I love skiing here with my family. They have an elevator for people with mobility issues to get downstairs. They have an adaptive ski program here and the volunteers are great. They have a nice bar and separate restaurant where you can have a drink and watch people ski. read more

Mt Brighton is such a fun place to snowboard. I went yesterday with a friend from out town who had never snowboarded before. It wasnt super busy which was great for a first timer. I have an epic pass and was able to get them a discount on their pass. The staff are all friendly. The runs are nice and groomed. The restaurant was open but the face was and the bar so that was cool. If you are a first timer, try booking a lesson. It's a great place for adult or family fun. read more

If you live in Southeast Michigan, this is the best place to ski and has improved a lot since Epic purchased them. Great variety of easy and hard hills, perfectly groomed. Total scam 12/29/25: Tried to purchase their collage night ski ticket, added it along with rental to my cart, under my account, put in my infos, boom, "this is not available at this age." Guess what, there is no any indication or words on the website saying there's age limit on this ticket. I called, and was on hold for centuries before I finally gave up and decided to call back again. I called back again, and again was on hold for centuries, so I hang up and decided to call back again. The next day, I called, after on hold again, for another centry, someone finally pick up the phone. I asked my question, he didn't know a thing about it, but he confirmed that there's no age limit on this ticket, so he escalated to the higher up, and said they would call back again. They called back, and the person confirmed there is no age limit on this ticket. Now, here are the reasons he gave to answer why I couldn't purchase the ticket online: 1. This ticket is only available on certain days. Of course i know? How the heck else could I put it in my cart? I am looking at this certain date right now? 2. We can't verify your student status, so you'll need to go to the window. Then why do you have this available for purchase online? And why if I change my birthday, I can go on to the next page smoothly? 3. Even if you put in a different birthday, the website will not let you continue with payments and stuff. Not true, I tried, and had no problem kept going. 4. I'm sorry, since it's not taking it, you will need to go to the window to purchase it. Hell no, the window price is more than double the online price, and since there was a Limited number, I'm not driving and hour to the window, then find out it's sold out, then drive back. Now they said they were going up to the higher management again and see what's going on, fine, go ahead. First time coming up here a few weeks ago and I had a pretty good time. Took group snowboarding lessons on a Saturday. I came during the end of the season so parking was easy to find, not too crowded, everything was easy to locate, and the employees were super helpful from getting my tickets and even putting on my boots. The instructors were very nice and gave very good directions. I was beyond happy that I was able to reach my goal by the time the lesson was over. I'm looking forward to the next season and hitting the slopes again. read more

Pathetic and expensive. The place is twice as expensive as all the other local ski resorts yet does not offer anything extra. The individual people working there are great, but the company policies force them into horrendous customer service. Try buying a ticket on site and find out. First you will sit outside waiting for the windows to open and they never do, once you walk in you find out they do not use them, you are supposed to go inside. Once you do, you are told you can not buy a ticket there unless you want a discount which case you have to do it online. Ok, kind of dumb and inconvenient but ok, so you try to buy one on your phone only to find out they do not give out the password so you can connect and buy a ticket. At this point you start to wonder if they want you as a customer at all. Once you've had enough of the hassle and inform the ticket lady you just want to buy a ticket regardless of the price, she now reveals that she can give you the discount at the counter AFTER ALL. But its not over yet, once she tries to do it, a simple transaction is held up forever because her computer is not friendly to the process. Who the hell is running this place? Finally you are in, you wasted so much time you can no longer catch the corduroy snow, decide to go to the bathroom beforehand to find out, it smells (unlike Holly or Pine Knob) they do not have towels just air dry. And by the way, they do not have two new 4 pack 7-million-dollar speed chairs like Holly at half the lift ticket price. What in the world? Seriously, who is even evaluating this place. Oh, if you manage to wait long enough to get a chat agent, they are obnoxious, arrogant and will give you no information regarding anything. Truly a waste of time. Perfect starting point for people who are first time skiing or snowboarding. Also good for people who need to refresh their skills. Compared to other mountains I've been to in New Hampshire and North Carolina, Mt. Brighton is more mild and a lot less of a steep vertical drop. There's several trails ranging from green to blue and a couple black diamonds. However, I've noticed that even a black diamond here is equivalent to a green, maybe blue, at some of the bigger, more serious ski resorts. The elevation at Brighton is low. The rental equipment is pretty new. The skis and helmet are in good shape. The staff is super friendly. We went on a Saturday morning in March right after a night of snow so there was nice fresh powder on the ground. Since it was late in the season, there weren't a lot of people on the mountain which was perfect for me. Less hazard and chance of running someone over. The bunny slope was a bit hard to get down cause it's so flat and the snow was so thick. There's a rope tow up the blue trails in the middle. Efficient but it goes so fast! I preferred the lifts. Everything was well ran and well kept. Family friendly place. If you're looking for an extreme sports mountain, maybe not Brighton. But if you're looking for a beginners hill, definitely visit here! read more

If you absolutely HAVE to ski in the Detroit area, Mt. Brighton is one of the four active ski areas that are within an hour of the metro Detroit area. Just like the other three ski areas, Mt. Brighton was a former gravel pit (not a garbage dump as per popular opinion) that was converted to a ski area. If you're looking for a true 'mountain' experience... this isn't it. However, it does provide a fun winter retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city life. Mt. Brighton is actually two hills. From the parking lot looking towards the hills, the bump on the right is geared more toward beginners and intermediates while the bump on the left is more for the advanced skiers. There are seven total chairlifts that serve the ski area. Each chairlift is color coded per their trail map. The red and black triple person chairlifts serve the beginner/intermediate slopes on the main slope of the right bump. These are always the first lifts to open for the season, so it's a safe bet that these lifts will always be running whenever the ski area is open for business. The base lodge is your typical midwest day area setup (don't expect Aspen or Chamonix). There is a cafeteria-style restaurant for the masses with moderately priced food of lower quality. There is also a 'lounge' that serves guests over the age of 21 (under 21 welcomed when accompanied by a parent/guardian) which can be a relief on high school or middle school ski nights. The food is MUCH better in the lounge compared to the cafeteria. Surprisingly, weekend crowds aren't that bad. This area serves local skiers during the work week. Most people making weekend ski trips forgo the local hills and head further north. Be careful when skiing on Thursday or Friday nights as these are generally when the local schools have their weekly ski outings. read more

Brighton's decision to close early for the season and NOT HONOR MY LIFT TICKET ALREADY PURCHASED. No warning before we got there or as we bought out lift tickets. Not a requirement at any other business I've been in in Michigan as of yet. Hmm, where to begin.. Let me just start out by saying that I grew up skiing and boarding at very large mountains in New Hampshire. Mt. Brighton is a hill and it takes me anywhere from 15 seconds to 45 seconds to board from the top of the slope to the bottom. I'm not going to lie, I do go there often because it is close and I have such a deep desiree to go boarding all of the time. Pros: -It's one of very few places to go skiing/boarding in SE Michigan that is close to the Detroit area. -They upgraded to a sweet new RFID ticket system that can be scanned through all of your gear. -If you purchase tickets online, you get $5 off your first visit and $15 off return visits. -Once you have your card from the first time you go, you can keep reloading that card online so you don't have to wait in line for tickets. SWEET! -Their terrain park is probably the best part of the hill. -If you get a tune-up from the board shop, they really know what they're doing and won't mess up your stuff. -Two lodges. 1 is fancy and very hot inside while the other is bright and open and cool. While there's so much good stuff to say about Mt. Brighton, most of this stuff really has nothing to do with actually being out on the slopes. Cons: -the trails are straight as a pin, from top to bottom (with the exception of one). -takes two seconds to get to the bottom -half of the people who work here apparently don't know how to hold the chair so it doesn't smash into you when you're getting on the lift -there's only a handful of trees on the hill -it gets super windy because the only land all around Mt Brighton is basically flat and there's nothing really on the slopes to block the wind -they don't give vouchers for a different day when you're not pleased with conditions even though your ticket is already paid for and you've only taken two runs (they can tell how long you've been skiing for so it should be no problem) Conclusively, after all that, Brighton just gets super super boring, very fast. ** Just a side note: I just went to holly mountain for the first time, after I started writing this review & thought to myself "OH MY GOD! Why in the world have I been going to Brighton this whole time?!?! Mt. Holly is a million times better on so many levels & it's worth the farther drive and more expensive price, for sure!!" Save yourself a trip to Brighton and go to Holly instead! Holly mountain may be just "okay" compared to the places I'm used to skiing at but it definitely beats Brighton by a long run! read more

Up for the holidays from out of state and booked kids (10,13 and 14) at ski school for the day (10am-3pm). Kids had an amazing time and now hooked on the sport. Staff patient, kind and fun! Grill reasonably priced, great food and strong drinks. Here were the pros, a few shout outs and suggestions: The day before we found out it would rain on our scheduled day. Called and found out policy that we had to send an email. Emailed around 3pm the day before. The manager responded almost immediately (learned through subsequent emails he was off site but continued to respond to us). Gave us options. Ultimately we kept our date since the other dates were booked up. Day of lesson they walked us through the process. Staff helped kids but let them "do" it (ex sat watching patiently as kids laced us snowboarding boots but tightened and checked at the end). Kids loved instructors and cup of hot chocolate at end of lesson. Edward (kids ski group) was wonderful (fun and really nice). It rained and kids soaking wet. I went to check the shop and Deanna helped me find gloves that would work for them. We hung out at the Grill for the five hours. Great view of the slopes so we could get pictures of kids. Really good food. Apple flatbread was amazing. Reasonable prices, good size portions. Julie took great care of us checking in often. Nice ambiance with large fire pit. My oldest son fell and hit his head hard towards the end of the day. Instructor addressed it immediately, I was concerned and asked for first aid. Ski patrol came to us, checked him out and gave us next step instructions. Impressed with their knowledge and concern. Suggestions: really bad 80's music (maybe update). Parents splurge for ski pants even for one day (Target a mile down the rd with large selection of Champion ski pants, water proof gloves and puffy jackets). Great place for kids lessons. The tracks are small but very fun and allow great maneuvering for all mountain style. In addition, they have great park for advanced rider. I read people here not satisfied with small things. Let's make long story short this site is the best urban site I saw. it gives you example of sky resort. We are season pass holders. Have been for several years now. This year they require vaccination cards to enter. Fine. We complied. (Not happily!) absolutely absurd. Tonight my son went with our schools ski club, he's 12. They don't take cash for food or drinks! No water fountains. Only water bottles for purchase and won't take his cash! He's been there for hours. The kid is so thirsty and can't get a drink of water. This is Beyond my comprehension. I am so angry. If we weren't pass holders I would never go back. read more

Great ski school, nice lodge with a variety of good food including comfort food as well as healthy choices, friendly staff that give great service (I've never had a bad experience there), great beginning and intermediate areas to learn and even runs that can be challenging for advanced skiers (when enough snow that everything is open). This is a beautiful hill to experience, however, you now need proof of "vaccination" to enjoy all the amenities it has to offer at the time. I hadn't been skiing in about 14 years, until last weekend. If you're going to die, it might as well be in the snow, surrounded by friends... Ok, it wasn't that dramatic and I even managed to graduate to the real hills and not snowplow the whole way down. Not bad considering I'm too cheap to get a refresher lesson, and I also really have a deathwish. This place has smaller hills, and is good for beginners. It was a great place for boyfriend to try snowboarding for the first time. It was also a good place for me to not end up on my butt too many times. We spent a Saturday afternoon on the slopes, snacking in the cafeteria on the insanely cheap snacks, getting destroyed by the Aerosmith video game, and avoiding the obstacle courses of snowboarders strewn about the slopes in various patches. I only wiped out at the end and got ice road rash on my back a little. At least I didn't tear my robot shirt. Also there was a sled competition the day we went, and let me just say, watching two guys pump iron on a home weight machine while sliding down a snow hill is something everyone should witness. read more

When you have to build a hill to ride on, you know you've got problems. After a few days telemark skiing at Mt Brighton back in the day, I watched an early-90s ski flick called _Aspen Extreme_ and had some overwhelming déjà vu --- the opening scenes of the ski-poor Midwest and rusted chairlifts are indeed filmed in Brighton. Since I started at Brighton, I've changed my small-hill mode from tele skiing to snowboarding; that makes me fit in better, but doesn't really improve the overall experience. Over the same time span, the Vail conglomerate has purchased and "upgraded" the area --- I saw some improvements (a new lift or two), but nothing game-changing, or even qualitatively significant. It's still windy. There still aren't any trees. It's still straight runs without any flow --- even the parks are set up linearly. It's gotten significantly more expensive, and only slightly bigger. There's a fancy RFID ticket system (which is slick), but the line to get set up is still surprisingly long and slow-moving. You don't get much benefit until the second visit --- and then, only if you've signed up for automatic credit card billing and don't rent gear. If you need a snowboard for the day, you're back in line. I'll go once a season for the contrast and the Hollywood connection, but most days I'd rather drive further to Mt Holly, which has some winding trails, some interesting terrain, and some pleasant foliage. read more

I ski here all the time, but I am inspired to write this review today because of the great interactions I had with staff today. I lost my wallet. I knew I lost it there because I used it at the Ore Creek bar. Every person I talked to told me that the found items get turned into Guest Services at the end of the night. It was comforting to know that everyone was trained the same way. Everyone was sympathetic and professional. After I re-traced all my steps through the lodge, I decided to go back to the lifts. I asked the first lift operator I came to and he was absolutely excited to tell me yes, he had found my wallet!! Thank you BJ on lift #3!!! You made my day and I will not forget it. Thanks to Mt.Brighton for training the staff to deal with these types of situations. It's nice to take my entertainment and recreation dollars to a facility with well trained staff. read more

I had my first lesson at Mt. Brighton today and while it's a small, local, gravel pit slope (yay, flat Midwest), it was great. After scheduling and then rescheduling a two hour private lesson (I ended up getting sick) I drove over today excited to make some progress in my skiing. There was no wait outside and it was easy to get my exchange student set up with rentals and a lift ticket. I paid for my rental and lift ticket before going in to speak with the ski school rep. I paid and was directed to the rental area where I quickly got my boots, skis and poles. The whole process is seamless. The staff was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. My instructor and I met outdoors. George asked me about my experience and what I could do and then taught me how to use the rope tow. Blech. But it's better than walking up. We did some stuff midway up the bunny slope before going all the way up. The instructional area was well-maintained, policed and clear. After practicing turns and stopping George and I headed to the chair lift of doom. This is where Mt. Brighton loses a star. Especially for someone who's never ridden a chair lift wearing skis (only to look at foliage) it was terrifying to not have a safety bar. I think George could see my panic and he kept me chatting. After gracefully falling off the chair lift and scooting out of the way my panic hit full tilt when I realized that if I got lazy and just let myself go down in my usual fashion, I was probably going to go about 60 mph and die. George and I went across (or acrossed as Michiganders say) the mountain, practicing turns, slowing down and stopping. Despite being afraid this was way better than the bunny slope because I could keep practicing without having to keep getting back on that God forsaken rope tow. While I have a long way to go before I feel like a real skier, I'm looking forward to my next lesson (no bunny slope!) and conquering the chairlift. read more

A vail employee directed us to the shorter line that was served by one of the four windows (yup, only 1) 4. At the windy the clerk said we were in wrong line to join loyalty program (I threw a mini fit and she let us join) 5. The same clerk said we couldn't buy our snowboarding lesson here and had to go to ski school (but once at ski school they said they don't sell tickets and we should have bought at ticket counter (mini fit number 2) 6. Mini fit 3 came when when she said we were to late for lessons after she learned she could sell us a ticket for lessons. What no online sales? That could fix the line issue to some extent. Still manual rental process even after we registered for loyalty program (you would think they could capture this in a "profile" So to sum it up, in line before 12 noon for 1 to 4 snowboarding lesson, started lesson at 130..grrrr read more

I am 28 and just learning to ski. Mt. Brighton had an excellent bunny hill for me and even though the hill was VERY busy, it was easy to get up and down the hill. I was even able to try my first chairlift by the end of the day! I have only one complaint. There is a hill which was less steep than the hill I eventually did try, it is right behind the ski rental door. It's a great hill for beginner skiers but the rope tow is killer. People were constantly falling and beginners were unable to try a great beginner hill because the rope tow was too challenging. read more

You're not going to find anything very steep in SE lower Michigan, but that's not a problem for me. I can practice technical turns to my heart's content better on the flatter terrain, anyway. You'll see ski teams there after school lets out. They set up gates on the steepest part, and they're fun to watch. The cafeteria is ... well, it's fuel to keep you going. That's all. The night skiing is my fave. I've never had to wait very long to get back on the chair lift and try it again. Most of the time I'd slowly slide to the lift line, and keep sliding up to the chair. One run after another, until we got sleepy and had to head home. My schedule forces me to be even earlier to bed and to rise than before, so I miss the night skiing after work. The snow is usually smushed flat and shiny with ice, so you'll learn to carve like an Olympian. read more

We had a wedding scheduled there and they cancelled It out of the blue 53 days before. Their event coordinator had horrible communication skills throughout the whole planning process. I was accepting because we are dealing with covid, but if the state of MI says we can have our wedding- why would Mt. Brighton cancel it?
