In fact, tiny everything - living area, bathroom - except for the great king-sized bed in the bedroom. What really made our stay was hanging out in front of the owners' house next door, right on the canal! Amazing view and setting, so relaxing we would just sit and stare, or have a glass of wine. There is a fire pit, so if there's no burn ban that would be fun. Leo and Caroll were great hosts, and insist that they are OK with people like us virtually living in their front yard for hours!

Wendy, the owner, and her manager, Royce, are professional, responsive, and thoughtful people. During a three week stay during the covid restrictions, I witnessed the rooms thoroughly cleaned after the departure of each guest, with employees wearing masks the entire time they were in each room. Units include living areas, fireplaces, separate bedrooms, and kitchens, which can save on food costs during an extended stay, and there is a laundry machine and dryer. One possible drawback is the quite dedicated Mom Hummingbird who built a nest immediately in front of the office entrance. She doesn't hurt anyone, but prepare to be startled!

Negatives: 1. Faucet handles needs upgrading. 2. No stopper on the sink. I use a Kleenex, to prevent anything small falling in the pipes. 3. The room is not so bright. I have to turn on the TV for additional lights, so I can see what I'm doing. I cut & sew! I need ceiling lights! 4. No EWTN TV. 5. The bathroom and the bed is not ADA Compliance. I have bursitis, so it's difficult for me to climb up the California Bed. We have that at home, but I get up on a step stool, to get in/out of bed. We were in room 25, with a gorgeous view of the Sound. We had two queens (haha, so very appropriate...!). The mattresses seemed new and were comfortable. The room was clean, the sheets fresh, the kitchen area clean and stocked with Keurig cups (well, that's a bit of a downer, but not their fault). The room was very nicely decorated with all kinds of quirky prints and hangings, making the room cheerful and fun. The TV was quite large (55" ?). The halls and other common areas were clean and well decorated, again cheerful and fun. The grounds include a parking area for RV's which was well organized, neat and tidy, with a couple green areas and some cabins on the North side, but that wasn't the main event... ! They have a very pretty little stream that even had a few flowers when we visited and which empties into the sound, where the estuarial mix of fresh and salt waters attracts birds (and fish? need to find out!). They have a small pebble beach with steps leading down where they said it is fine to launch a kayak or two! To the South there is a power plant outlet! My excitement might puzzle those of you who don't fish in Winter, but not only is it deep and fast running, but may be warm enough to attract fish. It, like everything else we saw about the waters, appeared clean and free of trash, as one might typically see nearby RV camping. And..., There are some lovely businesses nearby at HoodCanal. We had coffee there at a very nice little shop (HoodCanal Coffee, who'd have thunk it?) and then ventured next door to the little wine shop, which was FULL of curios, art, and so many lovely little things. The proprietress was wonderfully chatty and really helped fill us in on the area. And that leads us to the people... ! The nice lady running the hotel was out of the office (pro tip: there is a call button to the right of the office door that pages her, so just tap that), but popped up quickly. She was very friendly and, when we ran out of coffee creamer, which we mentioned in passing in the hall, she told me not to bother coming down the stairs to the office and that she would bring it right up, which she did. She also had more information on the local area that was very helpful. We were very pleasantly surprised and will certainly be back... with kayak(s)!

I found the Salmon Cabin at Elk Meadow Farm to be the best lodging option. I determined our two hikes - Mt. Ellinor and Mt Townsend - then explored all hotel/motel/b&b options from the Union/Hoodsport area to Quilcene with 2 beds. There was basically 2 options with 2 beds - one higher end hotel (Alderbrook at $320/night for their most basic room, and not ideal since we were literally there just to sleep, and there was going to be a wedding) and motels. The Salmon Cabin was in between and at $140/night was great value. We arrived after hiking the Mt Ellinor trail. The owner, Jim, was very friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us additional info on the Mt Townsend hike. He left us hot coffee in 2 travel thermos at 6am the next morning, and then came to the cabin to check us out after our hike since he knew we were pressed to make our afternoon flights out of Sea-Tac. What made it great: - 2 rooms - bedroom with queen for my brother, and living space with futon for me - Bathroom was very clean and they left toiletries - Great use of space, with a full kitchen if you want to cook, washer and dryer if you are staying several days - They let us stay one night, and were flexible with check-out to allow us to shower after our morning hike - It was quiet and peaceful on a side street off Route 101 A few things to know: - A great central location between Mt. Ellinor and Mt Townsend, but limited options for dining/groceries in Brinnon. Therefore, we planned an early dinner at Hama Hama Oysters before closing (5:30) on our way to the cabin - This is a great value option - the sheets and towels were good quality for the price but you should not expect luxury hotel linens

The tower rooms are very conveniently attached to the casino and easy to get back-and-forth to your room. If you stay in a Resort Room, that building is not attached and you have to walk through the parking lot to get to the casino. I would say that that's the only downfall during the winter time of staying over there. But that is where the pool is so it just depends on what you're looking for at your stay. I have no complaints about the room, very clean and nice decor. My husband wished there was room service for breakfast the next morning but that is not available. I also wish they had valet parking. There is not nearly enough parking in the parking lot so if you don't find parking, you have to park in the parking garage and then walk all the way around back in to the hotel. Hotel staff were very friendly and the checkout process was easy. The second part of this review is going to be on the service from my work holiday party. The room was beautifully set up and the food was delicious. The staff that were coming around refilling water and taking plates were very attentive and friendly. We really liked Richard. The one employee that we encountered was the bartender assigned to our room. My first encounter from her I thought she was just having a bad day and I let it go. Not welcoming or friendly at all. Not even a smile. But as the night went on people started talking and it seemed everyone was having a not so good encounter from Robyn. She did not ID anyone all night, except my coworker that asked for a mocktail. She was rude to some people and unprofessional to others. It just progressively got worse. Yes the management will be reaching out to the contact they have at the casino to let them know. I was just so taken back about how somebody could go out of their way to be so rude at a fun holiday party. Other than that, the experience was great and I would highly recommend renting an event room there. Is it worth the drive?...yes

Although we were seated quickly and had a nice view of Hood Canal, the service and food have not improved. Our waiter was very bland and gave the impression that he wasn't all that interested in being there. My GF had the crab cakes. As you can see in the photo, each was about the size of a fifty-cent piece. So each cost around $20 and were not worth anything close to that. My miso sturgeon was only ok. Dry and without a hint of miso, it was disappointing. The best item was the side Brussels Sprouts. Crisp and tasty. So, the restaurant and resort are well located, and I'm sure the hotel rooms are nice. You just may want to eat elsewhere.
