This diner was the perfect pit stop on the way to New Mexico or Denver, right off the highway, so you don't lose much time with a detour. It's a classic, no-frills diner with lots of BLT options, but if you're vegetarian like me, there are some solid choices too: a black bean burger, corn on the cob, beans, and broccoli. The place was very clean, the service was good, and the vibe was relaxed. A nice, chill spot with a highway view, great for a quiet meal on the road.

This was our second visit and we couldn't be happier to have a wonderful local gem! Service is great! We've now had three different omelets while enjoying this establishment and the amount of mushrooms in the western omelet is amazing along with their ranchero sauce and jalapeño cheese sauce! It's a very clean establishment and is a must stop in Fort Garland! The homemade cinnamon rolls are to die for and they serve alcohol, which is nice for those occasions. Avery has been extremely friendly every time and we look forward to our next visit. It's also nice to know that his dad does all the cooking and you can tell everything is made with care! All of our visits so far have been in the winter time but we are looking forward to enjoying their patio come summer

Service was fast and excellent. Server knew the menu and had great recommendations. I went with the chicken and waffles either BBQ sauce. It was absolutely delicious. Chicken was crispy and flavorful. I definitely will be back.

This Diner is fantastic!!! The service was excellent! The food was excellent! We had chicken fried steak and I think it was the best I have ever eaten. The restaurant was very clean, portions are very generous and the complementary bread pudding was delicious. You can definitely tell the owners take pride in the service and food. It really made my day better to have such a great lunch and friendly waiter.

What a wonderful find on our leaf peeping weekend drive. It was my birthday today and these guys made it extra special! The food was delicious- homemade biscuits, perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and amazing pancakes!!

Loved this place! Stopped here for the first time on the way from Denver to Taos and it was perfect. Right on the way, very friendly/helpful staff and delicious food! I got the grilled chicken salad (that had been marinated overnight) and my husband got the chicken sandwich. The French fries are THICK and perfect highly recommend stopping here for a meal and supporting this business

Decent food and good service. A bit slow but it's small place. Lots of locals were eating here so it must be yummy. It was! Decent prices.

The food is not homemade unless #10 cans count as homemade now. Hate it when cooks lie.

Once you get what you need, you ca be off to your destination in the matter of a few to several minutes as it's close to I-25. The young lady upfront who assisted me was very welcoming and sweet. Her pleasantness was probably the best thing I got out of the visit. As I stated, what I needed was an iced doppio and possibly a little bite to eat. Whereas they may make great craft beverages, the selection of the pastries was very limited. I wanted something savory but there was literally nothing for me to choose out of what they had (they all looked not-so-fresh sweet pastries. Not sure if they rotate the baked goods.) The shop is kind of cute inside. And it's not only a coffee shop but also a souvenir shop (or specialty retail shop to be exact.) I didn't bother to look at any of the retail items as I was in a hurry to get home. I read others' reviews and one of them said that the shop doesn't have any tables/chairs to sit down and sip your beverage. It's true; I don't remember seeing any. The same person went onto say that they don't have wifi so no work on your laptop is an option. In all technicality, this is a place to shop for retail stuff and grab a cup of coffee and off you go type place. If that still suits you then stop here.

After seeing the ad for Alys' in the local paper for years, we finally tried it and loved it! Fantastic food, charming ambiance and super friendly folks. They have a limited menu and extensive wine list, but everything was delicious! To fully appreciate the experience, you have to shed your expectations of a traditional fine dining experience. This is more like going to your favorite Aunt's house for dinner who happens to be a gourmet cook and talented wine collector. The place is literally a residential building. Walk in the front door of the house into a front room that houses a awesome (and great priced) wine collection, then you are seated in a modest but comfortable dining room. We were handed a wine list before a menu and then after the wine was poured, the server verbally shared the few entre options (no prices). I had the NY strip, my wife ordered the grilled tuna, and both were outstanding. No appetizers offered, but your meal comes with a choice of soup or salad. Nice dessert options. The vibe is definitely more private dinner party than commercial enterprise. The bill was startingly modest. Reservations are required, and Alys treats everyone like a personal guest whether you know her well or just met her. Enjoy!

Our server (unfortunately I don't remember his name) asked if we wanted a wine list but we decided against it (my grandmother ended up getting the cab later, one of the smoothest wines she has ever had and it was only 6 dollars). He brought out our antipasto which was a tomato pesto (forgot the name unfortunately), sheep cheese, and Chinese 5 seasoned pork with fresh bread, truly delicious. Our appetizer choices were house salad or New England clam chowder, my grandmother got the salad I got the clam chowder, I have to admit I was a little skeptical when it came out, I prefer a thicker clam chowder, but this was truly one of the best clam chowders I have ever had, and I am from a costal state. My grandmother loved her salad. It is an entirely verbal menu, he gave us 7ish (maybe 8 lol) different options, I went with the Duck confit with a blackberry currant glaze, jasmine rice, and brown beech mushroom and green bean. My grandmother had the teriyaki pork loin chop on jasmine rice paired with the beech mushroom and green beans. I have been to France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Gordon Ramseys Hell's Kitchen, and other Michelin restaurants. When I say this is truly the best piece of poultry I have ever consumed, I mean it. It was tender but not mushy, the rice was cooked perfectly and the glaze brought just enough sweetness and tartness to balance the fat from the duck. It was one of the only meals I have ever consumed and absolutely loved every aspect of. I don't even like mushrooms and I ate every single one. My grandmother loved her food, she has been having some slight stomach issues and she said it felt very good to her body. The loin was evidently pulled just before 145, allowing it to rest and remain extra, extraordinarily juicy and tender, the teriyaki sauce was sweet but not too sweet, it had just the perfect amount of tang as well as notes of ginger I believe. For desert we had the crème brûlée which was extraordinary, one of the best I have ever had. I talked with the head chef (he went to a culinary school in Scottsdale Arizona), and he was a very kind man who brought out our crème brûlée personally to us. If you are hearing all of this and thinking "man this is out of my price range" it is priced at $40 dollars for the antipasto, the soup/salad, and the entree, which is absolutely ludicrous for this quality of food, they could easily charge 60-80 a plate. I highly recommend you give this place a try.
