Tonight was my second time eating here while on a work trip and it was as good as I remembered. I love going places that are local when I travel and this place feels like having dinner at a family member's. The house chianti and Pinot noir are both decent for house selections. On Wednesday it's only $6 a glass. I tend to go for a ravioli. The first time there I had the mushroom ravioli, which was absolute perfection tonight I had the lobster ravioli, which was still very good. The bread they bring out at the beginning is absolutely delicious with the infused oil on the table, although I do wish they had cracked pepper. It is a very loud place to eat, but it feels festive and not annoying. The desserts are also very good. We drove an hour and 20 minutes specifically for this restaurant from Pennsylvania. This is one of my FAVORITE restaurants. I am a big believer in Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. This place was featured on it! The home feeling to this place is awesome! They treat you like one of their own family members. It is decorated with family photos throughout and tons of awards for the Delaware/Wilmington area! It feels like a true italian family setting. Now for the food..... They bring you out what feels like a loaf of italian bread! I go here specifically to purchase the Guy Fieri Favorite ...and let me tell you, he's not wrong. Beef Braciole, homemade meatballs, sausage, meat ravioli, cheese ravioli, and spaghetti. Homemade traditional red sauce. The pasta is made every morning. I can't rave about this dish enough! The Chicken Alfredo comes with 2 cutlets. The homemade Alfredo sauce is also fantastic. You will definitely need a to go box! Now lets talk about the soup. Simple, but such a great item. This soup has to be the cure to the common cold. It takes you back to grandma's house as a kid eating chicken broth with noodles. The difference is the homemade pasta pearls. This was such a disappointment. I had been excited to try their food based on the menu. Unfortunately, the food was so far below what it should've been, I could've done better at home. We ordered the Guy F tasting menu and bolognese. The sauce was flat, almost like it came out of a jar but before it had been seasoned. The pasta was dry and unevenly cooked (some al dente, some softer). Hubby says the portion of meat he had seemed ok, but nothing special. As far as service, it was blah. Maybe the waitress was new? As soon as we sat, we were asked for our orders/drinks. She brought our drinks quickly after which we ordered an appetizer and our main course. The calamari came (again, it was dry and bland, with a chewy texture vs crisp) and a couple minutes later, with our table full of dishes, the main courses came which left almost no room to maneuver for our meal. We left the restaurant so quickly after we started on our main course. It was truly one of the worst meals we have had in several years. I'm pretty easy going, and it takes a lot to get me to not enjoy myself when I eat out (it's a treat!) but this restaurant is going on a short "Never Again" for reasons of food quality. Apparently Guy Fieri was here! Ordered the spaghetti and meatballs togo on ubereats and was blown away by the portion size. It was humongous! The pasta (egg pasta btw) was cooked al dente, and the sauce coated the noodles nicely without being too salty. Although i do wish there was a third meatball instead of two, just to balance out the proportion of carbs to protein. Overall enjoyed my lunch! read more

My wife and I stopped there a few nights ago. Family run business, founded by a woman, still run by a woman! Their homemade pasta and sauce is very delicious, the meatball was excellent. I had the Italian Porkette Platter, I'm telling you it was amazing with mash potatoes and Brocolli Rabe. I had the house wine Cabinet, very good. Expresso and Capuchino was good, next time I think I'll go with the Canoli instead of the cheese cake wasn't a fan. The ambieance was like an old Italian Resturant in the 70's in NY Little Italy. Oh Guy Fieri, you've done me wrong. We took a short road trip to Delaware to check out the authentic and highly recommended Mrs. Robino's and I was so sadly disappointed. Italian is my all time favorite and homemade scratch pasta always steals my heart. This however... not so much. This pitiful dark, dirty multi-roomed "restaurant" with bath and bodywork's candles burning on odd empty tables had me questioning if we even wanted to stay. Homestyle. I told myself. Let just pretend we are in Nona's cramped row home on a holiday. How dare I insult any Italian grandma that way. We ordered the "Guys sampler" and the way overcooked Braciole was simmering far too long and had a burnt sauce flavor and chewy texture. Not to mention the toothpicks that simmered so long they were broken down within the meat. The spaghetti was more of a Bucatini and way too thick. The ravioli were thick and could have been rolled thinner but were the only edible part of the meal. My chicken parm was pitiful. I've honestly had better at the Olive Garden. The sauce... the deep dark red sauce that topped everything was thick and pasty. Barely seasoned and lackluster. Our waitress was barely attentive and disappeared leaving us wanting for more refills on our drinks and then took forever to get our check to us. I give three stars to be generous just in case this was an off occurrence, but will not return for a second chance. read more

Salad was full abd tasty Speghetti may have originally been hand made but this batch had been in the water too long. My friend and I had a lovely time at Mrs. Robino's. Our waitress was kind and caring, even when the restaurant was busy for lunch, and the overall atmosphere is very homey. People who thinks it's too small or dark must be used to dining at...Walmart? My friend had the pastina, a classic home-style soup I don't see often enough. I had the spechazzo sandwich: cubed veal, red sauce, and I added sharp provolone and broccoli rabe for just $1 each. The veal was melt-in-your-mouth tender, softer than you'd get in veal Parmesan, which was perfect for this sandwich. Ordered Guy's Tasting and I wonder what Guy said about it... Not sure if the pasta can be called pasta because they were soft like lo mein. The sauce was a plain tomato sauce and I don't understand why the kitchen thinks it's a good idea to flood the plate with tomato sauce. The three meats in the dish were tasteless, especially the beef-- dry and bland. The brussel sprouts were greasy and lacking seasoning. It is evident that no one in the kitchen has functional gustation and the same said to the people running this business. I rate it one star because there's no way to give it a zero. Mrs. Robino's was very nice. It is located close to the Wilmington Waterfront and has been featured in Guy Fieri's television show. I really enjoyed all of the picture frames they have throughout the restaurant. It's like Tony Soprano, and all renowned Italian actors, ate here. Our server, Bill, did a very good job. He kept us very comfortable and kept our drinks refilled. We really enjoyed the crispy cauliflower appetizer. They were cooked to perfection and the seasoning placed them on another level. We shared the Margherita Pizza. The pizza was thin, which I prefer, had fresh ingredients, and was at the right temperature throughout the meal. The cheese raviolis came with a large meatball and the sauce was flavorful. Don't hesitate to come into Mrs. Rabino's. You will enjoy a nice Italian meal and leave satisfied. read more

Not sure what to say except this isn't Italian food. When we left we took the leftovers with us to be polite but threw it in the garbage when we got back to Long Island. I have never seen sauce like this. It looked like brown mud. I think people that like this place, must have never had real quality Italian food. I am finally getting around to doing this review. It has been over 30 years since I last dined here. The restaurant was crowded and our server was attentive. There are a couple of dining areas. They are all pretty loud and somewhat cramped, but manageable. Parking arrangements are a bit unique, but there are available spots. After an appetizer of arancini, my wife got the veal cutlet, my daughter got the chicken parmesan, and I got the beef braciole (the Guy Fieri special). The food came out rather quickly, but still seemed rather lukewarm. They tend to use a lot of sauce, so be aware if you like a lesser amount. I still can't seem to find a place that has a braciole like my mom made. This braciole was good, but really garlicky. The homemade pasta is excellent and makes the trip worth the trouble. That's why they've been around for so long. Mrs. Robino's is a Wilmington landmark and a must visit. read more

Amazing Italian restaurant with great staff and even better ambiance. We went in and were immediately greeted by 3 people and quickly brought to our seats. The wait staff was one of the best i've ever had, our waitress was super helpful with recommendations and super bubbly. She immediately got us some waters and bread. The bread was delicious, especially with the 3 different oils on the table. I got what I believe was the tour of Italy. It came with meatballs, homemade pasta, a sausage, a meat ravioli, and a cheese ravioli. The red sauce was amazing and the homemade pasta was delicious. I also got to try to my girlfriends pasta that had white sauce, chicken, and mushrooms. It is genuinely one of the top 5 pastas i've had. The sauce was absolutely delicious and everything in the dish worked amazing together. I would go back just to buy another dish of this. Above all, the portion sizes were absolutely massive. I cannot think of the last time I couldn't finish what I ordered at a restaurant, but Mrs. Robinos had me beat. I only got through about 2/3 of it and had enough for lunch the next day. My girlfriend made 2 more meals out of it. All in all, I had one of the best dining experiences i've ever had here and would love to come back. You know you are off to a good start when you are promptly seated by friendly wait staff and presented with a loaf of fresh crunchy Italian bread. Our lunch here was delicious from start to end. Our soups were hot a delicious. The Italian Wedding soup was just like my mom made, with small chunks of egg omelette and plenty of meatballs and spinach. The Pasta Fagioli was full of beans and small pasta squares in a fresh tomato broth. We really loved the antipasto chopped salad full of salami and provolone cheese, sweet peppers , hot cherry peppers,celery,tomato,olives and egg. Everything was fresh. The small portion we ordered was actually huge, we took some home. The Italian Porkette Platter was also a huge portion and we took some of that home also. The pork was tender with lots of juice. It was accompanied by perfectly cooked broccoli rabe,so tender and bright green. The platter also had chunky mashed potatoes with some skin covered by that delicious pork juice. Had lunch here yesterday. One of us had a pepperoni pizza, which had a great crust; the crust was the highlight of the pizza. Another of us had chicken parmigiana. There were two sizable chicken cutlets that looked homemade to me (some other reviews said it seemed store bought but it looked breaded in-house to me). This came with a big portion of (overcooked) sauce-loaded spaghetti. Finally, I had the Guy's Special that had a piece of Braciole, a meatball, and a sausage. It also came with a sizable helping of spaghetti. I was surprised the sausage was not more tender; it was good sausage but would be better if it were tenderer to cut into. The meatball was good. The Braciole was dry, but then, Braciole is usually dry because it is a tough cut of meat that simmers for a long time. So beyond that it seemed overcooked and very soft, as were the toothpicks in it. I didn't dislike it but it wasn't great. One thing I do not get is why so much sauce is put on the food. I love sauce but the food is buried in it. I have to think that maybe this helps mask that the pasta, which is clearly really homemade, is over cooked. As other reviews have said, it seems precooked and then warmed before serving. It is too soft but has a flavor that says it was made in house. My lunch also had some beef ravioli with it. They were homemade but the filling did not have much flavor; it too was dominated by the sauce that was on the entire platter. To me it seemed like they need to go way lighter on the sauce, simmer the sausage longer in sauce, and get the Braciole out of simmer sooner. And the pasta would be great al dente. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She made a helpful point of noting the lunch prices were only available on weekdays so we would not be mistaken in ordering. She apologized for the long wait between the pizza being served and the other entrees coming out. The restaurant is not fancy by any means but seemed pretty clean. As this area, including S. Jersey and Philly, is a major market for good Italian dining options, I would not make a special trip here again. There are many many other better choices. I would not pass on returning here, however, if I were nearby. read more

Yes to Mrs. Robino's - since forever! I have been eating at this family-owned restaurant since I was a kid, and my parents can say the very same. It's so rare to find a generationally-owned family restaurant these days, and especially one that still makes their own sauce AND pasta. The restaurant is tucked away on Union street in a former home decorated with legacy family portraits. On any given day of the week you'll find locals sharing family meals. The space is much larger than it appears when you walk in with several different rooms that also work great for private events. The best part? It's very affordable and fast! Fresh pasta cooks pretty damn quick, after all. Their dishes come in small portions which will leave most people full or large portions which are great for sharing, leftovers or the super hungry. LOVE this family staple in Wilmington. Hope it is around for future generations to enjoy! I ordered the lasagne and a friend ordered the lobster ravioli. She loved her lobster rav but for me the lasagne was a nice portion but I didn't like their sauce or the ricotta. Unfortunately for them I'm an Italian cook and I just thought the sauce was too pastey and the ricotta was less than expected. The $19.00 price tag for totally fine. I'm a fierro's ricotta fan and anything less I don't really like. They also don't use locatelli and they did have some type of Parmesan but this is a restaurant and I'm sure they have to deal with cost and availability of a product. The waitress was very nice and tipped her heavily as I've been in the service industry my whole life and they deserve it. Food - On Triple D Guy tried which was the meat raviolis.  The sauce was great, too many are overly sweet.  This was one was not.  The pasta were little rectangles packed with meat.  There was also one meatball on the plate.  I would order this again. Service - Three in the afternoon the place was pretty empty.  My waiter only had one other table but I could tell he was still taking care of chores.  Service was spot on. Went to visit this restaurant for the very first time last night. I had been wanting to go ever since I saw it on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and for no particular reason just never had gotten around to it. I feel like maybe the hype was greater than it should have been. I mean, I'd definitely go again as it was decent Italian food, but I wasn't blown away. The rice balls I had as an appetizer and the long hots I tried were extremely delicious and I definitely recommend them. For my meal I tried the chicken Josephine, which is basically grilled chicken breast strips tossed with mushrooms and house Alfredo sauce served over fettuccini. I felt the sauce was bland and I didn't love how thin the fettuccine noodles were. The other dish I tried was the beef braciole, and I felt the meat was a bit dried out. While I didn't try the homemade spaghetti it came with, the dish's owner did say that it was delicious. The garlic bread was huge and full of lots of garlic chunks, which was a plus. I will also say there was definitely a lot of food, regardless of what you ordered. One pasta dish can definitely feed two. I'll also say I felt the service was just average as well, having to wait for water a time or two and wait for the bill to finally come. Overall, I'd give this 3.5 stars if I could (but there are no half stars unfortunately). I would be willing to try it again though and if I do I'll add another update to this review. read more

Since I moved to Delaware a year and a half ago, I've been searching for really good Italian food. I lived in Brooklyn my entire life up until moving here, in a predominantly Italian neighborhood for the majority of my life. I was surrounded by Italian restaurants, American-Italian really, with more traditional restaurants sprinkled throughout. During covid, I've been looking for the comfort of good Italian food like what I grew up with, and a lot of people recommended Mrs. Robino's as being some of the best Italian food they ever had. So naturally, I had to try it out. I always try to keep my expectations realistic so as to not be biased when I try new places, so I tried not to compare to the restaurants I grew up with or my Sicilian families cooking, and gave it a try. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo Parm with Fettuccine. While the chicken was nicely seasoned and tasted pretty good on its own, there was way too much sauce, and it tasted like cream. Alfredo sauce is traditionally made with butter and parmigiano-reggiano. Sometimes people like adding other things, like garlic, black pepper or herbs, but butter and PR are the two OG ingredients. Adding a little cream is an American modification, and I'm not saying it's a bad one! But it really ruins the dish when it's excessive. And in this case, it was all I could taste. Not the butter, and definitely not the PR. It was unpleasant. The lasagna was decent, but the sauce was lacking a bit. That being said, the Canneloni Florentine was very good. It had a great flavor, good seasoning, presentable, and it had a nice white sauce... so not sure what went wrong with the alfredo there! But with everything considered, and because the Canneloni was so enjoyable, I would definitely come back and try other items. I'm giving three stars for now based on my experience with the meal I ordered, but please remember that if you are curious to try this restaurant, you should try it for yourself. I also am in the minority here, so you should absolutely come to your own conclusions. read more

Food isn't what it use to be. Its not consistent. Sometimes we go its just ok, sometimes good, times awful. Last nite I ordered the Gnocchi w mushrooms. It looked amazing in the video ( they show video clips of the entrees on the movie slide) It was smothered in a heavy cram sauce. Way too much! No need for all that and it was extremely salty. The desert was one of my favorites, lemon cello cake I don't know what happened, but it was so tiny. It was enough to feed a baby. Anyway as for my entree The potential for a great dish was there. I ordered takeout. Picked it up on time. The meal was lousy. The spaghetti was overcooked. The sauce was just ok and the meatballs were good. The Calamari was poor. I love Calamari but this was overcooked, soft and mushy. The sauce with was horrible. The tossed salad consisted of only lettuce pieces and two slices of tomato sliced large and nothing else. The dressing was Italian and adequate. Honestly the sliced bread with the order which was an extra charge was the best part of the meal. I'm very disappointed.
