I could sum up my experience in one word: Salty…read more Las Aves came highly recommended by some locals, so I placed a takeout order through their website last night for Americano ground beef tacos, no tomatoes, and added sides of chips, queso, crema, and 4 oz. rice. My order total was roughly $20 after taxes, tip, and a random $1 online ordering fee. Since I added so many sides, I decided to check on my order when I picked it up. The sides were correct, except I erroneously ordered queso fresco instead of queso blanco (womp), but the tacos were covered in tomatoes. They corrected it and made me fresh tacos in just a few minutes, which I appreciated. My first bite into the tacos tasted like pure salt. Unfortunately, they didn't get any better. They were also pretty greasy, and my stomach wasn't a huge fan by any means. I ordered them with hard shell tacos, which was an upcharge, and they tasted way overcooked. All told, I just didn't enjoy the dish. The chips were extra salty too. I heard the rice was good though. I'm probably being generous with a 3-star rating, but I'm hoping it was just a bad night for them. It does seem like this spot is hit or miss based on other reviews here. I wouldn't be opposed to trying them once more on a future trip to Jersey, maybe next time I'll do a sit-down dinner, as their dining space looked quite nice and they even had outdoor seating too.

I have to say, I'm a little disappointed because the first time I came here I really enjoyed it,…read morebut the second time was not so great. I don't know if they're frying things too long or their oil is just old but everything; chips, tacos, etc. came out oily and tasted off. I could only eat one of the birria tacos. Definitely feel like I'm going to get indigestion tonight . It's also clear that the guacamole is store bought. It has the lemony/lime preservative taste. It's such a shame because it's not hard to make homemade guacamole and I feel like if the ingredients here were just a bit fresher, it would go further. It was a really surprising time because the first time we came here, the food tasted fresh and great. I don't know if they just have someone else cooking tonight, but we couldn't finish our meals. $65.00 for that. Such a shame

Very delicious!…read more Service was strange or odd, but it was delicious food. I don't know why, when we walked in, it looked like the place was closed, because the tables were not set up, and didn't even look like it was open for business. It also took a really long time to wait for the food to be given to us. We ordered take-out from my friend's home, and had to drive all the way there to get it, had to deal with traffic, and got there kind of late, and it still wasn't ready. Other people also came in, got their food, and left. Just really strange. But, the food was still amazing!

The Real Deal: If you're in the mood for some authentic Mexican food, handmade tortillas and fresh,…read moresavory ingredients definitely show this restaurant some love. FYI: it's tucked away inside of a small shopping center. Be Careful: They serve complimentary tortilla chips and 4 different dipping sauces, which are all different levels of spicy (the red sauce being least spicy and the green the hottest). But the level of spice will sneak up on you, so try a little bit at a time because the kick will come with the after taste. These spices are hand-crafted and unlike any I've had at even some of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. Come Hungry: The portions are big so come hungry because it will be the last meal you'll need for the day. Feel Good Eating Here: The server we had was patient, kind and willing to explain what certain things were that we didn't understand on the menu. She made recommendations and advised us about the spice level of certain items. I took off one star because it was kind of cold in there. They had an ineffective space heater I guess to supplement the building heat but it wasn't sufficient. But all in all, I'd still recommend.

Well, everything has changed. I ordered the chicken fajitas with no peppers, only to be told that they coudn't accomodate that request. Apparently they don't cut their own onions & peppers anymore, it comes in as a mix. I'm sorry, but if someone orders no peppers, accomodate them. The fajitas came out not sizzling and stuck to the cast iron skillet. Chicken was lukewarm so it was sitting in the kitchen for a bit. The tortillas used to be in a basket wrapped in a napkin to keep them warm & soft. Not anymore. They came on the skillet with the lukewarm chicken & they were hard around the edges. More evidence of food just sitting around. I loved the chicken fajitas there, that place was what made me even like fajitas. Unfortunately, they have lost me as a customer. They've even changed the way the do the tortilla chips. I don't think they're homemade anymore. They taste like they were dumped out of a bag into a basket. I'm sure these decisions were made to save money. Well, in an attempt to save money, you have sacrificed the quality of the food. Horrible!!!!!

One…read morecould almost imagine Penns Grove as a bordertown, but as I drove down the street somehow I knew that the taco joint was the somewhat unattractive but yet mysteriously appealing building on the roadside. I never think of eloquence when I think of tacos but I think of home and care and smiles, which are elements that you'll find when you go into Atliano's for the very first time because you have essential come back again. The specials on the board were great. prices for high volumes of tacos for the special day and the very simple dining area was 2/3 empty one we arrived. The menu has seen its day but that doesn't matter it offered a lot of great selections. The waitress who is handling all the business came by to tell us that the mole is really really good. So after a perusal of the menu, flipping lots of coins, we both decided to go for the mole enchiladas. She took our order back with the kitchen after commenting 'good choice.' She came back to us with a solemn face and said they were out of the mole. Zip zap ole no mole ... grrr ... apparently they've been very busy all day and that's one of the favorites. Cinco de Mayo busy!! Now you have to remember this is not a chain where they mass produce and freeze food. This is a place where they do their best to be authentic and that means from time to time in this off the beaten path town, they're not going to have everything. Still that cost them a star after I learned my second choice which included chorizo wasn't available because they also were out of chorizo. That was not going to defeat us. we were enjoying the chips with the refried beans with a really spicy flavorful red salsa and a tasty green. Our entrees were both excellent ... as the clock ticked it just seemed more and more comfortable being in this dining area... comfort and good food ... just like home. They were extremely busy with takeout, which excused a slight bit of inattentiveness because every time our waitress came back her smile was there and we felt special amidst a busy day. They don't offer liquor and I should have thought about that ahead of time. but neither of us are big drinkers. We remarked as we left. this was a good find, which means they'll find us back again. If you want some good Mexican food and comfort and an out of the way location this is the place to go to but the expressway isn't that far away. Just be prepared because they're small and locally operated that sometimes what you really want might not be available but something else that will. please your taste buds will be ready to be served to you.
