Stopped here for a quick pick-me-up on the way from Franconia Notch back to Boston. Nestled in between mountains, there's a beautiful view here, and it's also next to Kancamagus Highway. This place is awesome! It's a coffee shop inside of a thrift store. The thrift store items are great quality, ski, and snowboard attire. So if you are looking for secondhand clothes without having to pay high prices of retail, this is the place for you. We went as a family and a half of our group sat in the coffee shop area and ordered specialty warm drinks, which were excellent. We were walking around after lunch and decided to go in for a coffee. We had the shaken iced espresso. IT IS THE BEST I'VE HAD! I had the lavender flavor added to mine and my husband had it as is. They're super creamy and smooth. I wish they had this closer to where we live, I'd go back everyday. The shop is super cute. Really lovely thrift and coffee shop tucked away near Loon mountain. The thrift area is mostly separate from the food area, and had lots of good clothes and shoes. Plenty of winter/ ski coats and pants, and a section of used ski equipment and gear as well. Could be a good place to go if you forget something when packing for your trip. The cafe area is very cozy and full of books. I tried a dirty chai latte and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! The flavor was perfectly spiced and smooth, and the texture of the drink was silky, creamy, and topped with the perfect amount of milk foam. An ok little thrift store. It's a lot bigger inside than you expect from the outside. Their clothing selections are pretty limited, don't expect to find any special brand names here. That being said, Encore has a surprisingly large kitchen section, and a TON of really nice dish ware sets. Like if I didn't already have a nice set at home I would've snatched em up. Absolutely awesome experience went in today's to have coffee and a snack unfortunately the coffee shop only had a nut cookie and a croissant left but after all we did go in late in the afternoon. Casey was amazingly friendly she was so helpful points out things to me that I would not have seen otherwise like I bought this really cool tote bag that was made from recycled T-shirts which I thought was super awesome. Looking forward to using that. I also found two Trixie Belden mystery stories I've been looking for for a while and they were very reasonable even though they were antique they were still only three dollars each. The T-shirt bag was $.75. I then went around the store and found some really good items their pricing is very easy it goes according to a color tag so today the red and one other color were full price but then it went all the way down to where if the color of the tag was white it was free. I thought that was very interesting I ended up purchasing some shorts and shirts and two pairs of scrub pants they were only $1.50 apiece. I also picked up a Red Sox shirt brand new like a golf shirt for my honey that was only seven and then I also purchased a pair of shorts for him that were two dollars because they were half price. This store gets their items by donation and all money raised on the sale of the items in the store go towards local organizations that need help and services. This is truly a wonderful way to get back to the community. I unfortunately am leaving for my vacation spot tomorrow so I won't get a chance to go back there again but I wish I had gone there earlier in the week so I could be able to go back a second time. My wife, me and her service dog went in the thrift shop yesterday. The clerk yelled out as soon as we walked in, emotional service dogs are not allowed. She had attitude. I said who said it's an emotional service dog? She just kept up with her loud attitude with the emotional service dogs aren't allowed. At that point we had enough of her and left. We have been in there numerous times before and never had a problem. I wasn't about to tell her what service the dog does for my wife now that the big mouth had everyone's attention. The dog is trained to detect if she is about to have a seizure. The blond clerk with the tattoos doesn't give a thrift store with a religious backing a friendly feel. Rude and loud. Last time in there and she needs to understand service dog laws before jumping to conclusions. read more

Came down to this part of NH for a hiking trip and one of the days it rained we ventured into town to see what was around, and I came across this thrift store. The prices on clothes are a little higher than what I'm used to, but they have other useful stuff for really cheap. There are lots of books, board games, toys, sports gear, jewelry, etc. I was also really pleased with the fact that they had a bathroom, and what a nice bathroom it is! Super clean, and it felt like it was part of someone's house. Nice change from the bathrooms in the park. This is my donation store of choice, whenever I have things that I'd like to give away. Many of the collection boxes you typically see in parking lots are actually big business or are commercial recycling concerns where the clothing isn't given/sold to the poor, but rather shipped overseas where it is broken back down to thread and recycled. Better than ending up in a landfill, I guess, but certainly not as good as doing good for the community. Encore Thrift Shop is different. The proceeds they generate really go to charity. They give tens of thousands of dollars in proceeds to the area poor and from a very reliable source I understand they give gift certificates to the extremely needy who can't afford even their low prices. I have to say, this place is very clean and spacious in comparison to others I find in nyc. They have a large selection of toys, tapes, and board games. I'm not a cloth person so I tend to ignore that section. However, everything is overpriced. Pictionary for $10? I can find it on craigslist for $5.
