Fresh Powder, taken February 2019 up on the Mountain; still today almost June powder still here!
    Susan R.

Adventure is calling! Happy is doing something outdoors with some fun in the sunshine and nature all around! Is this a car commercial; no it's time to put down the cell phone down, grab those special to you and get away from the light and sin of Vegas. Loving Vegas for almost fifteen years, in all that time it's the first time here. We have rolled through on the bike a time here and there; as the lights of the day pass through your eyes it's not the same as stopping. Don't wait get out and write those pages! This was pure joy and happy. As I stand back and watch the dogs and Pat play it warms me. It's cold here, so layer so that your not cold. The dogs run and play with one another. They could just keep going, so could he. The snow is still packed in the ground so it's a nice chance to sled down a little "hill." If your expecting lots of snow, remember it's Vegas and snow is a rare weekend type of adventure so get here before it melts for the year. As you enjoy the outdoors please pick up after yourself. Don't leave your trash! Don't leave your mask on the ground! In fact, leave the mask behind because it's not necessary in the outdoors. Take off that mask regardless of vaccine status and get some much needed fresh air. Its adventure time right, as we play and park on the side of the road we enjoy the fun and beauty around us! The one issue that bothers us is the trash all around. Here's a mask, over there one would expect beer bottles; but a vast array of food and plastic bottles littered around. Please take your trash so that we leave the outdoors as you found it. Leave the mask behind and breathe in that "fresh mountain air!" It's always better than rebreathing your own air. Play well and enjoy life one moment always; but observe those socially expected things. You know; "Man, please don't trash the place. Hey man, let's go and celebrate! Yeah!" The drive up here is glorious, as one loving sin city, we get older and that flair of the lights of the strip is just "noise, noise, noise!" It's nice to know that up about 7,000 feet is Mt. Charleston. It's a smooth ride up to the mountain in under an hour. Layer here since the weather changes fast. It's cold and then colder. Chains sometimes are needed, if you decide to off road your in the wilderness here. There is no modern connections to a local store. Bring the essentials such as food, snacks, and whatever you need for happy. The views are spectacular, so why aren't you planning that get away. Time is fleeting! The snow is melting away for the year. Happy is in adventures, it's the in between times that we are awaiting. It's these moments that we pulled off the highway to play that "we" remember and help us make it through the times of solitude. Leave the mask behind, breathe that fresh air and let's go. Those pages will not write themselves. Grab the leash, water and those special to you! Happy is here! Be happy in these moments that you will always cherish and celebrate

I took my kids here Christmas morning after wanting to give them an experience instead of just gifts, and we had the best time. The location we visited was called Upper Lee Meadows and it was an incredible spot for sledding with kids of any age. Depending on how far you hike up the slopes you can have a more intense sledding experience or a very mild one. If you visit the area I advise that you arrive early as possible on weekends as you will be turned away if parking capacity is reached. We arrived about 7am and by the time we left at 11:30 am, cars were being turned away. There is a wooded area immediately to the left of the mountain which had very soft snow so my kids made snow balls and were able to throw snow around. In that same area we found multiple snow men that had been made by previous visitors which gave us great photo ops.

Being a California native, it's so awesome to see how close this is to the city! Less than an hour away for such beautiful sights. My boyfriend and I love to go camping on the weekends to escape the heat and civilization - tent, fire, smores and all. We tried to reach Angel Peak nearby which has a dome-shaped building. But hit a roadblock when we found out it Spring Mountains Youth Camp is a juvenile detention center and it's private property. Yikes! It's so short of a drive that it's worth coming for a picnic during the day.

After spending a few days on the Las Vegas strip, my uncle wanted to know if I'd like to take a drive up to the mountain and play in the snow. Ummmmmmmmmmm? YEAH!!!!! It's absolutely so peaceful. It's clean. We saw wild horses twice. That took my breath away. Thank you Mother Nature

Comet, Cupid,Bashful, and Dancer. Sneezy,Doc, Mark, and Prancer. Matthew, Luke, and James too. Some of the most familiar names we all knew. Sometimes they come in groups of Seven or Four. Most times they come together in twelve or more. They act as shadows and you may ask why. Because the job of a reindeer, is to teach the chosen to fly. Geese A Laying. Lords A Leaping. On the seventh day my true love gave to me. Swans A Swimming. A gift of Life. A few Versus in a Pine Tree. With mountain tops filled with snow. Halos everywhere that begin to Glow. You may call them 12 Reindeers or A Single Dove. But I remember the most famous name of all called Love. And do not forget the greatest gift of All It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas if you might recall

Beautiful views of the Spring Mountain range. Waiting for the new lodge to open. It's a nice getaway from the city. Not too far to travel.

From day one, we were welcomed like family. The daycare is always clean and well cared for, and the teachers, directors, and administrative staff truly go above and beyond. Everyone knows us by name, greets us warmly, and is consistently helpful and supportive. What truly sets them apart is the communication and partnership with families. They always take the time to talk through any concerns and make sure we're all on the same page both at home and at school. The engagement they have with both the families and the students is beyond words. My son has learned and grown so much at Kiddie Academy. The teachers are all wonderful at guiding children through important (and sometimes challenging) developmental milestones with patience, care, and genuine expertise. It's clear how much they truly care about each child's growth and well-being. We are so grateful to be part of this community and recommend Kiddie Academy to everyone we know without hesitation. One of my favorite places to hike in Las Vegas is Tule Springs. This used to be a state park but…read morewas tunred over to the City of Las Vegas when the state budget didn't have enough to cover operations. Since then, it has been a city park. There is an admission to Floyd Lamb of $6 per car. To avoid the charge and to do the loop, you park on Racel Street. There are entrances on Racel to access the South Loop Trail. The loop is actually a large retention basin for flash flood water. It is a 1.7 mile loop on a dirt track around this basin. There are wonderful views of the Las Vegas Range and you can see the Metro antennae on Gass Peak if you know where to look. Coming back to Racel, you see the Spring Mountains to the west. The views of these two mountain ranges is outsanding! The mountains offer the marvelous scenery, but don't miss the desert plants that have been added to beautify the area. Creosote bushes, desert marigold, mesquite trees, and other desert plants make the trail something to enjoy by looking at both the mountains and toward the ground. Roadrunners like this type of dry area and I've seen one hiking the loop. If you look at the center of the basin, you'll see an island. There are two trails--from the north and south--leading to this area where you can have a picnic in one of the covered areas. When I hike here, I leave the loop near the historic area of Tule Springs. If you do the loop and have time, take the side spur to the historic resort from the 1940s on, starting as a resort specializing in 6 week Nevada residencies for people wanting a quick divorce. Enjoy the springs, the animals, and the plentiful trees before returning to the loop and back to your car along Racel. There is a North Loop that I haven't done yet. Since it's cool weather again, I have some time to do it. From Neon to Nature. Go out and take a hike and enjoy our city away from the neon.

Great loop of a trail that demonstrates desert landscaping. Also perfect for walking your dog.read more
