Captain Robert was not only extremely friendly, he put us right on the fish. We had an amazing day l. Both of my sons and I caught our biggest fish ever today. Goliath Groupers. Four of the six were over 100 lbs. we caught all kinds of bait fish, mangrove snapper, Jack, and a bunch of barracuda. She is not an angler and did not fish. She DID, however, photograph the entire trip - me fighting and landing a 36 inch, 35 lb Black Drum (see pics above), a wonderful assortment of beautiful birds, including bald eagles that Capt. Mike whistles for, then throws a fish that the eagle swoops in on and cleanly snatches from the water, a raccoon swimming, yes swimming from one island to another. You get the picture here. So I am surprised at all of the 5 star reviews. We booked an all day (8 hour) charter with Captain Mike. When we arrived Captain Steve would be our Captain. All of us were very disappointed, but not because of the lack of fish. We are all right handed fisher-people and have always reeled with our right hand and pulled with our left hand. Captain Steve made us all reel with our left hand to pull with our right hand. Because of learning this new skill we lost MANY fish - all four of us. When chartering an expensive outing is NOT the proper time to develop a new way to reel fish in. Capt Steve also yelled at us when we would lose a fish. He even referred to one of us as an "Idiot." I would not book with Ms.B.Haven Fishing again and suggest others do more research. read more

Captain Stephen was awesome! We caught Spanish mackerel, a variety of snapper, and two sharks! Followed by dolphin sightings which Steve turned into dolphins jumping at the back of the boat. Looking for a great time on the water look no further My wife and I went on an 8hr fishing trip with Capt. Bill on Ms. B Haven the 25 ft boat for our anniversary. We had a great time from the time we left the dock. We seen a school of bottle nose dolphins, birds and a large sea turtle. Now the fun part is when Capt. Bill put us on the fish and talking about non-stop action fish-on fish-on fish-on and fish-on continuous my wife literally had to take a break because her arms were hurting from the rod and reel. We caught Yellowtail Snappers, Mangrove Snappers, Lane Snappers, Vermilion Snappers, Red Groupers, Strawberry Groupers, Almaco Jacks, Blue Runners, Cobia, Porgy, and a huge Lemon Shark. Great experience on the fish hunter with Captain Steven. Our day started with trying to catch bait and then headed out to catch some HUMUNGOUS FISH ! We caught fish so big it took 2 people to get them on the boat !!! Enough said ... It's all about he total experience on the water and I can say this was he best charter I've been on . I've been on many $$ pricey charters where we caught more fish than we did that day and this was by far the best trip and I have had. This was my sons first time on he gulf waters, and the captain was excellent with teaching and explaining the process of gulf waters fishing and answering every question my son had. My 2 boys and I had a great trip. The weather was not the best and we high some high winds which kept us inland. Captain Steve provided us with an excellent day out on the gulf. He had a fun personality and was a very knowledgeable fisherman. Our group consisted of intermediate fishers and a novice. I recently went out with Captain Hunter and had the most amazing experience. I had found him on tripadvisor, and all of the reviews were spot on. He really is the best of the best. He took us out to a spot that was great for fishing. We caught a tiger and nurse shark as well as an 80 lb grouper! I just returned from a trip to Naples and I felt it only fitting to write a review about such a compelling experience on Captain Mike's charter over the course of two days. First, let me say that I am by no means a seasoned fisherman. In fact, I only recently picked up the hobby partly in hopes of sharing unique lifelong memories with my kids and partly because it was something I had always wanted to do but didn't get the chance to as a kid. Over the past year or so since we began, we have had some fun and enjoyed ourselves. Nothing however could have prepared me for this charter. I booked Captain Mike a week or so in advance based on the reviews that I read on tripadvisor and I can attest that Mike truly does live up to the hype and all the expectations you will have once you get through reading all these rave reviews praising his abilities. Making the reservation was effortless with an initial call at first, along with a follow up the night before confirming the details.Having initially booked a half day charter for my son and I, we arrived at 7am excited to see what was in store for us. Captain Mike is the real deal. His knowledge is vast and he has such an admirable command over the water and the surrounding areas. His eye is keen - clearly honed after years and years of fishing experience under his belt. Life on the water is clearly a way of life for Captain Mike and all things fishing and marine are his ultimate passion. This is not just a job to him and it is clearly evident. It appears he rarely purchases his bait at the dock; opting instead to catch his own close to shore. I watched in awe as we pulled close to shore in the midst of morning sunrise as he showed my son how to cast the net and reel in a net full of fresh bait. This is clearly a testament to how great he really is at this and a great indication of how good this trip was going to be. We headed out to start grabbing the serious stuff and by 730 had reeled in our first fish. Watching my son reel in his first fish off the edge of a boat was something I will never forget and something I will always be thankful to Mike for. Within the first hour, we pulled in at least 15-20 fish. By trips end, we had caught LOADS and LOADS of fish - Spanish mackerel, snapper, snook....and I mean loads. We had a cooler full and that's not counting the ones we threw back. Needless to say, the time flew by and before we knew it, we were headed back to shore making stops along the way to see Mike's eagle friends swoop down at his command to grab a fresh caught snapper. I knew then that this was a once in a lifetime experience so I immediately booked him again for the following day before we even got off the boat. Day two of fishing I was able to convince my wife to make the trip with us and although reluctant at first, she came and boy what a time she had. Once again, fish after fish - we kept reeling them in. On the way out Captain Mike treated my wife to a dolphin show where they road the wake. I have seen something along these lines before but never so close up in real time. Captain Mike was great with my family. First my son - teaching him tricks of the trade while instilling an overall appreciation for fishing and life on the water. My son is overly inquisitive when it comes to things he enjoys and Mike had patience with him and was such a greater teacher. On our second day my wife snagged a huge turtle that got caught up in our line and reeled it in thinking it was a trophy catch. Mike was there to show her how to handle the rod not get pulled in while cutting the line. Captain Mike filleted our catch upon return to shore both days and we enjoyed some of the freshest fish Florida had to offer those nights. Better than any restaurant we went to while down there. Hands down, this was by far the absolute best part of our trip. I will always return when back in Naples and I am so glad I was fortunate enough to find Captain Mike and his team. This charter is not inexpensive but Mike provides such outstanding service and ensures there's always a reel in your hand. Went out this morning for a 4 hour trip with Capt Steve. A very able capt, new his fish and where to find them. We caught 20 snapper, some very small grouper, a myriad of other fun fighters. I like these guys very personable, excited when you get something on your line and right there to re-bait the hook. Fishing is only fun if you are busy and busy we were. All the great reviews on Mike Bailey are justified - this was the highlight of our trip in Naples. Had a great day (May 9, 2013) and caught a lot of different species of fish, including a couple of sharks that we let go. Mike is a true local and knows where the fish are - he even makes the trip fun and interesting from the beginning - dolphins followed the boat and played in the wake, splashing up in the air! Then, when we were headed back to the dock, 2 eagles recognized him and came to try and catch a fish he had saved for them. Took our catch to The Dock restaurant and they cooked it up with sides and did a terrific job - delicious, and had enough for a big lunch the next day. This is my 3rd time with Captain Robert, he is a local guy who knows the waters in the area very well, he is fun, professional, passionate we came home loaded with fish. During our trip we caught 20+ Mackerel keepers we hit a pocket and the 3 of us were flipping them into the boat one after the other. We also caught Snook, Snapper, and a huge Sea Turtle. On our most recent trip to Naples to visit my in-laws, we booked a last minute fishing expedition with Capt. Mike Bailey and the Ms. B. Haven. We showed up bright and early with smiles on our faces and open minds. Our party consisted of me, my wife Amy and our two children: James, 11 and Aislin, 12 as well as my wife's Mother Dorothy. Captain Mike met us at the dock with a wink and a smile and off we went. We left the dock around 7:00 am and headed out of Gordon Pass and immediately threw out a net to try to catch some bait fish. The net came back empty, so Capt. Mike took us out to a secret spot and got my kids set up with rods and shrimp for to catch us some mackerel to use for bait. We caught a couple of Mackerel, and hooked them up to the heavy deep sea rig, but they both got taken off without my being able to set the hook. While we were waiting to catch another mackerel for bait, something big hit my son's line. After some tough love coaching from Capt. Mike, my son was working that fish and trying to keep up with it. I jumped in to help him get his rhythm and a minute later we saw what had grabbed that little piece of shrimp... it was a huge Tarpon! It jumped out of the water and everyone on the boat said "Oh my Gosh!". Captain Mike said "Did you get that on film?!?" Now that we had an understanding of what was at the other end of that line, things got serious. We took turns working the rod and reel, with my son and daughter both taking shifts as well as myself. We had the fish of a lifetime on a small rod, 45lb test line and a tiny hook. Captain Mike estimated the size of the fish at around 150 lbs. It was amazing to see that fish jump out of the water! Capt. Mike did an amazing job of maneuvering the boat to throw the tarpon off its game and avoid the many underwater structures in the area that the fish could have jumped into and ended our game prematurely. He explained that this was the first tarpon of the season, and that the yearly migration was led by big fish. He was extremely knowledgeable about the fish as well as the area we were fishing in, not to mention the fact that he was just an all-around great guy and was genuinely excited to see my son hook a fish like that. He seemed to know what that fish was going to do, and was able react quickly and in most cases be proactive and take the fish out of its comfort zone. We had that fish on the line for about 90 minutes, and I was starting to think it was losing some steam. At the same time, I was wondering if we were ever going to be able to get that fish to the boat with that small rod and reel. Shortly after that, the fish took off like it was shot out of a cannon; it took about 150 ft. of line off of our reel in about 5 seconds. Capt. Mike said "That fish is running for its life, there is a shark chasing it!" Sure enough, the tarpon jumped up and danced across the water like it had all the energy in the world. It shook its head and zigzagged in mid-air and then the line went slack. The good news was that the tarpon had evaded the shark; the bad news was that it had also evaded us. We were so excited about the experience of having that fish on the line that we never once felt like the trip was anything but a huge success. My son had the experience of a lifetime and we all got to share it with him. It doesn't get any better than that! Through it all, Capt. Mike was fantastic. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to take a fishing charter in or around Naples. He was great with my kids, teaching them how to fish as well as teaching them about the fish and local wildlife. He obviously knows the water around Naples like the back of his hand, and will do his very best to make sure you have a memorable experience. Fish with Capt. Mike... you won't regret it! I have been fishing on 3 continents for hundreds of species of fish and have never had an experience like i had with Captain Mike. 2 grouper over 200 lbs and 2 shark over 6 feet in the first 2 hours on day one followed by a afternoon of grouper and snapper action for dinner. Captain Mike hooked us up with local diner to cook our catch which was excellent. Day two was even better with more grouper and we finished the last couple hours of the trip fighting and landing a 13 foot Tiger Shark!!!.. What a way to end a trip!!!!. We decided to take spring break near Naples Florida this year. While there I wanted to take my family fishing on a 1/2 day fishing charter. I found Ms. B. Haven Fishing & Eco Charters on Trip Adviser. They were ranked number 1, so I immediately called and made a reservation. We arrived that morning and Captain Hunter was there waiting and ready to go. After heading nearly out of the bay, we moved in close to some key structures that Captain Hunter had fished since he was a child. The action started immediately with the first cast. My 13 year old daughter hooked a jack followed up by the next cast with my son landing a snook. We enjoyed this type of action for the next 30 - 40 minutes or so and then headed out of the bay into the ocean. Again Captain Hunter knew where to go. The tide was going out and the wind was prevailing in a different direction than the tide (tricky conditions). Captain Hunter was able to expertly anchor the boat in such a way to put us right on "the spot". We started landing a wide variety of fish - perch, sheepshead, snapper, blue runners, and others that I had not seen before. He also casted some lines out for shark while we were catching these and other varieties. During this time, my son hooked on to something big (we think it was a grouper). We fought if for about a 90 seconds as it continued to go "out to sea" and unfortunately came unhooked. Captain Hunter was about to pull up the anchor and give pursuit before it came unhooked. Although disappointed to not land the fish, it was thrilling to see my son work to handle something on the other end of the line that was so big. Captain Hunter did a very nice job of keeping three lines baited while watching the shark lines. He wasted no motion as he kept the action going for everyone. The fish bit continuously. We were enjoying it very much AND THEN... the drag began to go out on one of the shark lines. Captain Hunter picked up the pole and set the hook and then handed the pole to my son. He knew it was a decent fish right away and asked that we all reel in our lines while he pulled the anchor and we gave chase to the fish. My son handed to pole to me after about 7 minutes as he was worn out. We chased and fought the fish for about 50 minutes total with Captain Hunter maneuvering the boat optimally and coaching me the whole way. We finally got the fish to the boat and it was a big tiger shark! We estimated that it was approximately 10' long and about 200 lbs. WOW!!! What an experience! I have fished inland (fresh water) my whole life and I've only ocean fished a few times. Without a doubt, this was the most exciting fishing trip I have ever experienced. Captain Mike gave us a great experience. After speaking wih him the night before, he customized a trip that was exactly what we were looking for. Two adult and two boys. . .11 and 15, fishing wasn't the primary goal. We saw dolphins up close, bald eagles, found awesome shells on a secluded beach and guess what? The fishing was phenomenal! Mike knew where to go to ensure that we were all successful. . .I only caught one, but the wife and kids made up for it! The sunrise on the way out was spectacular. . . .don't miss out on that!
