I don't typically leave negative reviews, but I felt this experience was worth sharing. I purchased the basic wash and vacuum package, and everything seemed fine until I got home and noticed several scratches on my vehicle that were not there beforehand. They aren't severe, and I believe they'll likely buff out, but they were definitely left by the wash and weren't something that could simply be wiped away with a microfiber cloth. I returned to let the staff know, not expecting anything unreasonable, but hoping they would at least acknowledge the issue and look into whether the equipment might need maintenance. Unfortunately, the response was dismissive, and no solution or concern was offered. I have grace for businesses and understand that employees may not always know how to handle situations like this. However, if you operate a car wash, it's your responsibility to maintain equipment that comes into contact with customers' vehicles. Even scratches that can be buffed out shouldn't happen during a routine wash, and the lack of concern was the most disappointing part of the experience :( read more

We have been coming here for years. It is in my opinion one of the best full service car wash facilities in the area. You can get everything from a full professional detail to a quick wash. This place is a joke. I paid for the VIP exterior car wash and they towel dried just the windows. Only two of my tires were shined. They didn't open the doors or trunk to towel dry the water around the edges. Terrible quality and I will never be back. read more

This car wash is my absolute favorite in Mt. Pleasant. They have so many options and memberships to make it easy to keep my car clean. They also include free self service vacuums and you can pay for an interior clean after the exterior wash. They are so quick and efficient. My favorite car wash in town. When I need my car company clean I go with $59 express 3 option a c it's like an interior detail got done! They also have completely restored an old car I inherited with a true detail job ($500 to bring back a smoke and dirt filled nightmare- worth every penny as I couldn't have used the car otherwise). Personally, since this place transitioned from Americana to Mt. Pleasant Wash & Wax, it hasn't been the same. Perhaps that is a weird bias related to my childhood and memories of sitting inside with my mom or chilling on the back porch with friends in high school. Or maybe I should factor in my sparse attendance since the new ownership as well as the hurdles likely being faced given the ongoing pandemic. Who knows. Either way, I came the other day for an outside-only car wash. I selected the most expensive option, nearing $30, as I had just driven behind a salt truck on the interstate and wanted to make sure everything was cleaned to prevent rust. When I pulled up in the line, I asked the employee what the difference was between the top tier choice and the second one from the top. He said the top one "just has more chemicals." I went for it anyway, but as I was pulling away, I thought that was strange and also not a very good selling point. With the tier I chose, I was forced into a hand-dry upon exiting the drive-thru wash. I really didn't like this, as I found it awkward sitting in my car peering out while some older ladies were using small towels to clean my vehicle. I then had to scrounge around my car to find additional tip money. I was very lucky to find a $5 bill scrunched up in my center console, but given that I intended on only getting an outside car wash through the automated service (and no direct personal contact through an interior detail or something), I did not come prepared with cash on hand for a tip. I would have been mortified and felt exceptionally guilty if I was not able to find any dollars for these hardworking employees! Finally, I have since noticed that I've been having some difficulty seeing outside of my windshield in the rain following my attendance here. There are small streaks all across that I would prefer not be there. I wouldn't use this as a reason to never return, but I do know that next time I need just a simple drive-thru car wash, I will probably opt to drive a little further to Liquid Highway or elsewhere to have better service at a comparable, or cheaper, price. I will try Mt. Pleasant Wash & Wax in the future for an interior service or for the cheapest tier outside-only wash option. read more

I've been going here for about three years but for the past 6 months this place has gone totally downhill. I pay $60+ for a car wash and vacuum and they don't provide an adequate clean at all. They do it with half effort and it's NOT worth the money- my car is still dirty when I leave. read more

***Update as the owner's response contains false information. First, the owner blamed the website developer, rather than taking ownership and apologizing for not doing his job and making sure the website he paid for was done properly. Second, blaming the customer for believing the prices advertised on the website is bad business. I looked on the site and called to make an appointment; I wasn't going to drive there and study a sign in order to make an appointment for a future date. No one offered to do anything for $59.99, and at no point did I "insist" on the job being done for $20. I pointed out that the website said it was $20; they told me it would be $120 and would not budge. Kirk also never offered to do "just the seat" (he never even saw the seat since I hadn't yet taken the cover off of the seat). The amount of mental gymnastics this business owner has done to put blame on everyone but the business is astounding. "No one else has ever complained" doesn't mean that Kirk hasn't attempted to bully another customer, as he attempted with me. It only means the other customers didn't do anything about it. If this business had said "Oh, wow, we need to get the website updated - sorry for the trouble but let's split the cost down the middle" I would have been happy with that. Instead, they point the finger at everyone but themselves, including blaming the customer for believing the price printed on their website.*** Super negative experience here this morning. Had booked a car detail over the phone since the website advertised "deep textile clean" for $20, but when I showed up they told me it would be $120 due to the size of my car. I pulled up their website to show where it says $20 and they told me I was misreading it. It's literally printed like a menu. They said I should have filled out the (nonexistent) online form for a quote and had no good answer when I asked why I would get a quote for something that is clearly listed with a price next to it. The manager Kirk was insulting, condescending, and flat-out rude. I asked to cancel my monthly recurring membership and he first told me he would cancel it for me no problem, but didn't ask my name/number/membership info. I asked for proof that it was cancelled and he got angry with me, telling me cancellation requests have to be writing according to the contract (which he initially refused to give me a copy of). Lo and behold the contract says the membership needs to be cancelled at the place of purchase and doesn't require it to be in writing. Anyway. Just a huge dumpster fire of a negative customer experience. Rather than acknowledging that the website should specify that the prices may vary, depend on vehicle size and condition, and must be purchased with other services, Kirk insulted my intelligence and said I didn't understand what I was reading. He also contradicted himself a number of times and raised his voice, which is unacceptable at any time. No bueno. Stay away from this place. read more

Nice newer convertible - this wash fits best an old beater to be honest. A lot of fancy colored lights as you go through and takes about 120sec but the output is less than ideal to say the least. They do a great job- but for a large SUV inside and out- you're looking at about $60 for a cleaning. I was happy with the results- but I found it to be very expensive. 10/23 update following owners comments. The entire service took about 15 mins. They did have two people working on the vehicle after it came out of the car wash machine. It wasn't a detailing job. read more

I specifically asked the attendant if there was an air conditioned place to wait because I had a bag of groceries with dairy products that could not get warm when deciding whether to get the interior service. He replied "yes, we have a lobby with couches." Immediately upon walking I was hit with a wall of hot musty air. The air conditioner was clearly broken. After sweating inside for about 5 minutes, I went outside and actually realized it was cooler in the 90 degree weather! My groceries are quite warm to say the least. Either South Carolinians are incredibly meticulous about their cars or people are being super picky about this place. Just driving down Hwy 17 I passed about 112 car washes. The much ballyhood'd Cactus Car Wash refused to wash my car because it has a state of the art bolted and locked on roof rack. They were nice about it, but I left with the same filthy car I drove in. Back to Yelp I went, which was oddly unhelpful on this topic. Meanwhile the car that drove across the country and still had Los Angeles bagel bits and dog hair under the seats was getting dirtier and dirtier, with a new twist - tree sap falling on my car in the driveway where I park. On a lark, I spotted this place and headed in. I spoke to Phil who took a good look at the car and was like, "I gotta be honest, this car needs more help than we can do with the quick wash, you won't be happy." He was being genuine, and he was totally right. So I bit the bullet, left the car off the next morning and picked it up several hours later. My hand to God, the car looks like it just left the factory. It wasn't cheap but it was worth every freaking penny and I will totally be back. As for the comments about the interior... for God's sake, it's a car wash. There's a charming front porch, if you're a sucker for oppressive heat. There's an air conditioned indoor area that has those nice rocking chairs and a sofa that admittedly may have once been in a frat house. But it doesn't take forever, you watch your car getting done, and I have a gorgeous clean car to drive. Really nice people too. read more

This was not my first visit to Mt Pleasant Wash & Wax, but will be my last. I miss the previous car wash that was at this location as it was my fav and they always did an excellent job - why did they leave? Anyway, back to this current experience. Yes, I did have a good amount of dirt in the floors of my car and they did a decent job of vacuuming. However, there was areas of my dash, console, and steering column that still had dust when I got in. I will admit that I didn't purchase the "top tier" wash, but I did purchase the next to the top tier and was disappointed to see that none of my back windows and the rear window had not been touched. I don't know about others, but when I go to a car wash with individuals who are cleaning the car at the end, I do expect my windows to be washed. Otherwise, I could go to one of those places where you load quarters in the machine and spray the car yourself. I was disappointed I had to come home and wash my windows myself after paying for the service and also having paid a 25% tip. I'll try their competition next, sad to say - I used to so love this location. read more

My car was broken into in my apartment's parking lot. They shattered my passenger window in and glass got everywhere. After scrambling to file a police report, I took my vehicle to these guys. They cleaned every shard of glass there was. (It was EVERYWHERE.) Really nice, empathetic, friendly people. Also very affordable! And there are very comfortable places to sit while you wait. I would give this car wash a -0 if I could. They charge $21+ for a freaking car wash but don't vacuum the inside of your car. Ridiculous!!! And let's not even talk about the cheaper car wash options; hell you might as well wash your own car because they don't do anything else but run your car through the automated wash. You have to dry & wipe your car down and vacuum it yourself. So, WHY the hell do I need to pay them $17??? Unbelievable. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!! Reminiscent of the hack wash job one does for their parents' car in middle school while the neighbor kids are playing on a Saturday. Supremely disappointing service from MPW&W There are still splattered bugs on the front of my car and headlights despite paying for the second most expensive exterior wash and detail. Meanwhile, there are smudges and dust in very conspicuous places. Takes more effort to ignore these spots then wipe them! To top it all off, they didn't even bother cleaning the inside of two windows. In closing, I will be finding a new car wash place despite MPW&W's proximity to home and work. Sad! read more

What outstanding customer service! The car washes are very good, but they really went the extra mile for me recently. Long story, but I was certain that my cupholder had been removed from my car during the hand wiping process. Turns out it was my dumb mistake. The cupholder was actually in a pullout drawer that I was not aware of. The point is that the owner, manager, and staff bent over backwards to help me, reviewing their video recordings, offering to let me come in and see them, and finally even giving me complimentary car washes. My 2014 VW Touareg is a work vehicle. I legit have not washed this car this year and only washed it once last year (terrible I know) - just to give you an idea of how filthy it was. I just picked it up from a detail today and the car looks about brand new. Vacuumed the seats, got in all the little crevices - stellar job. I live around the corner so plan on being a regular.
