I love The Left Bank! I've been selling here for about 4 years now and buying even longer. I've literally only had lovely experiences with the staff and the selection. I find their pricing to be very reasonable, they have a wide range of styles and price points, and because they're always buying they always have new things to see! They are very clear about their selling process - you drop off your items and they reach out within a few days with your total and you can choose cash or credit. You have to fill out a form that clearly states their policies, so as long as you read that there will be no surprises. If you have any questions, the staff is so happy to answer them for you. I've had questions about why things haven't sold or why they were priced the way they were and I have never been unsatisfied by their answers. I like other consignment/resale shops, too, but I think the Left Bank has the best customer service, the best selling policies, the best selection, the best prices in all of LA. Oh! They have a great instagram, too! It's awesome if you aren't local or aren't able to make it to the physical shop as often as you'd like. read more

I love this place so much. They always have beautiful selection of vintage ware in addition to local and small boutique jewelry, cards, candles and more. It's the perfect place to pick a gift up for a loved one or just straight up treat yourself like I did with this amazing out of print Clare Vivier purse. For Sellers: unless you visit here often or live nearby, you might want to opt for cash instead of store credit. The store credit expires after one year and it only applies to in-person purchase of what's on the floor. The Left Bank team said their new items are released 20 at a time via IG daily -- but you cannot use store credit to claim those. I sold some beloved vintage pieces here when I was pregnant thinking I could use the store credit for a wardrobe refresh after birth. When I finally made it back, I was very, very sad to find out that my credit expired! I still give 5 stars because the manager was kind enough to honor some of it for the 2 items I had found that day. BOOHOO though that I lost most of my credit :(. Their policy was actually written on the paper - I just didn't look at it closely so it was my bad. They really are stickler for rules and they have a lot of them, so follow their rules or all you'll have to show for some top tier trade-ins might be a pair of jeans and purse. I've been shopping here for so many years and I hadn't sold stuff here in a year or so and wow I can't believe how badly they rip people off now. They gave me $10 for $200 boots and $10 for American apparel clogs I wore ONCE. They must be under new ownership or something. You're better off selling to crossroads or on Facebook marketplace. Super sad to feel so taken advantage of by this place! Also beware that once you drop off your items you cannot decline the total they give you. read more

There's always something new there and they also have a gift section full of mostly local products that are perfect when you don't know someone on the level that you can pick up clothes for them. Sellers: DO NOT bring your clothes here - it's not worth it anymore! The offers have gone downhill drastically within the last year or two. There's also no flexibility once you've signed the agreement, god forbid you accidentally leave something important in one of your bags! They will take it and they will EMPHATICALLY refuse to give it back, citing the signed agreement and absence of a price sheet (without asking if it had fallen out!). No grace, no patience, no exceptions. They wouldn't even let *me* buy *my own items* back! (You can see that most of the negative reviews come from the bad selling experience. Just avoid it!) Buyers: Inventory-wise, it's just a bit of a bummer - sizing is super limited and very picked over. If you're above a size 8, just skip this one - anything in higher sizes has probably already been grabbed by a smaller person with a sewing machine. Avoid the self esteem hit and just go dig for stuff yourself! (And honestly, now that I've had a frustrating seller experience, I'm hyper aware that everything in the store WAS NOT given willingly. I have enough bad luck as it is - I'm not trying to add bad juju, too. All this to say, if you're buying any large Farm Rio tops or dresses here...I'm coming for ya! Joking, but also not joking.) I really do like the business in theory, but the execution has gotten SO off putting (and, I mean, I guess I should have judged that by the language used in the paper they have you sign - they have no flexibility or consideration here). Despite its best efforts to the contrary, The Left Bank has officially morphed into an aesthetic shop for tiny, rich people that totally lacks any of the heart and charm that powered the business when it launched. Cute store! Items are mostly brand things like madewell, Everlane, Levi's etc. It's really nice and since it's all fancy brand clothes so you won't find $2-9 a top, instead you'll get $10-$20 a top to $20-$30 a dress/pants. But that's quality you are getting too so reasonable prices! Just if you are like me... an experienced cheap thrifter, this place is a bit higher price point thrift shop, so I'll have to come check on their clearances to get the best deal. Not a big store, so you have to come back later for more new things too. What I saw is more towards Small (0-6) sizes clothing. I'm a M/L (8-12) depends on the brand, I didn't find too many items in my size. But it's ok I get it, I'm a common size... lol Good luck guys! Very safe experience for dropping off clothes/items for sale. You can read the process on their website but it's easy, sensible, and trustworthy. I went with them as my first place to bring sales in LA because of their safe protocol. I know with a place like this it can be disappointing when they don't buy a lot of your items! So I see where some other reviews are coming from. But if you check their insta, like I did before going, you get they are picky! And why not be? I mean I am bringing stuff there because I don't want to sit on a lot of inventory, so why would they? I thought they were fair in what they took and the price paid. They are prompt and give you Venmo which is so convenient. I am trying to clear out things right now so I have not shopped there yet but I would 100% love to purchase their cute items too, and I love their social media. One of the cutest little thrift shops in LA! I'm so glad I happened to stumble upon this shop while browsing 'thrift/consignment shops' on Yelp. I don't currently use Instagram, but have periodically dropped by over the past couple of months. Before reopening their actual store, The Left Bank would be set up racks, bins, and tables in front of their store to allow customers to swing by Sat/Sun to shop. Now that they are open 10-5 daily, I appreciate how they are still committed to keeping customer and employee safety in mind. Due to public health guidelines, they have limited the store capacity to 2 customers at a time. Once you arrive, you can text their number and let them know how many people are there to shop. When you enter the store, they have a clipboard for you to record the date, your name, time in the store, and phone number for contact tracing purposes. There is also a bottle of hand sanitizer to use once you're finished filling out the sheet! The first time I dropped by after their store reopening, Jacque kindly greeted me and showed me around - she's so welcoming and sweet! Since then, I've dropped by one other time and happened to find a Uniqlo teddy jacket that I can't wait to wear! There are a variety of styles and sizes here, so I would highly recommend dropping by if you're in the LA area. I haven't found too many pants that are on the smaller side (sz 24/XS), but have found a good selection of outerwear, tops, and dresses for my size. Very underwhelming selection of "vintage" clothes- mostly fast fashion brands like last seasons forever 21 and Zara priced as if it were new. I have nothing against fast fashion, but it's truly distasteful to price said items close to, if not same, as new retail value. I also agree with previous reviews stating that the staff is not very welcoming and will generally ignore you (which is what some people prefer tbh). Imo, the vibe they give off is BARNEYS shop girl and NOT "approachable" and accommodating shop girl. I will say that i'm happy with the few items I purchased from here (aside from a Nike shoe whose sole came off the same day I purchased it), it's quite affordable and there are som true vintage gems. They have a cute gift section in the front, but overall, their clothing style/buyer's eye is severely lacking, especially for the price. Obviously, the store's style aesthetic is dictated by the buyer, which seems very dated and lacking substance. I would recommend taking a look at their instagram stories, which they update quite regularly to get a better understanding of their style and price points before you decide whether it's worth visiting/selling to. read more

I love this place. My second time and they remembered my name! Such a nice welcoming feeling that as a Brown Latina I rarely get. I really like that they have a mix of casual and more affordable items as well as (IMO still affordable) designer wear. I've found an amazing 70s leather suede skirt, a see through 70s top, gorgeous leather pencil skirt, and a fab high-end silk jumpsuit. I got several other things for teenagers. The Left Bank was a fun thrift shop for us to visit with a good mix of vintage items and recognizable, current era brands. I ended up purchasing one vintage piece and one Madewell piece for around $40, so super reasonable prices, too! In addition to clothes, they had accessories and a good selection of jewelry, hair clips, and kitschy home good type items. They do have a couple parking spaces in the back, but those were taken when we stopped by, so we ended up parking a few roads over and walking. Not bad by LA standards! read more

I have loved the Left Bank for a long time, but today I am finally here to leave a review! They have a perfect mix of vintage and current pieces that are just lightly used. One of the best thing is that when you bring in clothes they offer either cash back or a generous store credit (which can also be used on all their perfect little candles, lotions, incense etc.). Lastly, the staff is so kind! I was dying to buy this one candle they were out of (the Bar Monti Roen candle - so good), and the owner Jacque literally blew out the one that was burning and gave it to me. Way too expensive for a thrift store. Was disappointed when I went because it only had one $ sign. Coming here is if you are shopping at the mall. I just want to start off by saying the owner, Jacque, is so nice and helpful. My first time at the shop was the best experience because she was so welcoming and accommodating. I've been back a couple times after and I've felt a very different and unwelcoming vibe from the other employees there, especially from the Asian chick, Kim, who seems to be the second in command. I have gone with different people each time and they all told me they felt discriminated against and unwelcome (they were all BIPOC). There's definitely racial bias, prejudice, and discrimination going on in this workplace b/c I'm not the only one who has pointed this out on here. The workers react very different when a thin, white woman walks through the door. Which leads me to my next point...the Left Bank needs to be more inclusive with sizing. I've been lucky with my finds but there is hardly ever anything above a L which usually tend to fit like a S anyway. There definitely needs to be a size range that goes beyond a size 10 and 12 (on a lucky day). Left Bank needs to create action steps for how they will create an anti-racist, inclusive environment for all. The team needs intensive racial and sensitivity training. Not to mention, diversify their feed, vendors, and employees. That will at least be a start. I, for one, have not shopped with them since my original review and will not be returning to this establishment. I hope they are taking the time to educate themselves and uproot internalized racism in their hearts and in their workplace. read more

I originally gave this place 5 stars. But I'm deducting one, sorry! I stumbled upon this store a few years ago in search of a winter dress for a fashion show. What I found instead was Jackie, the owner. She is super sweet, will talk your ear off, and super passionate about her business! The space used to be an auto mechanic shop owned by her father. She has since turned in into a lovely buy sell trade. They donate whatever doesn't sell to the homeless and to beautify the LA river nearby. I've consigned quite a few handmade items here and sold my clothes. They don't offer much, but if Jackie is around she will take a lot of your clothes! So, I told all my friends to consign and shop here. But sadly I told my friend to check it out because they take more items than crossroads, but she reported back that they didn't buy anything! I went back and sure enough, they took 2 items, when before Jackie took at least 10. I'm deducting one star because now they have a new person doing the buying and she is more stingy in what they take. I know that's probably a good business strategy, but I was super stoked on it. My first time walking in, way back in 2019, I loved the vibe and Jacque is an amazing person. Very welcoming and helpful. I usually find only one thing, but that doesn't usually bother me because what I get, I love! I do wish there was more inclusive sizing though. I get a little discouraged when I go through a whole rack that doesn't even come close to my size. Recently theres been new women working there and they just seem SO unfriendly. There's never a hello, a "have a good day", a "did you find everything you needed?" And I've almost felt uncomfortable or that I'm bothering the seller. Parking: Difficult, street competing with the Brewery across the street. There is a rack outside for $1.99 but I think most of those items have some kind of issue. I found cute shorts with a broken zipper. Yelp review pics are misleading because everything is relatively pricey for second hand. I overhead the cashier say, "we are not your usual thrift shop." I hate to leave a negative review but racism is so draining. This store used to be one of my go to spots to get luxury thrift. I've also shared this space with so many friends. However, today I'm over it. I walked in looking for an outfit for a funeral and tried a few things on. I made a selection on an $85 skirt with getting the rest of my outfit elsewhere. I handed the owner a $100 bill to check out and she held it in the air looking for the stripes. She told me she couldn't find it and I said nicely I just got it from the bank. As we all know we can't choose the bills the bank gives us. She asked me if it was real multiple times. I've paid this lady multiple times so the audacity she has to ask me that is very shocking. I proceed to ask her if she has a pen because I received it from the bank, trying to reassure her and myself. She said no it's fine and honestly I should've just left her store and the skirt there. Maybe I didn't look as dazzled up this Wednesday afternoon but that doesn't matter. She was wrong as I've been a frequent client. The Left Bank lost a faithful customer today. Weird merchandise - prices are all over the map and you'll definitely see ratty stuff up for sale. Wanted to take clothes of mine (all reformation, nearly all in pristine condition as my size has changed) which were about 10 pieces, offered $70 or so. I can see why people just go to Depop! They overcharge like crazy and then don't do fair buyouts. I don't see a cohesive theme in what they do or don't buy and ultimately even as a shopper it's a miss. So many stellar consignment and second hand shops in LA for buying and selling, I wouldn't prioritize this one. read more

I LOVE the Left Bank. I have found so many great pieces here for such amazing prices. It is my favorite little vintage shop in LA and I can always count on it to hold my sizes and to have the cutest pieces. A cute curated vintage/consignment shop in Atwater Village. All "women's" clothing (quotations because the gender binary is fake, amirite?). Definitely not Goodwill prices, but I don't see many things over like $60 unless they're designer or items made of quality materials. I see Madewell, Reformation quite often, and the occasional fast fashion item. Lots of contemporary designers that I don't know the names of. Some of my favorite purchases: vintage seafoam green Wrangler jean shorts, leather belt with silver accents, and dark blue COS (Collection of Style) trousers. I believe each cost $18-20 (maybe I'll post pictures once I actually get over my shyness). They also have a little gift shop portion with candles, body care, cards, etc. Their Instagram is also great - I love watching the Saturday release videos. They have themed releases every week like gallery girl, spring picnic, which is really fun. The videos give you a preview of what's in the collection, how they curate, and outfit ideas. Recently TLB started becoming a sort of community space where they hold discussions, talks - I haven't been yet, but that's pretty cool imo. Parking: I believe they have two spots in the back, otherwise it's street parking on streets that are pretty busy. I usually end up parking near Rick's on Fletcher/Riverside. read more

Finally writing a long overdue review! I feel the need to address some of the comments left in previous reviews. - 1st off, this is Los Angeles, parking is terrible at any boutique sized store, that's just the nature of this city and has nothing to do with the quality of the business. - 2nd, if you felt like there weren't enough options for larger sizes, it's because you're not the only women looking for those sizes. A lot of women are looking for larger sizes too and probably snatched up the inventory quicker. I know that Jacque is constantly hunting and buying things in size 8 and above so if it's not there, it's not bc they're not trying their damndest. - 3rd, resale retail is unpredictable. You can't expect to go into any resale, thrift, or vintage store and find something you love 100% of the time, that's just not how it works. I personally love watching their instastories to see if something catches my eye or stopping in whenever I'm in the area. I find that all of their items are reasonably priced for the quality, sometimes way under priced. I love Jacque and all her hard work. I know how hard it is to run a small brick and mortar business. While I'd love for this place to stay under the radar so that I can to snag that perfect pair of high waisted jeans I saw in their instastory before some other woman gets my size, I'd rather I'd rather support this female owned small business. read more

$1.99 racks are in the front door and back hallway with some nice gems. Found 2 awesome clean, nice causal dresses and 1 really nice burgundy velvet heel = $6.51! Can't go wrong with so many $1.99 items to search through. Its called thrifting for a reason, its hit and miss. Mix of modern and old age items. Its possible to find some nice vintage items that usually would cost a lot more at vintage shops. Outside in front is the $1.99 clothes and purse rack, front section inside store is shelved with new fun gifts. Rest of the store is filled with different clothes $10-$35, shoes $20-$30, hats, $4 jeans pile and a few jewelry, dishware, and books for $1. Tip: A lot of nice jackets are just $15. Tops might be on the pricer side for $15. Owner Jackie is adorable. Yeah, representing 626! :) Selling? They buy different clothes and new gifts. During the pandemic, they've been hard at work posting items for sell using Instagram. However! If you want to sell, know that they're very picky. I've tried selling twice and each time they've turned down the clothes even though they're in line with the aesthetics of what they're selling. I've read from one of the review replies that they became pickier over the years to cater to their customers desires and actually sell off their inventory. I get it from the business perspective. I've been going to the Left Bank for years, and I cannot recommend them enough. All of my favorite rare finds have come from here including some killer Kelsey dagger sandals, breathable linens, red velvet Ferragamos shoes, vintage tees in supreme condition, comfortable high waisted vintage shorts, etc. I'm also really obsessed with their accessories including trending hair clips that are a 1/3 of the cost compared to other stores. I also really enjoy their instagram stories and how they preview pieces in posts. Though my favorite posts are the "clothing release themed" weekends. You can tell the team who works here puts a lot of time and effort into curating the themed collections, and it's well received. They often survey their followers on what they like/dislike or what they'd like to see next. Though the weekend releases can be very popular so if you see something you like, you should plan on getting in there within 15 minutes of opening time. The stuff goes SO FAST. Not only are their specialty finds rad - I also enjoy their contemporary selection. I found a super comfortable and versatile black jumpsuit in great condition here for $12, and wear it all the time. I always get tons of compliments on anything I wear from here, and it's all so reasonably priced. Much more reasonable compared to the weekly pop up vintage sale that happens at Zebulon across the street. The owner Jacque is a human sunflower, is somehow never in a bad mood, and my shy awkward self relents in her presence. She supports/shouts out businesses in the neighborhood, and is constantly contributing to the community. I think a lot of their gifts they carry are from locals. First of all the owner & everyone who works there is incredibly sweet...they remembered me after only having gone in once before, which is such a nice friendly neighborhood feeling that is super rare these days. They have an awesome selection of clothes ( I know they also are super conscious of carrying a range of sizes!). There's everything from rare vintage finds, to high fashion labels, to more affordable contemporary pieces. They also carry jewelry and other goods from local artists, so it's nice to know that they're supporting their community.
