The food, the service, the ambience? Wow!! We are visiting the area and were longing for something…read morelocal and authentic. We ended up at the Salty Siren for two reasons, one, it was recommended by one of the guides at the Henricus Historical Park as being near the Farrar's Island historical marker (ancestors) and it was on the river. The view was gorgeous. We were promptly seated at an outdoor table overlooking the water. Our server, Jodi H., greeted us with a smile and offered to get our drinks and our calamari appetizer. It was excellent. Light, crispy, fresh with a few fried jalapeños for zing. The dip served with them was really good. I ordered fried oysters, which came with authentic hush puppies (which for this southerner means no sugar!) and I ordered the vegetable of the day (steamed broccoli) to sort of make up for the "fried". My husband ordered the grilled salmon. His salad was huge and the vegetables were so fresh that I filched some of his cucumbers. His salmon was amazing. It was perfectly cooked and it was so moist and tender. We will try to return if we are ever travelling this way again. Try The Salty Siren. Even if you don't go looking for the mile maker afterwards.

What a great place to get a great view of the river at sunset in a wonderful open air restaurant…read more The restaurant is shaped like a giant yurt with giant windows that open to the beautiful deck and water. Crab cake sandwich, fresh oysters and cheesesteak were our choices and were definitely good choices. The service could not have been better. Prompt service and cheerful smiles. We will definitely be back. Thank you Salty Siren.

Decided to stop here while we were riding the motorcycles on a beautiful day. The experience…read morestarted off annoyingly but got much better. The host told us there was a 20 minute wait which was fine, but we ended up waiting for 45 minutes. I'd rather a host tell me it's an hour wait and call my name after 45 minutes rather than tell me the wait is short and make me wait that long. Other than that the service was great and the food was very good once we were finally seated.

The waterfront location is really the only thing that sets this restaurant apart. The view…read moredefinitely adds to the experience, but it feels like the restaurant relies too heavily on it and lets too many other aspects fall short. Parking is very limited, and the wait system is practically nonexistent. For a restaurant that regularly has long waits and doesn't accept reservations, I expected a much better process. The host staff was short and unfriendly with our party of four and couldn't even provide a rough wait time. Service throughout the meal was slow. My water glass had lipstick stains around the rim, which was pretty off-putting. My father ordered a beer that didn't arrive until after our food, and by then we had honestly forgotten he had ordered it. We also weren't given appetizer plates before our appetizer was brought out. We ended up getting up and finding plates ourselves. The food was fine, but nothing memorable. Considering the prices, I expected much better quality. It honestly wasn't any better than what you'd get at a casual fish and chips restaurant. The waterfront view is beautiful, but it wasn't enough to make up for the service, cleanliness, and overall dining experience. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
