They are awful SCAMMERS!! Had a "service power steering" light on. My steering got hard and made it difficult to turn. Went on YouTube to see what it could be. Many videos suggested that many times the issue can be solved by resetting the code with a scanner. I took it to this mt. Greenwood shop cause I couldn't do it myself. They told me I needed a rack and pinion and pump and it was gonna cost $2000. I told them not to work on it and paid them the $180 for the diagnosis.. it turns out it really only needed a code reset. Do not let this place touch anything electric on your vehicle. They will so call fix one thing only to break something else and then take no fault by saying it was an existing condition. This place is not trustworthy. I took my car in for an engine light. They said I needed 4 or 5 parts and would cost well over a $1300. They were just throwing parts on it and hoping it would fix the problem. I declined the work. I took it elsewhere and was told it was the temp sensor and would cost about $200. The kicker is, Mt Greenwood Auto told me they replaced the temp sensor when my vehicle was there in March of this year. After the temp sensor was replaced, the temp gauge never worked again. I took it back twice and they told me each time it was fixed. Guess what, it wasnt. This new problem I have is all related to the temp sensor they told me they replaced. I recently went back to get my receipt and sure enough, there is no record in their system that I had this replaced. Had several other issues as well with this place. Been going here for years, my information is definitely on file, so was deeply disappointed on 01/14/2023 when quoted $322 for pressure hose replacement. Only to find out the guy at the front desk Brandon did not include the cost of parts and hazmat which should have been part of the quote or so I thought? Was shocked when final total was $378.85 felt like a bait and switch. Also observed when another customer wanted more detail regarding his costs and services customer became frustrated with no straight answers. As I stated been going there for years never had this problem before extremely disappointed. Way overcharged me for a. $8 part, when I said just give me my car back he said that they didn't have the tools someone brought them home and I still had to pay them for there time and they promised my car would be ready that day and it was not. Gabriel and the front desk lady are so rude, they don't care they just price gage everyone. Gabriel could care less, come on no tools at an auto repair shop. Don't go to this place unless you want to be overcharged and having things wrong with your vehicle that you didn't have before bringing it to this place. The drama started September 30th and it's November 4th and my car is not right. The struts have been replaced twice by them when I didn't have any issues with them until going there. They replaced it and it's still bad. They put a hole in my axle boot and tried to blame me when I confronted them. It was all fresh oil from when they did my control arms and brakes and rotators. They didn't repair the sway bar and when I told them, I was told the mechanic is old with bad eyes. They replaced it for free. I went to try to get the wheel alignment and they discovered it. After getting the sway bar done, went for the agingmen again and they discovered that the lug nuts where not put on right and was able to take off with their hands. I have been round and round with the owner and not getting anywhere. He did admit that I was overcharged but not the amount that I figured. They change the invoice around after you pay and added extra charges from what the owner had in his records. Was also charged $511 for brakes and rotators when everywhere else is $340 even their other business they have in Mt Greenwood. Been taking my car to a different mechanic who has been going over my car and invoice telling me what all is wrong. DON'T TRUST MT GREENWOOD AT ALL COST! read more

I entrusted my car to this establishment with their instructions to put the key in an envelope in the key drop. My keys were sealed in the envelope were deposited in the "Key Drop". For added security, they were also tossed to the side specifically to prevent anyone from fishing them out. They landed on the garage floor where I could see the envelope safely inside. The next day, I received a call that keys were no where to be found. Being very distraught, I brought another set of keys to them so the work that was needed could be completed. There was a remote also attached to the key that was last and I have learned a valuable lesson not to deposit the remote in a key drop. But the most valuable lesson I took away was that I should have never deposited anything there to begin with. The "Missing Property" has never been found. Will not be a returning customer here again. Was in town last weekend and my car died in the parking lot of Walgreen's. It was a Saturday, so trying to find an open auto repair shop was going to be fun - not to mention I have a foreign car, so that also added to the challenge of finding a good shop. Saw some great reviews for MTG Auto on Google and decided to give them a call. Spoke with Chris, who manages the Alsip location on 122nd and Cicero. He was polite, informative, and assured me he could look at my car. Had RA tow my car to the shop on Saturday. Monday came and Chris gave me a call letting me know what the problem was. Had my car back before dinner time on Monday evening. Not only do these guys know what they're doing, but their honest mechanics which is really hard to find these days. I took my car there in the afternoon because they said they could look at it and they ended up not getting to it until the next day. It was leaking antifreeze and they changed the thermostat instead of trying to locate the leak. The day after I picked it up, all of the antifreeze in the car leaked out again and the car was running hot. Went there to get my "check engine light" diagnosed and fixed. So, after $600, was fixed and passed the emissions test. 2 days after picking up my car, light went back on. Took it back and they said it registered the same problem so they'll replace if for nothing. Great, right? Well after a few days I noticed that when I start up my car, my engine light doesn't even come on! Took it somewhere else and sure enough, they opened the dash and took out the light bulb. Now, if something is ever wrong with my car, I'll never know. Thanks. I wouldn't bring my tricycle there to get fixed. read more

The experience I had with Mount Greenwood Auto was terrible. This is due to the fact that my transmission was removed by cutting the exhaust pipes. This is a short cut and should not be done. The cut pieces of exhaust were put back and stuck together with an adhesive. The adhesive gave and now there is a gap between the pipes and making noise. When brought to their attention was told that its not causing a problem. Since they destroyed the original design of my exhaust and was never told about it I will never go back there again for any car repair. They did not care and I cannot trust my vehicle with them. read more

My experience at Mt. Greenwood Auto was nothing short of horrific. If you have time and money to spend on law suits then this is the place to go. I was charged for work that was never performed, price gouged and left with a multitude of car problems I never had before I went there. After three failed attempts to repair the problems I went elsewhere. Threatened with a law suit they did offer to repair at their shop at no charge but I declined. All trust was gone at this point. I asked for funds to offset my costs for repairs and was told to take it to court. I did and I did get some compensation to offset my costs. Every fear most of us have about being taken from an auto repair shop was realized. If time was taken to check my vehicle before it left the shop the first time it left, if ithe invoice would have been checked for accuracy and above all a little honesty was given to me a lot of grief could have been avoided. I am giving the experience I had a star only because u cannot post without one. If I could I'd give negative stars. Maybe more time should be spent on fixing vehicles instead of weed sacking the driveway. read more
