I came here with my family to celebrate my fathers birthday and I can say with full honesty that this place was amazing. I typically worry about going to mexican restaurants because they tend to be too americanized but, this place instantly blew us away. Most of what we ordered did not need any sauce since it was already nicely seasoned with a good amount of spice. I ordered the Tetela oaxaqueña which was stuffed with beans, queso oaxaca, and hierba santa. It was also accompanied by a small salad topped with a spicy sauce, and a piece of meat on the side. It was honestly the most delicious meal I've had and super filling! The ambience was also great! The restaurant is decorated really nicely, the staff is really nice, and they have a small stage for a band to play live at the restaurant. Again this place was amazing! Authentic taste! On our first visit, we enjoyed the chilaquiles, enchiladas verdes, chips and guacamole & the Oaxacan horchata which was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. Our server, Genaro, was incredibly attentive, friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. We loved it so much that we came back a second time. This visit, we tried the caldo de res (Genaro's recommendation), and it was absolutely delicious. I felt revived after every spoonful. We also ordered the trio chilaquiles with red, green, and mole sauces which was a great way to experience all the flavors. The real showstopper, though, was the café de olla. I've never had an Oaxaca taco but I love how this place does it! Their corn tortilla is so fresh and tastes like it's homemade. I tried their asada taco, which is topped with onions, cilantro, red and avocado salsa. I also tried their Shrimp Fajita, which comes with a side of rice, beans, and tortillas. This dish was served piping hot and was the star of the show! The shrimp was nice and plump and the sautéed veggies were so flavorful. Not to mention their decor--it's super festive with a stage for live performance. The restaurant is fairly spacious with two big screen TVs. The café de olla is one of the best I've ever had. Everything we ordered had authentic flavoring and textures. The empanadas with chorizo and papas were perfectly crunchy and delicious. The steak with the enfrijoladas was so tender and fresh. I love mole and am super particular but the mole negra blew my socks off. The mix of fajitas were very fresh as well. Service was good. The music from the kitchen definitely set the vibe that the cooks/chefs were the real deal. The only negative was there was no towels in the bathroom or seat covers. My friend & I came here yesterday for late lunch. It was our first time here. Place was pretty empty since it was an odd time so we got seated right away. Atmosphere was cute & festive. Service was nice & they provide comped chips if you ask for it but service is slow. My friend tried the caldo de pollo & I tried the chicken mole tacos. It was my first time trying mole & surprisingly, it wasn't as sweet & flavorful. The corn tortilla was fresh & tasted authentic. The chicken was tender too. I tried some of my friend's caldo de pollo & the broth tasted healthy & homemade. It was delicious & my friend enjoyed it as well. I just wish the temp of the broth was hot & not lukewarm. Before we left, I ordered chicken enchiladas to take home for my husband. He loved it. I also tried some of it & it was thumbs up. Finally had a chance to try Oaxaca Village in Artesia--and I'm so glad I did! I live nearby and have been curious about it for a while. Went with a group of friends and we had a great experience from start to finish. We ordered margaritas (so good!), Tlayuda, huarache nopal, flor de calabasa empanadas, guacamole, and my personal favorite--queso fundido. Everything was flavorful and fresh, but that queso fundido was next level! The atmosphere is casual and great for hanging out, and the staff was super friendly and attentive. Where has this gem been hiding all my life? We were greeted by Alan an extremely friendly host/waiter. When you enter, you literally feel like you're on vacation in some little Pueblo in Mexico. The atmosphere is friendly, inviting and relaxing. Their menu is plentiful and original recipes from Oaxaca. I asked Alan what plates they are known for at his restaurant, he recommended any mole plate and the Alambre. I ordered the mole tacos, and my husband ordered the Alambre plate, which consisted of three meats and Oaxaca cheese that stretches out like "an Alambre." Heard Oaxaca has the best mole so decided to give this spot a try. They have a whole section on mole & was excited to try the 3 different kinds they offer. Luckily there was an appetizer that let you try all 3 with fried tortilla chips. My favorite was the mole negro as it had the deepest and richest flavor. So I ordered their chicken enchilada with mole negro which came with rice and black beans on the side. It was delicious! I also tried their wet burrito with mole coloradito and goat barbacoa as the meat. It was also yummy. The mole coloradito had a more reddish brown hue and a spicier kick. I also tried their Oaxacan horchata which came with chopped pecans and passion fruit. Service was super friendly. The place is also festive! I love all the decor. I came in and ordered from the lunch special menu: chicken mole bowl $13. There's two options for mole, the regular one and a spicy one. The waiter was kind enough to bring a sample of the spicy one. Although I prefer spicy, I went with the regular mole because I intended to share with my toddler. Which I told the waiter. The spicy mole sample was tasty and had a minor kick. It wasn't overwhelming. However, my daughter tried the regular mole and that was spicy for her. I had to order a side of plain rice for her because the bowl had mole added to it already. Yes, I could've ordered the sauce on the side, but the point of dining here, was to try the food as it's intended to be served. Especially because I rarely have mole if ever. It's new for me. Overall, the chicken bowl was good. But I'm sure there are other dishes to choose from that better share this cuisine. I would not order it again. When I got the bill, I was a bit disappointed to be charged $4 for the side of rice. My intent was to share the bowl with my daughter but because it was spicy (which I was told it was not), I had to get her something. I get it, this is a business. As a business owner, sometimes you have to accommodate. Other than that, the waiter was kind. Ambiance is good. I live the decor and colors. I am open to dining here again. read more

This is a local gem and I will be returning. They humbly bring out a cool Toro and dance for the birthday person. Sparkly candle and all. Wanted to get a different regional Mexican food. It's my first time trying Oaxacan food and it's most certainly different from the usual: they are supposed to be known for their mole but I decided on trying a bit of everything: Empanadas were quite large and stuffed with distinctly Oaxacan spice, potatoes and chorizo- I would describe as smoky and more dried chile flavor than tomatoes, topped with streaks of sour cream and guacamole. The empanada itself was less like crispy dough and more of the masa used in tortillas of this region. The daily soup was tortilla soup with a lot of avocado and the stringy gooey cheese, I enjoyed it a lot. The Chile relleno was also generously topped with a mole type sauce : smoky and definitely more spicy than I expected, it was quite tasty. My son got the camaron ala plancha - that was even spicier than I expected. The pollo in Amarillo mole was tender , and a distinct more floral spice to it. The trio of memelas was topped with grilled beef and black beans. One very busy waiter manned the whole restaurant plus bar, another young man came out with the dishes. Went to the firing range this afternoon and was starving when I got done. Had to hit the closest place snd it was Oaxaca Village. A little hole in the wall but when you get inside nice atmosphere. I had Abuelita's Taco. Too big for me in one sitting but I took the rest home for breakfast tomorrow. It was delicious. They make their own tortillas and that makes the difference! I got the chorizo and eggs. I found the chorizo too salty and to be on the smaller side. Given the price I paid, I wouldn't get that again. My brother-in-law's tasajo and eggs was a much better option for someone with a good appetite. My wife's chilaquiles was also decent but nothing to rave about.
