The Unagi Don bowl was phenomenal. Colorful, fresh, filling, vibrant, savory, varied, and satisfying. We were honestly surprised at how great the quality of the food here was, considering Alamosa is not a very big town. Best place in Alamosa - the menu is extensive! Just got take out: Fresh spring roll (add shrimp) = very good and fresh. Could have used more herbs and a shame they up charged me $5 to add shrimp but overall good! Tom Kha with chicken = VERY VERY good. Deep rich flavors. Top model roll was very good. Pretty basic but so many roll options to try next time! Overall very happy with this place and can't wait to try more things on the menu! read more

OMG! Who would have thought that in Alamosa we were going to find such an Asian jewel! We had actually gone to Main Street looking for a Thai place that was closed and we ended up coming to Sushi Thai because it was close to our hotel and we read that it had great (but very few) reviews. The food is fantastic! The restaurant is small but very clean and nicely decorated. The bathrooms were super clean. And service was excellent Impressive! I ordered the Thai soups to start. My husband had the Tom Kha soup with chicken and I had the tomato based one. Both were delicious. We ordered three different sushi rolls (they come in 10 pieces! We didn't know that). The Volcano, Rainbow and Super Spider Man...LOL! It was a lot of food and we ate it all which means we absolutely loved it. A surprising find for authentic Thai food. Both the Drunken Noodle and Green Curry entrees were quite good and similar to those from the Thai restaurants back home. Solid portion sizes too. The only drawback was the semi-chewy chicken meat. Stop by if you can! read more

We drove by a few times thinking hmm a new sushi place in this little strip mall? Maybe some day. Sounds like a gamble. Decided to check out the menu online and that pushed me to go try it. The online menu and gallery are beautiful and oh so extensive! We must go now! As soon as we pulled open the door, we knew this was just the beginning of a fantastic time. A cozy small space with curtains covering the windows, the multicolored wood paneling on the walls, everything was so very well put together and clean. The vast menu we previously saw online was now before us on a unique double sided placemat menu. So many choices. Waiter brought us some ice water right away, so I asked a few questions about the sushi. He informed us that he had fresh tuna caught that very morning! The waiter (chef?) asked me some more questions about what I like, what I'm wanting to try, how spicy, etc. I felt like this was a very personal touch because nobody can decide on a dish when the menu has probably 100+ things to choose from. In a short time, he knew what he wanted to make for me. Normally I just go for sushi rolls but this time I felt so comfortable trusting his suggestion. He said "I will make you fresh tuna sashimi Thai salad. How spicy do you like it? 1 is mild and 4 is hot. 5 is Thai spice. Hot." Normally I order as hot as they let me and its never really that hot, so I went for the spice level #5, "Thai hot." OMG it delivered the punch I'd been seeking for years. Within a few minutes, my brow was glistening with sweat and the flavors were just out of this world. A few more minutes my nose starts running. Then sweat starts dripping down the back of my neck and ears. Then the body shivers. Then cold sweats. It was HOT but so good and impossible to stop. My partner was getting kick out of watching me go through such intense burning pleasure. It was seriously one of the best dining experiences of my life, and I've been to some pretty high end sushi joints before. Waiter was very attentive and nice. We snapped a picture of the place including the sushi bar and drinks. We inquired about some brightly colored bottles of saki and he offered us some which he brought out in a bucket of ice to chill it. Clouded Strawberry Saki, chilled - amazing! Tiger Tears Thai Tuna salad - life changing!!! Green Curry with Chicken, to go - oh so savory and comforting in these cold months! I seriously want to try everything on the menu and cannot wait to go back. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Other competition in Alamosa better watch out because this one is truly a gem that shines above others in so many ways. Family lunch today could not have gone better. The staff are great, very nice very caring. The food is wonderful along with the ambiance. I tried something new today, Unagi Don. The presentation alone was beautiful I almost did not want to ruin it. It tasted wonderful. We also had some of the tuna tataki which was just the same. Both dishes melt in your mouth. They present things very beautifully. Drink selections vary so I'm sure any picky eater can find something to their liking. read more

We wanted something close to our hotel after driving over four hours. Found Sushi Thai on Yelp and thought we'd give a go. One of our kids had the drunken noodles with beef and the other the chicken teriyaki. Both enjoyed their food. I had miso soup to start and the Thai fried rice with tofu. Very tasty! The tofu in the fried rice was fried nicely to add some flavor and texture. I got pad thai with chicken for my wife (she was watching our dog) and she enjoyed hers as well. I ordered the Panang Chicken Curry and it was just the right spiciness and the coconut milk gave it a nice flavor. In the San Luis Valley, it is difficult to find good food with good service at a clean and comfortable restaurant. We found all three criterions at the Sushi Thai Alamosa. I had the Sashimi Deluxe and my husband had the Lobster Monster. We were pleasantly surprised with the artistic plating of our food. Fish was fresh and delicious. After a long day of driving, we were hoping that sushi Thai would be a the best place for us to have a decent dinner. We ordered two veggie pad Thai and asked for them to be as spicy as they possibly could make. Once we got the our hotel, we sat down and started to eat our food only for it to be super mild and not what we'd hope for. The pad Thai was super underseasoned.
