I got so much inspiration just walking around and seeing all the pieces in their collection. There are so many brands, some that I recognized, and a lot that I haven't. So yay for discovering new small brands. People here are really cool and welcoming and allow you to have your space and look around but are there and helpful when you need it. Things are definitely on the pricier side but I do think you pay for the quality of the pieces. I came in with a friend and half of their closet is Mohawk and they swear on their quality and longevity.

He was very cold and when asked for a size he told me he was going to check, but never returned. I had to ask him what happened with checking he responded with "oh that's our last size". Compared to the service he was displaying to other customers he was attentive, but blatantly ignored and dismissed me. Did not purchase anything and will never give my business to a store that operates like this. Would not recommend going here when you can buy everything they have online elsewhere, when the point of going in-store is to have a pleasant shopping experience and this was the opposite.

From chic Japanese / American brands like Monitaly to international lines like Brain Dead to classics in fits you can't find anywhere else like wide-legged Ben Davis to hand-picked vintage pieces, shopping at VN is an education and a first-hand journey through the mind of two people with incredibly inspired and informed taste and a deep passion for progressive menswear. And the shopping experience is calm, friendly and warm. For all the taste involved, the experience is unpretentious and chill. Charlie is there a lot of days and he always has some great story to share, and I've often found myself wanting to take in every single item in the store. Pottery, photo books, ceramics, one-off art pieces...and a red vintage Gucci sweatshirt!?!? If the same same bores you and you're wondering what else is out there, I would absolutely encourage you to check out Virgil Normal. As a former employee of X-Large, I definitely feel the echos of the blend of a young, rebellious and creative spirit with sophisticated design tastes that XL pioneered in the early 90s at Virgil Normal, and it is a beautiful thing to behold.
