had here in MI. I asked if they ever serve larb (one of my favorites), which is not on their menu, and she said they will but you call and order it ahead so that they can have time to make it. By far the worst Thai place I have been to. My food was just mediocre. I got chicken kow pad and it was simply OK. I was not a huge fan of the Tom Yum soup. My husband was very displeased with his shrimp Kow Pad. The shrimp had not even been deveined, yet it was mixed in the fried rice for the unsuspecting diner. Craving Thai food and saw the high stars on Yelp and UrbanSpoon. My friends and I split three dishes - red curry with tofu, shrimp and veggie fried rice and chicken pad see ew. HUGE portions and delicious! The veggies in the fried rice were crisp and fresh; the shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly! Loved the bit of sweetness in the pad see ew. Is there a negative rating on yelp?!? The salon I work at ordered this for lunch Friday August 31, 2018. Im not normally the type of person to leave a negative review, as in my industry we know how reviews can affect business. But this place and their management has earned this bad review to the fullest. We work in one of the busiest salons in Metro-Detroit, especially on a Friday when we all consumed our lunch from this place. With in an hour 7 out of the 9 of us that ordered we're getting sick. And please let me paint the picture for you, we do hair!! Standing behind someone trying not to puke or anything else is completely miserable. They crippled our salon. Some of us sick for over 24 hours. Throwing up, diarrhea, chills, and all around sick. When I called and complained today, I was put on hold for quit some time, then the man on the other end asked for a doctors note proving it was food poisoning. If ever there was proof, 7 out of 9 people would be it. I'm disgusted over the lack of concern for what that did, and post this for everyone else that may order from there. I really wanted to love this place. The lady was so nice...especially to our baby. I just couldn't. The food was lacking for me. True the portions are huge but it wasn't tasty enough. My fiancee and I decided to give Mr Thai a try after hearing some good reviews from friends. The restaurant is clean, the owner friendly, and the service was prompt. We decided to start off with the Tom Rad, which are little fish cakes and with a side of sweet chili sauce. They were pretty good. Next, we moved onto the entree ($10/dinner entree) which consisted of Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Both dishes were generous in portion size but a little too salty for my taste.
