The water we were served had an awful aftertaste and a stale, nasty, moldy odor.

My family and I went to THE ELDO to celebrate my son's 55th birthday last night. We were expecting great Rib Eye's and a great dining experience based on our past visits. This time however begining with the glasses of water that were promptly brought out. Our first reaction, all 6 of us was abject disgust at the taste of the iced water. It had an ultra strong moldy taste and odor and awful aftertaste like used dishwater or that it had been filtered through old, crusty, dirty filthy gym socks. The entire water service, all 6 glasses was unbelievably nauseously stale. No amount of lemon could eradicate the smell and taste of sewer water? We asked for bottled water but we were informed that there wasn't any available. I also ordered iced tea with the thought that the tea would be made with the same disgusting Pliny Beach tap water. I'm a Vietnam veteran and i have experienced some really awful water before but this was absolutely the worst I've ever tasted. GROSS! It was enough to gag a maggot. I might suggest either install a reverse osmosis filter or if there is one already, thoroughly replace the filter and clean the algae and mold out of it with bleach. The awful water put a bit of a damper on the rest of the meal. I had asked for a baked potato with the toppings be served on the side along with some Worcestershire sauce for the potato. It took three (3) requests over fifteen minutes to finally have a container of Worcestershire sauce brought to the table. By the time I was able to prepare the potato, the broccoli and carrot side had gone cold. The steaks were acceptable but not of the same quality as we all remembered from past ELDO visits. We had an appetizer of fried zucchini and two big Pretzles which were served hot fresh and tasty. My main issue was quality of the water. GAWDAWFUL does not EVEN begin to describe that HORRIBLE experience.

Okay long overdue review. We went here for Valentine's dinner. Originally we had their signature steak in kind. But we saw the pasta menu, and quickly changed our minds. It did not disappoint! I got the creamy chicken pesto and he got the short rib gnocchi. Both were absolutely delicious. It's quite a popular local spot. Parking lot is small but there's plenty of street parking in the neighborhood. We'll definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu!

First time visiting to celebrate a birthday, and the restaurant was much bigger than I expected. Parking is pretty limited -- your options are either the small lot, a darker area behind the building, or nearby residential streets. The portions are HUGE! We ordered appetizers, and about 10 minutes later our entrees came out too, which felt a bit rushed. There was so much food that we couldn't even finish half of it. I ordered the salmon pesto and absolutely loved it -- tons of flavor and really delicious. For dessert, we had the butter cake, and it was amazing. Overall, I'd recommend giving this place a try. I'd definitely come back to sample more dishes.

Love you all - brought guest in for the Rib Eye- but the reservation I put in with open table - wasn't there. Had it on my phone- oh well. Shendoah at the Arbor got us in. Next time I hope.

I passed this place for years. Finally tried this place out with reservations. This place gets really packed. Parking can be difficult to find, pending on the hours you arrive. Parking is tight, meaning if you have a large truck it can pose a problem to fit in the tight spaces that are provided. Checked in with the front host. Wait time was 15 minutes. We were greeted and seated at our tables. The ambiance was very nice. Since this is a South Africa establishment, you had some type of sense you were in the Saraha. Ordered drinks of Beer and cocktails. Delivered to us in 5 minutes. Prompt service! Ordered Beef Straganov and Beef Pot Pie. Entrees did not dissapoint! All was fresh and delicous. The portion size were very large! You get what you pay for at this restaurant! Big Kudos to Aiden! He was a fantastic server. Great customer service. He always checked up on us. I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be back. My to go spot for now on. Great food and Service! Large establishment.

Food was great had the bacon wrapped date appetizer! And the rib eye entree! Zero complaints! Service was spot on! Ambiance was what you would expect of a sports bar restaurant! Lots of seating! I would definitely come back!

The Eldo has a super fun and casual vibe. Their menu really does have something for every palate, making it a great place to gather with friends, family, and more. It gets pretty loud because of the crowds, but it's still a nice and fun ambiance. My friend and I tried the Shrimp au Gratin, and it was amazing!! I would definitely get this appetizer again. For the main, we shared the ribeye after all the rave reviews. It was a very good steak, and the onion rings were amazing! The veggies were nothing to write home about, but we figured we better get some veggies in. We also tried the Malva Butter Cake, and it was HUGE. Delicious, and would've loved even more of the drizzle. They do take reservations. Also, they have big screen TVs for the various games. Can't wait to come back!

We walked in without reservation and they make us sit right away on a Saturday night. Place was happening, ambiance was chill and everyone was in their own element. They got cool outside patio too. Food was simply delicious. We tried Mediterranean Salmon, lamb shank, and Malta butter cake for dessert and everything was great. All dishes tasted delicious and was made it to its perfection. Really love this place and we will be coming back soon.

We go back for the pretzel appetizer, it's warm and fluffy great cheese brown mustard dip sauce. But the best deal is the ribeye steak, upgrade with wedge salad and baked potato. We love sitting at the bar with great service and TV to watch It would be great if it was some live music playing in the background

Haven't been here in person for a couple years so me and my husband decided to come visit on Valentine's Day! And it didn't disappoint. I've always wanted to try the pretzel with beer cheese and it tasted so fresh. We also had fried zucchini also delicious. My husband always enjoys the steak here and I like to order the salmon plate. Both dishes came out great and as a special treat we had the butter cake a must try if you visit. Service was good and heaters were outside so you didn't feel the cold outside air until you left. Parking is a hit or miss. It's not a big parking lot but there is street parking in the neighborhood right next to it with a wall cut out to walk through.

The Eldo was pretty cool, I like the overall look, it has a very modern look and the food was pretty tasty as well. There were about 9 of us for a Birthday dinner; the servers were on top of the service and making sure our orders were in. The only thing that I did not like is that I could not do a substitution for the peas that came on the side of the shepherd's pie. I would give the shepherd's pie a (8/10) . It was very tasty. For my drink I ordered a French 57, which tasted somewhat like skittles, and I loved it. The Eldo would be good for a date night, groups a family dinner night, don't forget to go next door and get ice cream and cookies after.

The Eldo is a bar/pub with South African flavors and it's located off Studebaker and Spring in Long Beach, across the street from El Dorado Park. I came for happy hour on a weekday and they offered $2 off appetizers. I got sliders, veggie samosas, and a side of fries. I feel that the sliders tasted great. The buns were light and nicely buttered, they came with a "pink sauce", and the beef and caramelized onions nicely rounded out the burger. The samosas were my favorite item of the meal. It packed flavors that you don't normally get in an Indian-style samosa. Maybe because they serve the samosas with sweet chili sauce rather than chutneys; however, I would order it again. As for the fries, I felt that they were crispy; however, I felt as if it had an aftertaste that I didn't enjoy. If I get fried dishes, then I'd probably go with onion rings; however, I think that I'd like to try more of their South African offerings as they're unique!

Cheeseburger, French Fries and Chocolate Shake along with "Wooder"

Had my first visit with my mother the evening of Thursday the 5th of March 2026 for evening rations. This establishment has a South African theme and I saw both the USA and South African flags flown outside. This establishment is only open for evening rations and was very busy when I arrived and there was a wait for a table. We were called and seated. The waitress pointed us to a QR Code and I told her neither of us do QR codes so she brought us a tablet that had the menu. This establishment does NOT have paper menus. Apparently this establishment wants people to go digital which I GREATLY resent as I am an analogue guy and I do not want to go digital!!!!! This is the one and only reason why I am giving such a low grade. Men's washroom was clean and had paper towels available... good. I ordered the cheeseburger and shake combo deal. The burger was quite good as were the French Fries and the chocolate shake was excellent. My mother ordered the lamb and was very satisfied though she took most of it home. Normally I would automatically give the lowest score possible if a sit down restaurant lacks a written paper or laminated menu or if an establishment forces me to use a kiosk to place an order. However I requested a sample of Biltong and the waitress honoured that request. For this reason I am adding an additional point for a total of two points instead of the one point that I would have otherwise awarded. If a letter grade was assigned as is done in school, this establishment would get a D. NOTE: If this establishment had a paper or laminated menu available, I would have awarded four out of five possible points which would have equated to a letter grade of B. The reason I would not have given a perfect score is because I noticed that some of the guys who work at this establishment wore their shirts untucked which I consider to be highly unprofessional.

I ordered a turkey sandwich with cheese on sourdough bread with a side of fries, and my friend ordered the buffalo wings. When the sandwich came out, we both looked at it like, "Are they seriously serving this?" The sandwich was cold -- which was not mentioned on the menu -- and looked like something you'd pack in an elementary school lunchbox. At a bar, you'd at least expect the bread to be toasted, especially since it tasted old. The fries were overcooked, greasy, and room temperature. It seemed like they had been sitting out for a while before being served. I still ate about half because I was starving and didn't want to be "that person." The buffalo wings weren't much better. My friend said the sauce tasted good, but the wings themselves were hard and overcooked. Overall, I'd recommend eating before you go. The drinks, atmosphere, and service are solid -- just don't go expecting good food.

We just wanted to pop in for a drink and a light snack to kill time while awaiting for an appointment. The restaurant/bar location is quite nice and easy to find. It's in a massive strip mall off of Bellflower Blvd with loads of parking. The place itself isn't that big but a decent amount of seating. There's a decent size patio that looks out to the walkway and parking lot in the front. Inside, you have the bar area to the left and the restaurant on the opposite side. Main dining area is right across from bar as well as another dining area. We sat at the bar which Jen was working that afternoon and took very good care of us. Very friendly and welcoming which is alway an amazing start to anything. She was the only one behind the bar so juggling everything for everyone and still with a smile and positive attitude. We didn't want anything major so started off with a beer and a snack to share. Later found out that they also offer happy hours with food specials as well. Anyways, the menu is limited to a certain extended. We went with the loaded tots. Let me just say, it was loaded and massive. It was perfect for sharing and then some. A major pile of tots with melted cheese, green onions, loads of chunks of bacon and drizzled with ranch dressing. And another side of dressing on the side. Thats like was meal in itself. Quite tasty to say and the chef behind the grill was very sweet as well. Bar area has seats that look out to the bar as well as the kitchen grill. A few seats offers that. It was a sweet little chat with the chef whom mentioned happy hour. The last time I was here we did order a good amount of snacks for sharing which was great. From this experience as well as the last, it was great. The staff were all amazing and friendly. Food was great. Somewhat of a bar snack from what we ordered but a few main entrees that were coming out did look quite tasty. Plus portions were pretty massive. And Jen, a sweetheart and doll. Which made sense considering how well he knew how the drinks were made. He was attentive and checked on us often to make sure everything was going well. One thing that made him stand out was, he actually conversed with us rather than just asking if we needed anything and then leaving. The Old Fashioned was one of the smoothest and best I've probably ever had. My nephew ordered the Ube Painkiller after Nate described how it was made. I had a sip, and the ube flavor really came through without overpowering the drink and it was perfectly matched with the dark rum, which Nate said came from the Caribbean. The Brussels sprouts had a nice mix of tender and crispy pieces that gave additional texture. The calamari was tender and the pesto style sauce paired real good with it. The Thai curry sea bass was flavorful, flaky, and had the right amount of spice. The cioppino had a rich shellfish flavor in the broth and I appreciated that the tomato base didn't have such an acidic taste. We also shared the tomahawk, which was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had a sprinkle of coarse salt that really brought out the flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. Food wise, an order of the poke wrap. Nice chunks of ahi with a scoop of rice, lettuce, avocado and wasabi sauce. It was good but a little messy. As it would be with all of the lettuce wraps. The steamed mussels which is a must. The broth was delicious and served with two nice thick slices of toasted bread. Decent size mussels cooked deliciously in the broth. A must try. Lastly the calamari which was tossed with jalapeños. Both deep fried and quite tasty. Nice crunch to it but not overly cooked. That was also served with two dipping sauce. Everything was delicious. Towards the end of the meal, Melinda noticed that a bug was in my wine which she was very sweet about and made sure to take care of it. The simple little gesture was greatly appreciative. I ordered off of the lunch specials choosing the buffalo chicken wrap and my side was a salad. The salad was fresh and I enjoyed how the veggies were chopped (it's the details for me). Everything was really delicious, but I would get the buffalo sauce on the side next time as it was a bit too spicy for me. Service was fast and friendly and they have lunch specials, daily specials and also happy hour in one awesome spot! It was Margarita Monday when I went so I enjoyed that. I would definitely come back and try more of their items.

Our mozzarella sticks finally arrived after a long wait, only to have no cheese inside them. We then waited another 30 minutes for a replacement order that never came. When we expressed our frustration about the excessive wait, the male bartender and the woman wearing the USA shirt did their best to make the situation better, and I appreciated their effort. What was most disappointing happened at the end. The waitress who had originally seated us actually mocked my friend when he said the wait time was ridiculous. She laughed and repeated the word "ridiculous" in a sarcastic way instead of addressing our concerns. It was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. It's disappointing when a loyal customer is treated that way. I had much higher expectations for this place, and I truly believe the situation could have been handled better!
