Sadly Mrs Rios in San Luis has become uncompetitive and although the food is tasty I can no longer tell my friends this is the place to go when in the area. Let's say, just for example I visit a casino restaurant in Las Vegas. 1. There's no expectation of feeling the experience was a bargain 2. A "Resort Fee" may be added to the check. 3. A "Facility Charge" may be added. 4. A "Employee Benefit" charge may be added. 5. A "Time of Day" charge may be added if you arrive at a busy time. 6. A "Payment Processing" charge may be added when you pull the coveted gold card out. Mrs Rios, not a resort and in fact a humble little establishment will up charge a "Payment Processing" fee when you pull the plastic out. OK but I think it escaped their notice that as that credit card fee is considered when calculating a gratuity. It's true a tip is not expected when the server is the owner as is normally the case here. But I overlook that and tip the owner... Total Tip = Credit card fee + tip. I suppose we are grateful not to be upcharged for Rent, Utilities, Employees, capital improvements, disposables and any of the dozens of other business expenses. Pro Tip: Payment Processing charges are a normal business expense Next the menu items have risen in price more so than others serving similar foods. $5.30 for a fountain beverage is unacceptable when other restaurants are all in the vicinity of $3.00. Sorry, as fond of you as we are simple lunch for 2 with fountain beverages right at the $50 mark doesn't fly. This isn't the Ritz although they seem to want the same revenue flow. Stumbled upon this small restaurant as we were heading to the Sand Dunes. Their staff was very friendly and welcomed us as soon as we walked in. It's a small mom and pops restaurant run by a few people, but they were very attentive and made sure everything was made to our liking. It seemed that they had their regulars because they welcomed them by their name and knew their order. I love that they make your experience personal. It's the little things in customer service that makes a business stand out. My husband and I ordered the pad Thai and our littles got burgers. Everything tasted good. My family and I stopped here while on a roadtrip based on yelp and Google reviews. We love Thai food and were intrigued. We ordered the pad Thai, pad see ew and tom yum soup. Everything tastes exactly as it should. Absolutely delicious!! We did not try any of their Mexican food so I cannot comment on that. If you're in the area stop by. You will not regret it! Service was also very good. It's a large restaurant a bit on the older side but don't let that discourage you. read more

The Thai food is amazing. They really provide tasty dishes. I always get their Thia dishes. However, their American dishes are okay and I would pass on their Mexican dishes. Their drinks are also very good. If you are not pleased with something, tell them, they will fix it to your liking. This service is rare among other food vendors. I eat here whenever possible and I bring my family and friends as well. It is always enjoyable, clean and friendly. read more

I stopped in tonight to pick up dinner. I wasn't sure what to think given the odd mix of cuisines on the menu but I was not disappointed. The restaurant itself is a bit run down and could use some sprucing up. I ordered the spicy seafood salad. It was comprised of about of lettuce, chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, onions mixed with seafood in a chili sauce. The seafood was cooked really well and the sauce was perfection. What a great find in San Luis. I will absolutely be back to try more of the menu! read more

We were traveling from Alamosa to Walsenburg and decided to try after all of the rave reviews. We made the detour and what a disappointment. Some of the worst food we have had. We ordered one cheese enchilada and one chili relleno. They looked identical and we had to ask which one was which. They each had the same horrible taste. The chili relleno was a tiny, tiny pepper wrapped in a tortilla with cheese sauce on it. On top of it all, it was served slightly warm. My iced tea was so weak you could see through the cup. The only reason I gave service two stars is that we were the only ones in the restaurant. Eat in Fort Garland or Questa. We have eaten in both towns before and loved it. read more

In some small towns, I think an exotic restaurant can't be authentic. But when I saw a Thai-Mexican restaurant in this tiny rural Colorado town, I knew it just had to be the real deal. The Thai tea was perfect, the Tom Kha soup with lemongrass & coconut was delicious, and the Pad Thai combo was wonderful. All reminded me of my trips to Thailand decades ago. We are fortunate these lovely people moved here and opened their restaurant. Some of the most delightful food I have had. I love all their dishes, all the curries, the Ginger dish, the Basil dish. Their soups are wonderful. Tom Kha! They have roast duck which is superb and not available outside of Denver or Santa Fe. The people are very nice. They also have an extensive Southwestern menu and American food which is nicely prepared. Their French Fries seem to be hand cut and the best I have had in a long time. Try the Number Six Burger smothered in red or green Chile. Feel free to mix Southwestern and Thai if you are interested. A curry dish with a side of Fries, for example. If you pass through San Luis, a stop here is a must. read more

Thank you Mrs Rios and Thai kitchen for a wonderful, warm and surprising lunch - great to have Tom Kha (which was soothing and robust) and a chile relleno in the same meal, both of which were fresh and flavorful. Also the lobster in the Pad Thai was somehow so sweet and fresh even in the middle of Southern Colorado far from an ocean, I was so impressed. Loved our little lunch here and will be coming back -- would rather drive up here for a meal 2h from Española than the same ish distance to Albuquerque. read more

The all around best meal we've had all year! The Thai dishes were PERFECT. Such nice people and I would recommend buying some bulk teas on the way out. This little place in San Luis Colorado is truly a destination restaurant. We drove up from Taos on business and ate there. My husband had the won ton soup which I swear was the best soup I've ever eaten. My green curry shrimp with ginger and the lobster pad thai were both A+.
