Enjoyed a quick bite here. We ate early so we had the place to ourselves when we arrived (people were starting to trickle in as we left.) Big menu... sushi, teriyaki, noodle bowls, salads, etc etc We had tom kha gai (coconut soup with chicken), salmon teriyaki and red curry. Soup had good flavor, lots of chicken & plenty of veggies. Salmon was tasty with carrots, cabbage & broccoli. Red curry was VERY GOOD! The star of the show tonight. We drained every drop! Seasoned well for us...a touch of heat and very flavorful. Sadly, no room for dessert... Unbeknownst to me & my crew, we popped into Thai Hut during the dragging of Main Street in the middle of the Early Iron Festival, Alamosa's premier car show on 9/2/2023. We didn't get a very peaceful dinner due to the souped-up motors, but it was mostly enjoyable. My significant other and I agree that the sushi place down the street is just a little bit better, but not by much. This place used to exist across the street and further down the road. I verified that with our friendly and efficient host/waiter. Here was our supper of the things I actually tried: Spring rolls ($5.95) - they were okay. My daughter who ordered them wasn't a fan. Crab rangoon - good ($5.95) Egg rolls - really good ($5.95) Mince pork noodle soup - it tasted decent, but I can see why my daughter preferred her pork not minced ($10.95) Top Model roll - very tasty ($15.95) Thai iced tea - way too sweet for me. I didn't even have boba ($3.95). Taro boba tea - not too sweet. The boba was nice & chewy ($5.50). I'd go here again if a friend chose the spot. I'd stick to sushi. No rice noodles for me! read more

I said hello when I entered, but received no greeting back. The server was apathetic and made no eye contact with me, but was friendly and kind with other patrons. When I ordered he became impatient because he didn't know what was on the menu. When I pointed it out he became noticeably annoyed. I told him what I was starting with and he took away the menu. I had to ask him to return it so I could order an entree. The seaweed salad was frozen. The crab rangoon was tepid. The sushi they gave me was offensive - a piece of imitation crab meat, warm yellowtail, chewy shrimp, and salmon I didn't eat because it looked diseased. My jasmine tea was served and spilled and no attempt to wipe it up. I was so thoroughly disappointed that I barely ate my food. I paid, left and went to get dinner elsewhere. Came in from Dallas on our way to Denver... on a Saturday night. Drink menu was too elaborate for their knowledge of alcohol. For example, they had a Tom Kha Martini listed... not available she said. Husband started naming other possibilities when she says: Mai Tai. Sure, ok... Granted you are out in the middle of nowhere. Now, I'm skeptical about the food. Mai Tai was a-typical, but good albeit I don't like sweets. So, now I'm craving Tom Kha Soup. So, that's what I go to order... Oh, that's an appetizer. Huh? Why are they not listed in the appetizer section of the menu? Ok, I'll have that and ummm, the salmon salad (not listed on online menus). It was great. The soup... not so much. It was super salty, and lacking in the complex spices. However, I don't fault them too much being in the middle of nowhere with limited access to those special ingredients that go in Tom Kha. Food is authentic and fresh. Service was timely and courteous. There is calming and relaxing music in the background. The restaurant was extremely clean and in good order. I was excited to try but the food fell short. The red curry was the consistency of soup. Seemed like it was chicken broth with chili oil and not the traditional coconut milk and curry texture. The veggies were fine and so was the chicken. The pineapple fried rice didn't taste right and lacked flavor. I'll be brief, Pad Thai and soup for lunch we're amazing. Wife had Green Curry with Chicken and loved it. Kids had pineapple curry and loved it, wished they'd gone from a 2 spicy to a 3 or even 4 to balance out the sweetness better. The sweet rice and banana deserts, 2 separate deserts, were phenomenal! Service was incredibly friendly and polite, a huge . That place has a bit of a "hole-in-the-wall" feel but had cool Thai decor and was clean. Bathrooms were clean and smelled good. Open floor tables and booths along the walls, clean, and nice interior design and decorations. Great service, affordable lunch specials. Plates are good, nothing extraordinary. Sushi rolls are poor to mediocre. Sushi rice in my Dragon Roll was old, consistency too sticky and grayish in color. Shrimp was not fresh, looked like it had been fried once, then flash fried again. Consistency was tough and it had not been tempura battered as advertised. Overall, food quality was mediocre to poor. If you're expecting high quality ingredients and food cooked fresh to order, you will be disappointed. If you expect large portions, affordable prices, and mediocre food quality, you will be pleased. read more

This is a sweet place to eat Thai food in Alamosa. We travel a lot and visit many states and are foodies. The food here is just amazing. We didn't have much expectations when we entered the restaurant bc it's such a small town. But the sushi rolls and the pineapple fried rice is just great. Even the picky youngest in our family eat the chicken satay, drank the Thai tea with boba. The owner is really great. Will be back soon. read more

We ordered crab Rangoon as an appetizer, which had a Smokey cream cheese flavor and slightly spicey red sweet and sour sauce. This place is not the place to stop for lunch. They don't have really anything on their lunch menu available, they said it is because they are short staffed due to the pandemic, I think that they just want people to order higher priced items. I got the teriyaki chicken, it was just okay. I paid over $17 at lunch for what was supposed to be a regular portion, but seemed like a tiny amount of food. We were visiting from out of town and were passing through. Truthfully, expectations were not high for this Thai restaurant in this small town. We ordered Thai bobas and a jazzmen tea. They all exceeded expectations! We got ginger chicken and sweet and sour chicken for dinner, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Thai hut! Once more surprised to find and Asian Restaurant with such good food while in New Mexico. It was close to our hotel, clean, good service, prices reflected current events in our country today. The tale I am about to tell you is one of hope, tragedy, fear, disassociation, and disillusionment. There was a time when I wanted--nay, craved--Thai Hut. I even had a favorite: pineapple fried rice with tofu. I would dream of that pineapple, I would dream of that tofu. I now take us to February 27th, 2019. Pisces season. The moon, in a waning crescent phase. We are seated at approximately 5:38 pm. Me & my gals. Looking for some fried rice, looking for some curry. The night starts normal enough. We order drinks, we order food. A solid 35 minutes pass. We finally receive our Diet Coke & Thai Iced tea. 6:20 pm rolls around. We have somewhere to be, sure, but we're not stressed. Good things take time, as they say. At a full hour into our wait, the salad finally arrives. The entire table slowly picks at the one, lowly salad. We've run out of items to snack on. One of us begins to eat sugar packets; the other, licking the ginger dressing from the plate. At approximately 6:48 pm, we're sure we're being ignored. While I've always thought that being ever so slightly abused was part of the upscale Asian-fusion dining experience, I've become anxious. Have they had to go find the nearest pineapple tree? God only knows where that is. We near the two hour mark. Maniacal laughter has ensued. All our water cups are empty. I should also mention that there are only about 5 other groups seated in the restaurant the entire time we are there. At about 7:12 pm, our waitress comes over to let us know that our food is being worked on, that the chef had to go get pineapple. I suspect our beautiful, terrifying waitress heard us making pineapple tree jokes. Also worth noting: the table beside us, who was seated around the same time as us, had pineapple on their plate. Multiple parties have completed their dining experience, start to finish. Have we been targeted? Is this--homophobic? 3/4th of our party are on the Kinsey scale. Could they smell the gay? At 7:35 pm, we decide to get up and leave. We ended up at St. Ives and had a good time. The Voice was on the TV there. I had a blue moon or two. Yum. We are still really unsure if any of this was real, if we fell into some kind of purgatory or something. Anyways, this was hands-down the worst dining experience I've ever had in my life. I feel, traumatized, somehow. I give Thai Hut one star though, because I didn't have to pay for my Thai Iced Tea and also because I don't think yelp will let me give zero stars. At hour 2 of not receiving food or hearing anything from the staff while waiting for our meals we literally left. I will never come back and have Post Thai Hut Trauma™ over the unprofessional behavior of the staff. We were not given water. They didn't come to our table for over an hour and there was only a couple other tables seated. I've had slow service a couple times at Thai hut before but you kinda know to expect that from them. I've waited over 30 minutes before just to get my check when they had maybe 3-4 tables seated. I've also called ahead for take out and still had to wait an extra 30 minutes passed the time they told me. This time was beyond anything I've ever experienced because it almost felt vindictive of the staff to have very few tables seated and not come up to us for over an hour. If you do decide to go here I would recommend eating a small meal before because it's going to be awhile before your served and bring your own water bottle. Or, love yourself, and just go to Calvillos. It's not Thai food but it's the best service I've ever received every single time I go there. It's always fast and you get free queso with your free chips and salsa and they have also given a free tequila shot or sopapilla to my entire table every time I've gone. If you're craving Thai/Chinese/Japanese food there's always Hunans or you can go to tempura house but it's owned by the same people but at least the staff is great and it's faster. read more

After listening to the waitress complain about no staff and unable to find fresh produce, to sell to public, along with only being her and the cook to operate. We asked her about mixed drinks, she said rather sell us bourbon than put her through the trouble to make a bloody marry. So ordered hot tea instead. Then she showed up with this nasty tasting bloody mary. Had to remind her to bring my tea instead. I ordered the most expensive dinner on menu, steak with teriyaki, which was so tough that my steak knife would not cut it. Not to mention that the veggies was extremely cold. Seriously delicious! Had the Pad Kee Mao, and it was some of the best I have had! Stands up to big city 'authentic' Thai places!!!! Expect and enjoy the leftovers, as the portions are quite large. Aloy mak mak! I've eaten here many times and all of the dishes and sushi is so good! The sushi is very fresh and the owners are always traveling far to make sure the supplies is fresh and the best! My absolute favorites are the beef salad, pad Thai, dragon roll, and when they have it, the red snapper and duck curry.
