    Pupusa loroco with cheese

This location has seen several different types of Latin American restaurants over the last several years. Guatemalan cuisine is featured here. I got a pupusa with loroco, cheese and the herb called Chipilín. This pupusa was the best tasting I've ever had, served with a warm tomato sauce and pickled cabbage (cortido). I tried the tamalito Chipilín, a delicious little bite, tender masa infused with the banana leaf wrap. Server was very friendly and took the time to answer questions about what was being served. The last dish I got was a plate of crispy chicharron served with a salad of thinly sliced radish and onions, with a citrus dressing. Grilled onion and pepper plus freshly made tortillas. The tortillas were thicker than the usual Mexican style almost like pita bread. Many open tables plus a bar toward the rear. Alcohol also served here.

I was driving home one day and my partner noticed this place and told me to turn around. She is Guatemalan and told me it was a Guatemalan restaurant and that we should try it. Came in and liked the layout they have plenty of indoor seating and a cool bar area in the back. They serve guatemalan alcohol as well which is cool and their food is more on the traditional side of things so if you are guatemalan and miss home this could be the place for you. Food is so good and service is friendly and attentive which is great. I ordered the pupusas, (yes pupusas are also eaten in Guatemala) and a pork and chicken chuchito which is a mini tamale. Food was good and different to the many Mexican restaurants around the area so it's a nice addition to that area. Would we be back, yes, food is good and it reminds my partner of home so why not.

Great server. Food was promptly served. Coffee needs improvement but there so many other drinks to try next visit, like the atole de plátano!

Very excited this spot is here and open! Exceptional service, CLEAN, & food was amazing! We ordered pollo en crema, Tostadas de guacamol, frijoles y salsa, and the garnachas appetizer. I've travelled to Guatemala multiple times and as recent as August 2024. This restaurant is truly authentic. I cannot choose which was my favorite though: the Tostadas de guacamol frijoles y salsa or the garnachas appetizer. Parking is easy, free, $ right out front (private lot); there's a full bar and in the back, tvs all around. Perfect for football and fútbol seasons! Cannot wait to visit again!

Great service and ambience, the waitress kept checking on us which was convenient. The food wait was reasonable for the quality we got. Tasty and filling, place was clean and parking wasn't an issue specially because we had a large vehicle. Overall I would recommend if you are looking to try authentic Guatemalan food.

We visited Muchá! Comida Chapina on a Sunday afternoon with my fiancé and some friends because they have traditional Guatemalan marimba music. The music was beautiful and the atmosphere felt lively -- people were clearly enjoying themselves. The only downside is that the space is small and hard to walk through, which made it a bit uncomfortable. We ordered two Antojitos Muchá! platters, which are great if you want to sample a variety of dishes. I got to try Salpicón (ground beef with mint and radish) for the first time -- it sounds unusual but was surprisingly tasty. Another highlight was the Rellenitos (ripe plantain balls filled with beans). So good! For my main dish, I had Camarones Guisados (stewed shrimp). Unfortunately, it was just okay -- not bad, but a little boring compared to everything else. So, why 3 stars? The service. They brought one of our Antojitos platters right away, but the second didn't arrive until about 15 minutes later, which was awkward. My chair's cushion was all ripped (not pretty), and they barely gave us napkins (we had to ask more than once). Maybe they were short-staffed, but it definitely took away from the experience.

The bikini bar theme adds to the fun without ever feeling over the top - the bartenders are professional, friendly, and genuinely know how to make people feel at home. It's exactly the kind of local spot that keeps you coming back! A huge shout-out to Sheila, who took care of us for two days in a row. She is an absolute rockstar behind the bar. She was incredibly gracious, hilarious, attentive, and somehow always knew when we needed another drink before we even had to ask. She has that perfect personality for bartending - fun, engaging, and just the right amount of playful flirting that makes everyone smile while still making you feel like you're hanging out with an old friend. The drinks were cold, the service was fast, the conversations were great, and the overall vibe was exactly what you'd hope for from a classic neighborhood sports bar. Whether you're stopping in to watch a game, shoot some pool, listen to music, or just unwind after work, The Sportsman's delivers. It's rare these days to find a place where the service stands out as much as the atmosphere, but Sheila and the rest of the staff absolutely made our visit memorable. We'll definitely be back, and hopefully we'll be lucky enough to catch Sheila behind the bar again. If you're anywhere near Los Alamitos and haven't been to The Sportsman's yet, you're missing out. Five off the back somewhere like what's the frame-shot stars isn't enough!

Lunch plates run $16 for two items and $19 for a three item plate, with some items having an upcharge. Lunch plates also come with miso soup and a side salad. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he let us know about a sushi roll deal that was buy 2, get the 3rd free (if I recall correctly). * Salmon roll: I was really surprised with how good the quality of fish was! The roll also had good amount of salmon inside; it wasn't overstuffed with rice which is a salmon roll pet peeve of mine. * Teriyaki chicken: Tender white meat with good flavor. Generous portion size for the price. * Bulgogi: I'm usually hesitant to order bulgolgi at Japanese restaurants but I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful it was. It's better than some Korean places I've been to and definitely the best I've had at a Japanese spot so far. This had a $2 upcharge. * Crunch roll: Classic shrimp tempura roll. Solid and as expected. * Miso soup: Also as expected, no complaints. * Salad: It's your standard Japanese restaurant salad with the sweet ginger salad dressing. I liked the dressing here, it had a sweet tangy feel but didn't overpower the greens. Parking is easy with spots right in front. The interior looks a little dated, but after trying the quality of the food it makes me feel like I found a hidden gem in Los Al. Only downside: the bathroom wasn't stocked with paper towels, but we were also the first customers of the day, so that might've been a timing issue.
