My 2009 Murano tires were losing air slowly and painfully and I found myself constantly putting air in them. My tire sensor is broken too so it's always glowing from my dashboard along with my low gas warning. Sometimes you just learn to live with old card eccentricities. But I knew tire pressure was really important to keeping my tires for a long time and making sure I could stop quickly or navigate high speed maneuvers on the local parkways. My go to tire place is Mr Tire on McKnight Road. I've been going here for years for all of my tire needs - including fixing leaky tire rims. It ran me around $100 to fix two tires and get my old/filter changed. The morning of my appointment, it snowed a crazy amount of Spring snow but they fit me in right on time and got me back on the road in an hour. I will say that you have to be persistent in calling them because they are sort of short staffed and the manager is often out on the shop floor so the phone just rings and rings and .... well, you know, rings. I stopped by when I was running some errands to book my appointment for the following weekend. read more

5 ***** This business is as honest and decent as it gets! I was driving along McKnight today when my brakes suddenly failed. I pulled into the first place I could find (MR. TIRE) and spoke to Mike Davis, the assistant manager. After explaining what had happened, he offered to take a look at it right away. He pulled my car into the bay while I sat in the waiting room. Now, I'm thinking he is going to come and tell me it's a $1000.00 bill. Instead, he proceeds to print out a recall notice from FORD, and explains that my vehicle's brake line has been recalled and I can get it fixed at no charge by the dealer. He cautioned me about trying to drive it home and suggested a tow, but I explained that I had to get home. Before pulling my car out of their bay these guys filled up my brake fluid and then gave me the rest of the jug because he knew I would not make it home with it leaking out of the line. A total class act! They could have had me leave my car and charged me a fortune for new brakes, a new brake line, the service call, etc. but they helped me out in the most humbling way and didn't make a penny off of me. As a woman I find mechanics to usually be patronizing and pushy, but the folks that worked here didn't try to push anything that I didn't need and they were all very friendly. I got all 4 of my tires replaced for a great price and it only took two hours, which considering how busy they were was really quick. Be careful if you are moving from a different state and is trying to do a state inspection! Get a second quote from another dealer or repair store before you decide to do it here. My husband had a state inspection here 6.5 years ago and the experience was AWFUL. He was charged $1,600 for the state inspection when he moved to PA from NY. Not all issues were inspection blocking but they leveraged the knowledge gap and forced to fix all for $1,600. It was surprising to see the store was still open and was rated four stars. read more

I do not often go out of my way to leave reviews or even mention a business in a positive way to friends or family. However, this place is by far the best place I have ever taken my car. Jason specifically is truly a good guy and knows his shit as well as how to communicate and explain. I don't know if he is an auto mechanic genius or just an expert at customer service, but he always knows what he's talking about, and if he doesn't know something he is open about that and then he gets more info and gets back to you in a timely fashion. He also actually tries to save you money! He gives you options and explains them all. He doesn't make you feel like an idiot for not being super knowledgeable about cars, and when you are done talking to him you know more. I referred a friend and he agreed totally. The first time I came here, they saved me thousands of dollars versus what the dealer had estimated and over a thousand versus what another local mechanic had estimated. Mr Tire explained that much of what the dealer said I needed was not necessary for now or in the near future (the dealer claimed it was all necessary right now and could not even give me a list of what was top priority and what was second and third priority). Seriously they saved me thousands of dollars and did not make me feel stupid or taken advantage of, but instead made me feel better educated about my car, and I was. I cant speak to other locations, but the McKnight Mr. Tire and Jason are awesome, and their mechanics must be pretty damn good too to make all this actually work behind the scenes. read more

I came here for a last minute oil change. I called to see if any appts were available in the evening and he was able to get me in 30 minutes later. I work in cranberry and this place was convenient since I was already heading to the mall. I also noticed their low pricing on an oil change and took advantage of it. The oil change was done in about 30 minutes. I had a brake light out and asked how much that would be. He mentioned the part being about $6 and labor being $16.59. I passed on that and did it myself in one minute. Overall not a bad spot for a quick, last minute oil change. I personally would not recommend them for state inspections. During our oil change they did a brief inspection. I mentioned our car was being inspected the next day. The guy said there's no way it will pass inspection. He mentioned we had a bald tire (lies) and another one on the verge of vecoming bald (maybe). He said that the rotors need replaced. (I knew they were fine since brake pads were just replaced and mechanic said rotors are good). I left crying because I was nervous for inspection now. Car passed inspection after ONLY needing new tire rod. So they're good for an oil change. That's all I would come here for personally read more

These are our family auto maintenance mechanics in the North Hills area. We have brought our vehicles in on multiple occasions over the years, and the service professionals at Mr, Tire have consistently performed at a level that surpassed our expectations in terms of quality and value for money. We live right off McKnight and I can't tell you how much peace of mind it is to know that Brad and Jason are right down the hill when, not if, we'll need them to take care of our vehicles. Sometimes, it's not even the service offered that saves us money, it's the general automotive maintenance advice I've received. Most recently, I brought in a hard question about our utility trailer and ran it by Brad. The answer saved me a lot of worrying. Do this, don't do that, pay for this, don't pay for that. The shop is also one of Tirerack.com's recommended installers for specialty installations. We've used this for a shaved specialty tire for an AWD-enabled vehicle's blown tire replacement shipped directly to them. They handled it without any sort of hassle. I really can't find something negative to warn you against or watch with this shop, and if you look through my reviews, you'll very quickly see that I have no problem laying blame where blame is due. This location of Mr. Tire is run by a good, honest dude. And he's picking up the slack of other, not so awesome Mr. Tire centers. After a blow out on the turnpike, we scrambled to get a tire so the spare wouldn't hold us back on the way home. Mr. Tire in Latrobe it was. At the time, we were extremely impressed with their speed. Turns out their tire was a dud! Bubbles in the sidewalls and yet another slow leak within a month. Called Latrobe and they weren't down for covering it because it was "in the sidewall". Took it into Mr. Tire on McKnight, where they were taking care of business! He apologized for the inconvenience of the funny business in Latrobe, and had a tire delivered and put on in the same day, free of charge. Talk about setting things right. This includes numerous free visits for analysis and diagnosis. I called on a Tuesday to schedule an inspection for my car on Thursday, I was told the earlier I brought my car the it would get done so I brought it at 7:30 in the morning (when they opened). I called at 1:30 to see how it was going and I was told the inspection was in progress. I showed up at 2:45 to wait for them to finish up. When I got there my car was in the same spot I parked it and they haven't even started it yet. A gentleman at the counter asked if I needed anything and I told him I called a little while ago and was told my car was undergoing inspection, then after that conversation my car was finally pulled into the garage to be inspected. It is now 4 o'clock and I still don't have my car back yet. I'd personally recommend a different garage to anyone that needs something done to their car! read more

I have always received good and reasonably priced service here. After a bad experience with an auto repair chain in 1970, I taught myself to do most maintenance on my cars. It's been a long time since I have done much work on cars, but I am pretty knowledgeable and I can usually tell when someone is trying to rip me off. I only go to chains when I have a coupon for a particular service, since chains are notorious for getting you in the door with a special and then hitting you with a lot of questionable additional charges. This Mr. Tire location has been the exception. I first went here to get some tires mounted and balanced, and they got me in quickly and the work was done properly for the agreed price. The next time I went, I had a similar experience and therefore decided to take a chance on their Drive Card, which carries significant additional discounts. Since then I have taken four different cars there, had many tires mounted, balanced, and repaired, have had oil changes, and even had three different cars in for state inspection. I have dealt with both Brad and Jason. They have always been professional, honest and accommodating, and the prices -- at least for what I had done -- were always extremely reasonably. I am generally a pretty savvy consumer and I shop around and use coupons to get the best price, but the combination of this particular Mr. Tire location and my Drive Card has provided a combination of good service and excellent prices that no one else could offer. I don't go here for all my work, but they have been unbeatable for the work they have done on my cars. read more

Don't go here. They will make you spend hundreds of dollars on things that have nothing to do with the issue you're having with your car. I go there because my car is pulling while driving. "Oh you might need an alignment." Why did they go into my brakes then take off the calipers? And when you take off the calipers you need to do a brake fluid flush and apparently that was more important than having a car that doesn't pull side to side when driving in the winter. So now I'm out 300 with the same issue I walked in there for. PLUS it took 4 hours!!! I'm never going there again and I will go to every site I can to deter others from going there too. At least that way I can stiff them the way they stiffed me. SAVE YOUR MONEY. I hope people realize this place is terrible and choose somewhere else or find a mechanic friend. He was trash talking my friend's brake work but my friend charged less than a third less and fixed the issue I had with no problems. My friend also explains to me what's wrong in plain English without using jargon and trying to confuse me as to what's really wrong with my car. They think I'm going back to pay 700 for some bs tires. I can pay that much for a real name brand with better quality and warranty. Thank you for helping me trust my mechanic friend even more, I'd rather get work done at his house than this place which tries to scam you at every turn and deter you from going anywhere else by lying about how other work you've done somewhere else is trash. read more

I bought a set of Michelin LTX M/S tires here in 2013. The tires failed inspection last month because the sidewalls had dry rotted, although after 44k miles on them, 9/32 of the tread was left on the tires. Jason fought with Michelin to get 90% of the purchase price credited towards a new set of Defender LTXs as the original tire had been discontinued, in addition to being recalled for the LTX tires they made in 2012. I learned that Michelin tires dry rot more than any other brand, but I got 66k miles on the OEM LTXs my truck came with, so I wanted the same tires this time for the next 70 or 80k miles. I will continue being their customer as long they keep guys like Jason around to go out of their way to make things right. read more

I have a hard time finding places to change my tires. I have very low profile tires (275/30/20 rear 245/35/20 front) and I needed one changed since it had a leak and wore unevenly. I already bought the tire and had it in trunk. Every other tire place told me "no, it will break our machines" (including NTB and Monro), but I called Mr. Tire in Monroeville (actually they were one of the only places open on a Sunday afternoon) and the guy working there told me to bring it in, even after I told him the size. I drove from Irwin and they took it right away. After 10 minutes, a tech drove it back out and said he couldn't get the tire off. The assistant manager, Emmett, overheard him and told him to pull the car back in. Emmett went in the garage and showed the tech how to change it. It didn't look easy. I'd like to thank Emmett for not giving up on my tire. He was super friendly and very professional. I will return to Mr. Tire. read more
