Great River Roadhouse - A look at the thin and crispy crust

Overall, it was a good experience. The vibe is a classic American Lodge type. It's relaxed, laid…read moreback, and inviting to both those who want a drink and families that want to eat pizza together. We were served very quickly and it was attentive. Everyone was very friendly! When asking for special substitutions (regular chicken breast instead of breaded for chicken Parm), they didn't hesitate to help me out. The mozzarella sticks were very good. Not too often you get homemade mozzarella sticks! The chicken Parm was good too. The side salad was a nice touch and was nicely done. Portions were very good, ended up needing a takehome box. Prices were also very good. ~$50 for two sodas, appetizer, and 2 entrees. Would rate this a good experience overall!

We were a little apprehensive since we are from Chicago. We ordered the pizza and an order of Mozz sticks. The pizza crust was crisp and cooked perfectly, was it Chicago pizza? No it wasn't, was it good? Yes it sure was. We took the left overs. The small pizza is huge! The Mozz sticks were good and enough to feed 4 people. Service was very friendly and personable. This a great spot to stop in for pizza and beers, giving off sports like pizza spot vibes.

We have to deal with a couple of different food allergies in our family, and Violet Dreams has been…read moremore than accommodating. Bread with no dairy? You bet. Gluten free cookies, buns, and pizza? No problem! So good to have a place in town to get gluten free pizza made to order, and it was very tasty! They do regular pizzas also, all made to order, with a huge range of topping options. This has become a weekly stop to buy donuts for the guys in the office, and they love it. Best donuts around. So glad to have a bakery in town that is eager to provide products upon request.

Stopped in to buy anything to taste the quality. Male clerk (in faded blue jeans and ratty flannel…read moreshirt) offered to give me a whole, vanilla- filled donut. Cut off a piece; tasted okay and I bought a second to take home for hubby. At noon, there were about 10 loaves of bread, wrapped in plastic bags, on a shelf. The bread looks like something an amateur would make: lots of uneven color and very heavy. Single packet of cookies (maybe chocolate chip) looked burnt. The very small donut case was empty, but the donuts were arranged on an old dining table in the middle of the bakery, uncovered. (Bakery is not made on site, but in a house/facility in same town by 2 sisters.) The place is not set up nicely--another example of the poor quality and image of businesses in the area. There's a sink visible when you walk in. They have a ugly display of handmade jewelry by the door. On the opposite wall is shelving with knick-knacks and small wood items for sale. There are plants and flower arrangements in the window/dining table area. The ceiling tiles looked ready to fall down from rain that went through the roof. In a word....DEPRESSING. Looks like they can't decide whether to be a bakery, a jewelry shop, a junk shop, or what. One thing they have decided on is to do everything they can to NOT be successful. Oh, and my husband didn't like the donut. I won't go back.
