I want to start by saying I haven't eaten here in years because of their burgers and pizza, which are mediocre at best. Too many really good burgers out there. Today the server was nice and the menu has been updated, so I tried it again. We ordered the corn dogs, large fries with garlic and herbs, and two side salads. The corn dogs were rocking. The fries a little hit and miss, some crispy and others limp, but ok. The salad was fresh and good, but could have used some croutons. I will be back again, for the corn dogs. read more

Gluten free review: we stopped in here to try the gluten-free pizza. They have dairy free cheese. My daughter loved it. We had some fries as well and skip the drinks this time. My pretzel was hard and dry, it was truly one of the worst attempts at a pretzel, along with the atrocious beer cheese attempt they served me. This place is perfect after a session at Stevenson. It can easily accommodate larger parties. We sat outdoors where they welcome your pets with water and dog treats. I was in town for the weeklong paddling festival that is the Gorge Downwind Championships in Skamania. On day 2 I visited Walking Man after googling "wings" and seeing good reviews about theirs. I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the wings so much I came back 4 different times with an ever expanding group of friends. The friends let me try all different kinds including: classic hot, Korean BBQ, Nashville hot, and cherry stout. The Nashville hot were by far my favorite with a good heat on them compared to the others. The cherry stout were the most unique with a touch of earth sweetness. I also tried the veggie pizza which had a great crust and fresh touch of roasted garlic. Oh, and the Cajun fries are worth the upgrade! The best part of the place is how good it was for groups. You order at a window and are given a pager which tells the server what table you're at after you scan the table number. No split checks, no getting short changed via Venmo, no mess. The service was overwhelmed a couple times because there are a TON of people in town for the event but they were kind and apologized the one night it went slow. I'm not quite sure why our pizza experience was the way it was. I look at the pictures and that isn't what we got. We got the margherita. Disgusting. It was soggy and undercooked. In fact you could peel off the layer of undercooked top. It was just unpleasant tasting too. I got the Cuban sandwich. I was massively happy with my meal. Lots of pork and the sauce was really flavorful too. I'd return for the Cuban. My only issue is that the ham was either missing or lost. Gotta have the ham. We ordered the soft pretzel for sharing, and we also split the kale salad and the spicy crispy chicken sandwich. Both were delicious, particularly the spicy crispy chicken sandwich. Went for some dinner last night and could not believe what the considered quality. Fries came out warm and dripping with oil, my wifes mushroom burger was a overcooked hockey puck and my Cuban came mostly untrusted, dripping with whatever the use on the griddle and devoid of meat and no cheese. Food offering is limited, but consists of tasty traditional pub style selections, including pizza. Inside is dark and old looking, but has a warmth like the service staff. We've visited them a few times now and we've enjoyed their food & beers, so I'm upping them a star. They have a good food menu that includes vegetarian and gluten-free options, yay! There's an up-charge for a gluten-free bun or pizza crust, but that's the norm and I'm grateful they have those options available. Plus, they have a really nice patio where one section is covered and there's a nice big shady tree to help beat the heat. And, of course, a nice selection of beers to choose from. I can't speak much to their service as we only are inside the very first visit a few years ago. Since the pandemic we've come back to eat on the patio a couple times and for those visits we had to order at the window. Walking Man makes a Cherry Stout that, alone, is worth the drive from wherever you happen to be. It is occasionally available at bars in Portland, but the atmosphere at the source in Stevenson adds to the experience. On our most recent visit, they had an inspited pairing on the food menu that I don't recall seeing anywhere else: chicken wings with Indian Butter Chicken sauce. Their version of the sauce wasn't my all time favorite, but I'm sure I'll be trying this again on my next visit. My guess is that, like me, a lot of people find themselves here in nice weather, when the siren call of the Gorge is loudest. So, don't be surprised to find a crowd, and a wait for your order to be prepared. Thankfully the outdoor seating is in a beautiful shaded area, so the wait will be pleasant. read more

I like this place ok although it is a bit too yuppified for my taste. So I get it that I am not their target customer so no worries there. You can get a pretty darn good beer and burger here so worth a stop every now and then. Their hours are limited and I am not such a fanboy that I have them memorized so they are not on my "must stop here when in town" list. There used to be a couple of good eateries in town but they are all gone now except the one on SR14 that you have to take out a loan to afford to eat at. So if you're hungry/thirsty this could be one of your better bets. Staff is fine although they got overly carried away with the scamdemic insanity which apparently still lingers on here. No minus stars for that since, as I mentioned, they cater more to gentrified snowflakes passing through than greasy Biker types like myself. The pizza looks like it could be good although I have yet to try it. Burgers are good and a safe choice so that's what I typically go for. The beer is really good. Did I mention that? There are several good brewpubs along SR14 and this is certainly one of them. They are a couple of blocks from the river and one block off the main drag. I dunno how long they've been here. I've been going through Stevenson for many decades and then one day this place just sort of showed up. I usually only take this side street if the paddle wheeler is in town. read more

I was at a conference for my job after the conference was done for the day we went looking for something to eat and what did we find this amazing place! I ordered a burger and fries . Wow what a burger, it was delicious cooked to perfection and so juicy and the fries were just as good . I would highly recommend this establishment if you are even in Stevenson WA. The gentleman taking our order was so nice and friendly and not long after we were there the place started getting packed with people and as far as I could tell looked to be only him and the cook in the back but they definitely were on top of everything. Walking Man Brewing was a recent brewery Steve and I went to when we went to see Multnomah Falls. Walking Man has been on our list for a while and I was excited to finally go here and try some of the beer that they had to offer. I ordered the One Small Step beer which was a very light Session beer with Galaxy, Apollo and Comet hops. It proved to be very refreshing! Steve got the opposite, the One Giant Leap which has the same hops in it but comes in the form of an Imperial IPA. That beer too was very good! The location is quite quaint and the taproom and restaurant(but most importantly the staff) definitely gives off a very welcoming energy. read more

Great place to go to eat and grab a beer (after a long hike)! We stopped by on a Wednesday at 6:30pm (summer). The wait time is 40mins give or take. Eek!! We got our pizza right away due to a return (they didn't want bacon) but we didn't mind the bacon. I saw the waitress do the drop off and saw the whole interaction which is why we said "yes." The food is tasty. And the drink I ordered (which you get as soon as you order at the window), the Jaywalker stout is delicious! They have to-go boxes by the ordering window so you don't have to ask. Not much interaction with staffing, water is self service, and they have cleaning station (bus yourself). The atmosphere is chill with 90s hip hop music. Lots of seating with shade & sunshine. Family and dog friendly. They have drinking bowls for dogs. -1 due to the long wait. Note: they do have misters (water sprinkles features). We saw someone fall down the stairs due to the wet and slippery stairs. It's hot! And the grill is off. Which means no burgers or sandwiches. We understand it's summer. read more
