When the driver who picked up my laptop was delayed at at appointment, Deondre picked up the ball and retrieved my laptop and brought it to me. He is personable, communicative and just a nice person. Unfortunately, my experience with the delivery service was disappointing. The sideboard is a large, substantial piece of furniture, and the delivery team unboxed it outside before bringing it into my home and completing the assembly indoors. After the delivery, I discovered a noticeable chip on the edge of the leftmost door. Hernest has since told me that the sideboard left their warehouse in perfect condition. I obviously cannot independently determine exactly when the damage occurred, but if the item did leave Hernest undamaged, then it appears the damage occurred sometime during transportation, unboxing, handling, or delivery. What was especially frustrating was how quickly the delivery team left once the piece was assembled. They cleaned up and departed without walking me through an inspection of the furniture or giving me a meaningful opportunity to examine it for damage. I also was not asked to sign anything acknowledging that I had inspected and accepted the delivery in good condition. By the time I noticed the chip, the delivery team was already gone. To me, that defeats much of the purpose of paying for a white-glove delivery service. With an expensive piece of furniture, I would expect the delivery team to carefully handle the item, assemble it, allow the customer to inspect it, and confirm that everything arrived in satisfactory condition before leaving. I do want to be fair: the team successfully brought a very large piece of furniture into my home and assembled it. My issue is with the damage and the lack of a proper final inspection before they rushed out. Hernest is currently working with me to try to obtain a replacement door, and I'm hoping the issue can ultimately be resolved. But based on this delivery experience, I would be hesitant to use Metropolitan Warehouse & Delivery again for expensive furniture.
