I was recommended to come here by a coworker when we started talking about food along 86 street. Let's start with a little background though! Since COVID, I've rarely gone out to Chinatown in manhatttan and I've really missed eating hot tofu fa and drinking fresh soy milk. And if you're anything like me, this will definitely satisfy that sweet tooth. This wasn't an easy to find location but if you know what you're looking for, you'll definitely spot it. This isn't your usual sit down, grab dessert and chill vibes though. However, it's still worth grabbing some food to go! I can't say much about the other delights they have, but the tofu dessert with the syrup is definitely a must buy if you love it. It's soft, sweet and can be eaten hot or cold. My preference on these cold wintry days is warm to hot! The only caveat to ordering is that they are lacking an English sign. I'm sure that they likely will know some English but in a city like NY, what can really deter us from good food? read more

Extremely happy that theirs a home made tofu pudding place with lots of delicious foods including mochi, noodles, herbal jelly, herbal drinks, and tofu pudding. Cash only. Now they sell dried goods as well. It's tucked away part of the shop. The gentleman selling tofu speaks English but the lady not as much. It's so hard to find freshly made tofu nowadays. Maybe the art of fresh tofu is slowly dying but when I find a store that makes them, I make sure to bookmark it and to never forget it. Let's just say there are two stores that I know of in Brooklyn that makes it. Manhattan don't even sell it anymore and I'm not sure about Queens. Reason why I love fresh tofu so much is because the taste of it is absolutely different from premade tofu that you'll find in supermarket. The soy flavor of the tofu in the supermarket are always lacking in taste and just taste mass-produced. Where as freshly made tofu has a delicate body and richness to it and yummy soy flavor. If you've eaten enough soy beans, you'll know what I mean. It's taste absolutely amazing especially if you use it to make mapo tofu with or just pour some yuzu soy with grated ginger and scallion on top as an appetizer. With that said, I love Mr. Tofu. It's a hole in the wall and can be missed if you walk by there too quickly. Their stall is snuggle underneath the store awning, on the side of the store front. Their tofu is $2.25 per box and it's best to arrive early as they can sell out quickly. They also sell other stuff that I don't know how to say in english, but if you're ever curious and want the real deal, I would say make a trip to Brooklyn and enjoy authentic tofu, just like how your grandmother would have eaten it if she was living in China. read more

This place is literally a whole in the wall. You wont see a glaring big store front. They occupy an area within a store. Currently with Covid they are selling directly outside. Tofu pudding, soy milk, fried tofu, rice noodles, and even nian gau! Everything a foodie could ever want. Quarts of tofu are the best bag for the buck. We bought a little of everything and enjoyed it all! I cant wait to return. read more

I can't believe I've never heard of this place. Shame on me since I am a huge tofu fa fan! Ever since the whole drama with Fong On in Chinatown and the closure and reopening and then the closure of another tofu place in Grand Street, I thought there would be no more good Tofu Fa. I'm glad I found this place. It's a hole in the wall but it does make very very good Tofu Fa. It reminisces the best tofu fa I've had growing up. This place is my new favorite because they serve the best tofu fa in Brooklyn. I'm going to be a regular. read more

THE best tofu pudding in all of Brooklyn! Doufu Hua (tofu pudding) is a childhood comfort dessert for me and reminds me of my grandparents every time. When I heard this place was around the neighborhood, I had to pay a visit! Always fresh, smooth, and just the way my grandma used to make it. It's such a rare gem and the art of tofu pudding is not well known anymore. Blessed to have this in the area and he's always here until ~8ish pm if you're craving dessert and a somewhat *healthier* option - get tofu pudding! They also have other desserts here - grass herbal jelly, sugar mochi, and others! FRESHLY made, will be a local customer. Love this place! read more

VERY low-key, no-frills stall (not even; as it's just a 2-3 table setup) There's usually a line of grannies in the early morning. Delicious and fresh tofufa and soybean drink. They always give the perfect amount of syrup. They also sell dried bean curd, tofu, few different kinds of noodles, and herbal tea drink. The woman and man are always very courteous and helpful if you need recommendations. My go-to spot as it's cheap and delicious. When I went and bought $5 worth of tofufa, they offered a free small soybean drink. CASH ONLY. read more

Came out for an errand and knew I was going to be in the area so, as I'd always do, went on Yelp and found Mr.Tofu! Don't know if this the actual name of the shop but found my way here and I am so happy to have paid a visit! It is easily missed, especially if you are driving to the location but definitely not a spot you'd want to skip out on. Since it was freezing today, there wasn't a line when I came so I was able to get and go in less than 3 minutes! I ordered two large tofu puddings and the nice lady said I get a soy milk for free! WHAT! I was super excited about it and I love soy milk so this was a nice surprise. In addition to tofu pudding, you can get a lot of other tofu products here as well. I saw the man bringing out a new batch of tofu (for cooking). I haven't seen that in a LONG time- the last I remember seeing this type of tofu was when I was in elementary school. $2 a box- I definitely will be back for this! They have fried tofu cubes, flat noodles, dried shrimp noodles and literally a variety of stuff. I came rather late I guess, so there wasn't much left. Large tofu pudding was $2.5 a quart and they provide a generous cup of syrup for it! Definitely recommend this spot! read more

In order to get the smoothest tofu dessert I recommend visiting early in the morning.
