This business deserves great recognition because of a mechanic named Gabriel. Gabriel has helped me several times in different situations and he is the only one I'll let look at my car. My daughter bought a car from a dealer and when she drove it off the lot she found out the back suspension wasn't attached to the frame so we brought it back and they told us to pound sand (as is) well Gabriel wrote a nice letter and the dealership started to be really nice to me and refund my money. When you find a mechanic like him you keep him. Just hope this rating doesn't hurt me seeing him if I need service. read more

Ha, this is a joke of a place. It was my first time here so I called to make an appt a few days ago. I showed up today and could not find anywhere to park. Since I'm new to this place, I thought that was the reason, maybe I didn't know where or how to enter the lot. The lot is microscopic, by the way. (Parking stress alert! What are we downtown?) I tried twice and pulled over on another street and called them. "Hi, so I can't enter your lot, am I missing a parking lot? I haven't been here before." Them: "Well, we have two tows today blocking the entrance so we'll have to reschedule you." I said "When were you going to tell me this, it's already 830AM, my appointment time!" Them: "I'm sorry, blah blah blah... How about tomorrow. You can drop it off, it may take 1-3 hours." No thanks! 1-3 hours? I've had tires rotated and balanced in that time. This is a stinkin' oil change! I'm not dropping off my car in your unorganized, unprofessional hands. Also, how could I even bring two cars to drop off one? There's no where to park two cars! Long story short; After failing the emission test (159th St), I noticed a bill board that advertised Mt. Greenwood on 10319 S. Kedzie, outside the testing facility. So I gave them a call and took my vehicle with confidence that they would repair my car so that it could pass the emissions test. According to their advertisement. I paid for the diagnosis and bought the parts to the mechanic as promised, then paid for the labor afterwards. Went to pick up my vehicle, at that moment (Gabriel) stated that the printer was not working, so therefore he could not print anything; all they needed was the info from the invoices which showed that I paid for service to clear the codes etc. This was all they would be looking for. Which was un-true. I Went back to emissions who says that the mechanic should surely know what emission needs in order to re-take the emissions again. which is a letter head stating that the service was completed and the codes are cleared. It was like pulling teeth to get (Gabriel) to understand this. I could discern that this was going to go bad and something was not right here. In the mean time I applied to the state for an extension, which I was granted for (1yr). Seeing that I was not getting anywhere with (Gabriel) at Mt. Greenwood, who clearly displayed no compassion about the matter. I chose to just lived out the year extension rather than go back and forth between Mt. Greenwood/Gabriel and emissions. After the extension had ended I returned to emissions (Oct 2020), who says go back to the mechanic (Mt. Greenwood - Gabriel), and have him to produce the letter head stating XYZ (stated earlier). Gabriel tells me a year later that the printer is still not working so he can not produce the document(s) that emissions needs for me to retake the test until they get a new printer. So I patiently waited several months later after the new printer was finally came in. I went back and Gabriel printed out invoices again and nothing stating that the repairs were completed and most importantly the codes were cleared. Called (Gabriel) back and he says that he don't know what they could want. But he was busy now and could not give my anything, not even in writing to state this if I came right now to pick it up, then (Gabriel) hangs up the phone on me. I was so upset, never displayed hostility, profanity or anger behind all the run arounds that I had to endure. One of the employees at emissions felt sorry for me and allowed me to retake the emissions test and guess what? Just as I had suspected the same codes were still there. I believe that the reason he did not and still have not produced the document of proof expressing clarity regarding the service and codes etc., is because the repair had not been completed, PERIOD. I called back and asked to speak to the owner several time to clear up the matter. Gabriel says that they would have to do another diagnosis. And get this! I would have to pay for the diagnosis again. I says NO that would not be right ... let me speak to the owner. Then (Gabriel) says that he will have him to call me. I called again and again after several weeks of waiting and I'm till waiting on that call! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ... WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T GO TO THIS REPAIR SHOP! read more

These guys are not out to rip you off which is rare for most business in the automotive industry. Even if they are not getting any money out of it they will tell you what you need to do. After my wife's first visit for a flat tire (they could not fix) they suggested we go to a tire place. The charged us $0!!! I've now gone in for an oil change and they just put my windshield wipers on for free (I didn't even ask) during the snowstorm 1/20/2012. Incidentally my wipers were bought at Advance Auto Parts for nearly $40 on Wednesday 1/18/2012-they broke today on friday 1/20/2012. The wipers I got today only cost $20. Really people go here for basic auto service and forget the chains. The chains want your money not your loyalty. read more

In January when we had the week of crazy cold temperature my car's battery decided to die. Before I had my car jumped I was able to look around Mount Greenwood and places close by to see what was the cheapest to have the battery replaced in my car. Despite the cold weather I was able to get the battery changed quickly. I also found out my alternator was dead so I had it replaced. The guys at Mt Greenwood Auto were able to replace both in a couple hours. The fuse to my radio blew when the battery and alternator changed and they fixed the fuse for me for free which was nice. I am glad I found a local place to take my car instead of venturing to my old auto place from when I lived on the northside. I had my oil and filter changed and also tires rotated for around $40. It took about 40 minutes for everything which was nice. If you give them your email address they will send you coupons which can save you some money if you have some bigger repairs that need to be taken care of. read more

I have been going to this shop (103rd and Kedzie) for a number of years now. I am very pleased with their work. Of particular significance is the effort they put into expediting the work on your car. It is very infrequent that my car stays over night. Me having only one car, this is important to me. These guys have now fixed my transmission and my alternator/battery. Each time they were prompt (4 days with the trans, same day on the alternator) and the work was done very well. I'm pleased enough with their work to give them 5 stars, but if I've gotta be completely honest, I feel like they're a wee bit pricey. Both times they worked with me and gave me the best deal they could give, but if I could do it again I would have handled the battery situation differently. (I have an 02 Saturn with 108K miles on it, and we're trying to keep it running for the next 6 months til we can afford a down payment on something newer. So I definitely did NOT need a $140 Interstate battery which will probably last long after the car falls to pieces--I could have done as easily with a $50 AutoZone cheap model, but because they warrant Interstate, I didn't have a choice. I know they're not out to rip me off, but that $140 hits hard.) They're great guys, they do wonderful work, and they do their best to give you a fair price. Having been screwed into the ground by mechanics throughout my entire driving life, it's refreshing to find people who do ONLY the work that's needed and don't try to drain your wallet on things you don't need. Edited 2/24/14: Well. See, here's the thing. I kept having a recurring issue with the car misfiring esp in damp weather. These guys did a tune-up, cleaned my throttle body, gave me a new throttle position sensor. A few weeks later, I had the car towed in by AAA for similar behaviour and they tried to tell me that I needed a tune-up and a throttle-body cleaning, and then when I said "but wait, you did that a month ago" their attitude seemed to change and suddenly they weren't in such a hurry to get to my car. Okay, so I figure Hey, they're busy, things get confused, whatever. BUT. About a week ago, the problem crops up again. I took it elsewhere, just on a hunch; come to find out that the whole problem originated in my valve cover gasket, which was allowing oil to leak into my spark plugs--the ones they'd just replaced! --and causing my ignition wires to deteriorate and misfire. Mt. Greenwood hadn't mentioned the valve-cover gasket, and so it wouldn't have mattered HOW many tune-ups, replacement wires, or new plugs I'd gotten--the problem would have recurred. Now I wonder if the second recurrence of the problem was avoidable. Look, I realize I'm driving a POS, but at the same time, if one problem is going to cause another, it doesn't make sense financially to solve the second problem and not the first. I had to have the ignition wires and plugs replaced AGAIN along with the valve-cover gasket; that's a chunk of $$ I wish I hadn't had to pay twice. They're good guys, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if I'm quite as enthused anymore. read more

Completely destroyed my car. Overcharged me. Didn't pay for my tows, and never gave me back my old performance heads, and my emblems were magically missing on my car (they were stolen). The best part, they CRASHED my car and didn't even tell me! I needed an oil change, They didnt have the right filter so it took like an hour because someone had to go get the part but everyone there was cool, the guy who did my oil change was one cool dude. I'd go back, I trust him to work on my car. I really liked that if he didn't know something he'd say so and not try to BS me or make me buy or do something I don't need. read more

This place stole my performance heads, JOY RIDING MY CAR, crashed it, and had the emblems stolen on it. Awful place, DO NOT BRING ANY PERFORMANCE CAR THERE. They have limited experience, awful customer service, and DAVE especially, will do whatever he can to nickel and dime you. This establishment should not be running. Awful place. Stopped in 3 times to get an oil change I bought on Groupon and they claimed to be out of oil every time and were not helpful at all.
