Let me say, I am grateful that Sugar Land has a world-class Muay Thai instructor right here in our…read moreown back-yard. Professor Paul Song is an extraordinary teacher, and he is amazing with kids of all ages. His teaching style is second to none. The very first time I saw one of his kids classes, I didn't even blink once, I immediately enrolled my 5 year old son in his class. Through Professor Paul Song, my son has learned discipline, respect, and self-control. I strongly believe that the strong discipline taught here also carries over to my sons other activities - it is very noticeable. The art of Muay Thai itself will teach the ability to defend oneself but what I really like about Professor Paul Song when it comes to teaching the children is his compassion and the great lessons on moral responsibility when it comes to anti-bullying and not abusing the art. If you are looking for an activity for your child, boy or girl, this is it... * Located next to Renzo Gracie Riverstone Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu *

I thoroughly enjoyed my class lead by coach Paul. The facility was very nice which is very different from what I experience in NYC. The class pace was intense and the techniques and corrections from the coach were well appreciated. The vibes were very positive. I would definitely do another class here when I visit the area again.

Self-confidence, physical fitness, patience, discipline, respect for others, self-defense,…read moreemotional stability... your kid will get all of this and more. Girls excel at this sport and actually out-perform boys until they are at least 10 years old. Start them at 6, and maybe add some muy thai or boxing etc at 9 or 10 too. Do not try to coach. Do not offer advice. Support without opinions, and maybe try it out yourself. Sit back and watch the magic happen... it will. Don't care if it actually helps in a self defense situation? Want your kid to be a pretend martial arts master? Become a "black belt" after 5 or 6 years? If that is the goal, you can get your kid into karate or tae kwon do or kung fu or whatever... Just make sure they don't try to use it in a fight with someone who can actually fight. And do not expect them to get the same lessons in humility and respect that they will learn first hand in bjj. Ravlin has it all.

I thought the instruction was good, the mats were clean , and the people were very friendly. Head instructor was technical and broke things down well . The sense of humor and banter here made me feel very comfortable. The also have Muay Thai. I didn't get to try any of those classes but their equipment looked top notch. This will be my go-to Houston gym for the foreseeable future

I've been training at Revolution Houston for over two years, so this review is long overdue. Having…read moremoved from Iowa City, I was looking for a new school to train in Houston.I was one of the first members of my previous club (Hawkeye BJJ) and had trained there for over 10 years. I was really hoping to find a similar friendly training atmosphere. I found it at Revolution Houston. Everyone who trains here is nice, friendly, has really good technique, and respect for sport of Jiu Jitsu. The instructors are first class and have a ton of experience. Head instructor Jeff Messina, is a former pro MMA fighter, and National Guardsman. He is a BJJ black belt and Judo Black belt. Jaime, who teaches the beginner class BJJ class is a BJJ brown belt and Judo Black belt. Mike and Dinko are the other instructors who are brown belts. Jeff is well connected and has been in the sport for years, so there are always other black belts, and professional fighters (UFC included) dropping in. There are at least 2 classes (if not 3) scheduled each day, making it convenient to fit any schedule. I personally make it a point to attend 3 classes a week, and can easily do that with my crazy schedule. There are two locations, one in downtown Houston where I mostly train. The facility is big enough to fit a class of 30-40. The other is a much bigger location in Katy. You can train at either facility. The coaches are really interested in you becoming a better, fitter, practitioner and person. Being new to Houston, I have made a lot of good friends at Revolution. There is also Muay Thai offered, I don't do it, but some of the guys train BJJ as well, and I know their Muay Thai is phenomenal, if you want to train both. Both adult and kid's classes are offered. This is a very safe and clean environment to train in. Don't think twice about it, this is one of the best locations to train at in Houston (if not Texas).

Had the chance to "let" my 12 year old Monster-in-the-making secure submissions on his old man (me) at a 3 to 1 ratio (in his favor lol). It is pretty well known that BJJ just plain works. P.S.: I said "let" only because I agreed to get on the mat with him... I didn't "allow" him to get a submission until we had been at it (rolling) for about 20 min... and that was after five min of stretching and ten minutes of informal drills. He finally wore me out toward the end and got his last one (of 3, after I basically gave up, gassed out (yes I need to take better care of myself), but he got the first two righteously. BTW I weigh 218 he weighs 138. Great sport/martial art, great place to learn it. Thanks team!
