This review is long overdue. We used Larry a few years ago to do a quick revamp on our powder room. The short version is, he was slow, often didn't show up, was late regularly, and made a lot of excuses for why it took him so long. This was a very simple job (replacing a small vanity, patching some tile, removing a chair rail, and hooking up a new sink and toilet. There was always an excuse for why he couldn't just get it done and it dragged on many weeks longer than he said it would initially take. At the end of the project he wanted to be paid before he was done and I refused to give him the full amount because I was certain I would not see him again if I did. The next time he came back, he finished installing the sink but there was a water leak. As he ran around the house trying to figure out how to turn the water off and played with some washers he eventually got it to stop leaking. Fast forward to the next few days, I wake up on a weekday to water all over the powder room floor. I called Larry about it and he said he would call me back in 5 minutes. Needless to say, he never called back and I was conveniently unable to reach him after that. I ended up calling a plumber and they fixed the leak to the tune of $350 (about 1/3 of what Larry was charging me for my entire job), additionally telling me that some of parts of the new sink were installed by using old parts that shouldn't have been reused. I sent Larry an angry email and never heard back. I'd advise you not to trust the positive reviews for this one. read more

I contacted Larry via email regarding a leaky hose attached to the sprayer of my kitchen faucet. He encouraged me that I could do it myself and gave me some quick How To guidance. After receiving the confidence from him, I decided to tackle the job myself. I should note that he did offer me his services at a very fair rate. After a few back and forth emails of more detailed and understandable instructions I had fixed it myself and saved a few hundred dollars on labor and replacing the entire faucet (as advised by my building engineer who believes that's always the way to go in these situations). Larry was great. We are selling our condo, and the buyer's home inspector indicated our kitchen outlets were not GFCI(even though they were GFCI outlets). I checked with a few electricians and handymen, and Larry provided one of the lowest quotes to replace any non-GFCI outlets. Larry arrived and tested the outlets to confirm they were all GFCI. I was expecting to pay the service charge even though he didn't replace any outlets, but he didn't charge me anything since it literally only took him 2 minutes to confirm they were GFCI. If you want someone who tackles problems with creativity instead of whole lot of hours billed, call Mr Did! I had two windows in a high-rise condo that were sealed shut from the outside. The building maintenance guys said they could do nothing. The first handyman I had come in said he could do nothing. I was looking at a very expensive repair job -- outside scaffolding, removing whole window, $$$$ -- if it could be done at all. Then I called Larry at MrDid. I brought him in for some other projects. By that time, I had given up on the windows. While he was here, I asked him to look at the windows, not expecting anything different from what I had already been told. He actually looked at both windows and discovered that they had different problems (the other guys never noticed that). And he said he had an idea. Sure enough, on his second visit he brought some improvised tools and managed to open one of the windows in about two minutes.
