I unexpectedly needed a few additional items boxed on moving day, and they handled everything without hesitation. Every item was packed and transported with great care. Nothing was broken, damaged, or missing. The move into my new space was just as smooth as the move out of my old one. They carefully followed all of the building's rules for elevator use, placed furniture exactly where I requested, and neatly stacked boxes in the appropriate rooms. What impressed me most was their professionalism and attention to detail. They communicated clearly throughout the process, regularly checked to make sure I didn't have any questions, and truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right. Before leaving, they removed all of the packing materials they had used and left both my old and new homes clean and tidy. The entire move stayed on schedule and was remarkably efficient. I honestly could not have been happier with how smoothly everything went. The two movers assigned to my move were truly exceptional--kind, courteous, hardworking, and diligent professionals who clearly take great pride in their work. What surprised me most was that because everything was pre-packed and was an easy move, they charged me less than estimated because it was quick. So I didn't even have to pay more. I want to provide enough context so anyone considering Solidarity Movers can make an informed decision. Overall, this was one of the better moves I've had, but not one that warrants the 5-star reviews I see here. My husband and I moved from MA to NY due to family circumstances. The move was already stressful before it began, which is relevant because Solidarity was recommended by a friend who had a great experience with them. Given some poor experiences I've had with movers in the past, I felt confident choosing them. Unfortunately, things started off rocky. I completed a video walkthrough, received an initial quote, and then requested a revision. After that, communication stalled. Multiple follow-ups went unanswered, and I couldn't even get confirmation that my request was being worked on. After about a day of silence while other companies were responding consistently, I was ready to book elsewhere and left a review reflecting my experience. Within minutes, owner Zak called me. He was understanding, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about my concerns. Communication improved immediately, I received the revised quote, and their pricing felt fair, so I booked the move. A couple of weeks before the move, I reached out to confirm everything was still on track and asked about payment. I was told, in writing by Mike, that the remaining balance would be due "upon completion of your move." To me, that clearly meant after delivery. The move was scheduled for June 19 with overnight delivery on June 20. The crew was originally expected between 12 PM and 2 PM but arrived around 4 PM due to traffic. Traffic happens, and I had no issue with the delay itself. The crew was polite, worked efficiently, and seemed to handle our belongings with care. Unfortunately, this is where my experience started to decline. While packing, I overheard two crew members make a joke about my husband and me. It wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but it was disappointing to become the subject of a gay joke, especially from a company that publicly projects queer allyship. I chose not to make an issue of it, but another customer may have felt differently. Once loading was complete, the foreman informed me that the remaining balance was due immediately. This directly contradicted the written communication I had received. When I raised the issue, Mike acknowledged there had been a miscommunication but insisted I still had to pay on the spot. What made the interaction frustrating was how dismissive he came across. He stated this was standard procedure and said he would investigate the miscommunication, but unless there is another Mike, the miscommunication originated with him. Rather than create additional stress for myself, I paid the balance and moved on. To be clear, I still tipped the crew generously because they worked hard. By the end of the move, they had received $1,200 total in gratuity, or $400 per mover. The next day, delivery was delayed again due to traffic, but the unloading process itself was quick and organized. The crew followed instructions, reassembled our storage bed, and got everything into the house efficiently. After unloading, I was asked to sign paperwork stating everything had been delivered without damage. This struck me as odd because we hadn't unpacked a single box yet, so there was no realistic way to verify that. Like many people at the end of a move, I signed because I was exhausted and just wanted the process finished. While unpacking later, I discovered our $1,500 credenza had been damaged. Two interior shelves were broken, one completely split in half. Several glass items were also broken in transit. Nothing irreplaceable, but damage nonetheless. Could I file a claim? Sure. But after an already stressful interstate move, I don't have the time or energy to go through another lengthy process. Instead, I'm leaving this review so others can make an informed decision. Despite everything, I would still consider recommending Solidarity Movers, especially for a local move. The crew worked hard, and this was far from the worst moving experience I've had. However, the communication issues, payment confusion, dismissive handling of that confusion, inappropriate comment, and damage to our belongings prevent me from rating the experience higher. Trust Solidarity Movers for your moving needs! I was looking for movers to help unload a 15 feet…read morerental truck and not only did they complete the job in less than 2 hours, they were very professional and took very good care of our items. From filling out the form online to get a quote to answering all my questions and producing a Certificate of Insurance (COI) for my building to the unloading to finishing the job, everyone I spoke to were very pleasant and very responsive. On moving day, I was stuck in traffic and took me longer to arrive than expected. I called them to let them know and they informed me that the crew start their clock upon arrival at the destination unfortunately and had to pay extra time, but I understood. I received a call when the movers were on site and their names were Bryan and Francis. I absolutely had all my confidence in them knowing exactly what to do and they had all the right equipment. I highly recommend Solidarity Movers!

One of the kitchen packers opens lid of my spice box (I had leaves and chillies puts his nose in sniffs and asks what is it? 3. Packed every little thing in white wrapper so unpacking was hell. Single stainless steel spoon wrapped in 4 layers of packing . 4. Who does this .packing open can of bleach with groceries. While unpacking I saw white dust thought its paint once I hit end of box it was bleach so ended up throwing everything from that box. Which professional mover does that 5. Random packing. I had very organized closet but they picked random items and packed in diff boxes so i had box with sweaters pillow covers photo frames and belts all from diff parts of closet. LASTLY we were given pricing we paid that by bill and paid $800 extra over that without receipt as they demanded that they packed box. When vector gave me a quote it included 10 medium boxes $20 per box but the guys packed everything with white wrapper in kitten not one but 4 sheets and increased boxes packed to 30 , unethically charging us for small boxes stuffed with white paper. Please note it was a very painful experience and no one deserves this kind of billing or nonsense

It's so easy to underestimate and get a different price at the end. Also, I know I wanted packers because its speeds up the entire process of moving and settling in. I'm so glad I did with Roadway. It usually takes me over half a week to pack and be stressed for over a week, but Diego and his 3 teammates packed up our studio in 2-3 hours. They're so professional. They moved so quickly with care and accuracy. Most importantly, all my kitchen appliances were wrapped with care and delivered and arrived to my new apartment in the same condition. It took us about 2 hrs to settle in, and they once again unpacked most of the furnitures and reassembled them, making me feel settled in and relaxed. I cannot thank their team enough. They're all so polite, friendly and efficient. Within 1 day, I already feel 95% settled in. It's the easiest, stress-free moving experience I had in a while!

Erv is the best. He showed up right on time. I was moving a hutch (bought on craigslist) that turned out heavier and bulkier than we predicted (I had called it a bookcase when we discussed it on the phone). In spite of the complications, Erv managed to find solutions every step of the way. First for the lack of a parking spot. Then for a second pair of hands. We had a great ride from Gramercy to Bushwick. We talked about politics and american history. New York City. Then Erv helped me ask for more help from a neighbor. They took the hutch upstairs. Erv knew exactly what to do without breaking a sweat. And he kept spreading his good energy in the whole process. Erv is very affordable and I payed him more than the initial rate we've discussed given all these added troubles. I would have done that even just because of our enjoyable ride together. I just read another review of Erv here that sounded just like poetry. That's what I felt about Erv, too. You'd never think that such a seemingly daunting process as moving stuff can be, can become such a celebratory occasion. That's what Erv makes you feel. Hire him. I had a small job transporting a large, 100 lb storage cabinet that I had purchased brand new. I had the item delivered to the retailer in town for pickup. I started making some calls on Saturday 6/3/17 late in the day looking for someone with a van to help me cart this thing across town and carry it up 2 fights of stairs to my apartment. I started down the yelp list of top rated movers. After numerous unreturned calls, e-mails, forms filled out online or otherwise crazy high estimates received or responses of "booked up through June" I called Erv and immediately got Erv on the phone. I described the job and in the same call we agreed on a reasonable price and scheduled a time for the next day after one of his other jobs. We kept consistent communication via phone and text and he arrived at the pickup location on time. We rode together to the destination and together hauled the item to my apartment, everything according to plan. Erv is amazing!!! I don't yelp or leave reviews often, but this was my 3rd time using Erv last minute and he knocked it out of the park like usual. There's a reason why he's rated 5/5 stars across the board. He really is one of the good ones, always a fair price and really detailed oriented. I have to send photos of what's going inside his van to make sure it fits. Phone calls work best with him, more efficient. One thing I haven't seen mentioned in the other reviews is his great sense of direction! The man is a human GPS for the streets of the five boroughs, especially Brooklyn! Literally there hasn't been an address I've given him where he hasn't been able to automatically get from point a to point b without once looking at a GPS. Seriously though, I am a customer for life. I will never hire another moving service in NYC, the guy is so honest and decent regarding his service and his person. Hard to find in a business where $$$ is king. Go Erv!! read more

I was trying to buy some furniture on Craigslist for my son's apartment in the east village and wanted to find a mover before I purchased anything. It made little sense to me to pay $150.00 to move a dresser that cost $50.00! I asked for estimates from several companies and generally received delayed responses and uniformly high prices....except for Erv's Affordable Mover and Van Service. Erv's response was quick and courteous, his prices fair and his scheduling very accomodating. I didn't end up using Erv because the seller I ultimately purchased from included delivery. However, Erv's name is now in my permanent contact list; I consider myself lucky to have found this company, and wanted to share the name with others who are facing the frustrating challenge of moving furniture in and around New York City. read more

I rang Erv for a quote on a small job recently and we were a little scatty with organising a delivery day/time. Due to timing circumstances, we unfortunalty ended up asking him to pick up/delivery on Thanksgiving eve - at rush hour - in the rain. Not only was Erv very patient, accomodating and calm when I was all over the place, but he was also reliable, competitively priced and extremely professional. He was punctual, easy to contact, courteous and respectful of our items in his care. Erv has a very warm and honest nature and I felt totally at ease dealing with him throughout. No one came close to his prices or level of service and I would recommend Erv 110% for any of your moving and van needs. If you need a light moving job, one that you don't need a regular moving truck for and don't want to pay a corresponding arm and leg for, Erv's your man with a van. After several frustrating calls to companies that advertised small moving jobs (but the prices quoted were ridiculous for a small table and two chairs to be moved from the West Side to the East Side), I found him on Yelp, thank goodness. He quoted a more than reasonable price, kept in constant contact, came when he said he would, and accomplished the move very smoothly. All this, and Erv's a super nice, courteous guy--he made what could have been an ordeal on a rainy night a pleasant experience. Will definitely use him again for any future small moves! read more

As a young female, I was looking for an affordable mover who was not sketchy, which is a daunting search in a big city. Fortunately, I stumbled across an ad for Erv that lead me to the Yelp reviews, and I can honestly say that after my move with him, I can also attest to the fact that he is indeed the man. He moved a high-top table and 2 bar stools for me from Chelsea to the Upper East Side for only $50, even though I kind of called him last minute since the SUV taxi I called earlier refused to do it once I confirmed my reservation and mentioned "furniture." Erv was kind, outgoing, helpful and affordable. I will recommend him to any of my friends in the city, and I'm sure I'll be calling him again. read more

Erv was really professional and respectful from beginning to end. I was leaving a 6 floor walk-up in Manhattan (phew!) and I was very stressed out about the move in general. I know it was difficult to get all my stuff out of there and the walk up certainly didn't help. He only charged me a flat rate of $200 and did a great job! The move ended up being much more complicated than I had anticipated but, nevertheless, he stuck with his very affordable flat rate. He and his associate even helped me set up my bed before moving the rest of the stuff into my new apartment. I was very impressed and relieved at the end of the whole thing. We were looking for someone to move a very heavy, tall revolving bookcase from my dining room out to my garage. I explained to Erv my concern regarding my new floors and a large entry light fixture - and the need to be extremely careful. Erv was pleasant and professional, and assured me he and his assistant would take care to live the bookcase safely. I'm so lucky to find Erv in craiglist and yelp. He is a great and nice man. He helped me a lot when I was moving out from my apartment to another place. He did it professionaly and by reasonable price. I called him at night, the day before moving . Even it was like 11-12 o'clock at night, I tryed anyway ,and he answered and found a time for next day to help me. After we moved all my stuff he drived me back ( bcs I have had appointment with my ex landlord who wanted to give me my deposit back) to save my time and money. Absolutely the best! A very fair price and a pleasure to deal with. Erv visited us a few days in advance to get a clear idea of what was involved and it was immediately apparent that we were dealing with an honest and capable person. On moving day he and another great guy, his assistant Glen, arrived on time, carried everything including some BIG plants (small trees actually), metal file cabinets, boxes of books, etc., with utmost care through narrow halls and stairways, loaded them securely in the van and delivered them unscathed to our LI home. I texted him about moving a kitchen island I was considering buying off of Craigslist and within 3 hours he had gone to Queens to pick it up and delivered it to me in Brooklyn. In the last month Erv has done three moves for me. From now on, he will be my "go-to" for small moves. It was pleasant working with Erv ....he is professional, pleasant and efficient. His rates are reasonable. When you call to make the arrangements, he asks for specifics, no palaver, he gives you his rate and that is it. Dependable is the word. I called Erv the day before my move and he gave me a quick and amazing flat fee after hearing the distance of the move and total items I had. He came right on time and was so helpful, efficient and pleasant to work with. We had great conversation as well on the way to my new place and he went above and beyond for such a great price. I called Erv after I bought a couch on Craigslist and it was 100% a positive moving experience, which I have to say has not been the case for some of my other moves. He was flexible in his scheduling, on time, professional, and seems to be like a genuine guy. Very fair pricing. Our move was particularly difficult (big couch up a very narrow spiral staircase), and Erv and his assistant Bryce came to the job with a can do attitude. Erv provided a 5-star move for my single item move. I bought a kitchen island from Craigslist and needed pick-up the very next day. It was a three flight walk up, but since I was able to help Erv bring down the item he provided me with the most reasonable quote.
