I have used Erv to move a bunch of small to medium items on multiple occasions, and each time Erv has been super kind, communicative, and reliable. Erv's is fantastic! We needed someone to help us get a washing machine down 2 flights of stairs and into another neighborhood. Herve got back to us super quickly, and after we sent him the specs for the washing machine, came back with a quote that blew everyone else's out of the water, and without much notice (it was 3 days from the time we reached out to the day of the move). Day of, he was super communicative (and apologetic for being slightly late, which in my experience is par for the course with moving in NYC). It turns out a washing machine is super awkward to move, especially down stairs, but they handled it with flying colors, and the whole thing went smoother than I had hoped. They let me ride in the van back to our apartment, and were super friendly and chatty for the 15-minute or so ride. Everything got into our apartment in one piece - there was a slight scratch (totally cosmetic) that they caused and immediately pointed out, which I appreciated. Honest movers, who knew? Really, as good as it gets - 5 stars. Being a single female in my 20s - yeah I was seriously apprehensive and STRESSED OUT about finding a trustworthy mover to carry me and my stuff. After lots of google searching, I thankfully found Erv, a truly nice, easy-going guy in his 40s with a van. He takes away the logistical stress of moving, and seems like he's been doing it for YEARS (although he said only about 5) He's very procedural and after 10 minutes you recognize that you are in good hands. The move was done almost as effortlessly as can be. He's a good driver (although the van is old, it does the job) and really knows the Brooklyn area. Erv is the best, hands down. We have worked with him twice - once to move a couch and another to move a large credenza. He works with you to find the least expensive way to move your piece (for us that meant my husband helped move instead of bringing on a second guy), and he is incredibly detail oriented from the first. He likes to have photos of what needs to be moved so that he can be sure he has everything he needs to do the job when he arrives and he moves with precision around tight corners and staircases, he didn't leave a scratch behind! I spent some time stressing on Craigslist and Yelp about how to move a stranger's couch (okay, technically a friend of the brother of my brother's girlfriend) into my apartment without paying some overpriced moving service. I called Erv the day before the move, didn't get an answer, and continued to call other men with vans. Fortunately, Erv called me back later the same day and blew all of the other people's quotes out of the water. ($100 for moving the couch down four flights of narrow stairs, driving it across Park Slope, and maneuvering it into my ground-floor apartment). Erv arrived directly from another job with his friend Bryce, and they proceeded to be excellent, helpful and efficient in every way. The hardest part of moving the couch was getting it through the door of my apartment, but they handled it like pros, and now the couch is sitting happily in my living room. My boyfriend and I carried the couch cushions and didn't do much of anything besides that. Oh, but we did have fun riding across the neighborhood with Erv and Bryce, who provided entertaining commentary on everything from George W. Bush and Obama to Keanu Reeves. I was in need of someone after July 4th to help with a light moving job on short notice picking up small furniture and boxes at an apartment in Hells Kitchen and delivering to a new apartment in downtown Brooklyn. At the same time, I also needed to take ten boxes of clothing and household items from the Brooklyn apartment to Goodwill. I did not need a full blown moving service and all this would cost. Erv was punctual, very kind, and gentle with my antique desk. I bought a small antique desk in Chelsea which had to be moved to my elevator building in South Brooklyn. When I needed to move a few weeks ago, I found Erv on Brooklyn Backpage. I wanted to set a flat rate of $150, and after some discussion over the phone we agreed to that rate. We arranged a time for the next afternoon, and he arrived a few minutes early. My couch and the rest of my stuff was loaded perfectly into his long, white van (although I was nervous that it wouldn't fit); the load-out was easy, and we had the whole job finished ahead of schedule.
