We literally ran through the menu. The ribs are great, so is the chopped bbq, and the BBQ loaded potato lives up to its name. Let me also mention the sides. The baked beans - not what you'd expect (in a good way). They're not sickeningly sweet and have a little zip to them (and good helping of smoked pork added). We weren't crazy about the yellow slaw, just not our thing. But it might be yours. Today we got takeout, but this place has a dining room that seats plenty of guests, has great views of the lake, and the service is really great - the young woman who took our order was as kind as could be. Bring cash (there's a charge for cards - seems to be more and more common these days). And, bring an empty stomach. I couldn't eat all of my ribs, so my son (who was born hollow) finished them off (as well as his sister's). The next time we come we will dine in - I'm looking forward to that. read more

Used to be regulars here. But the prices went up, and portion sizes went way smaller. Not enough to eat. You pay a lot, and leave hungry. Unless you want to fill up on fried hush puppies. Which I don't care for. We quit going here. read more

Horrible Customer Service!! I had the back room reserved for a party when booked they wrote my name down on the calendar for Monday the 26th. I sent out invitations to the party! Someone messaged me and confirmed the date with me because they thought they were closed on Mondays. I called this morning to confirm my reservation and the girl that answered the phone stated yes party for Emily on the 26th? I said yes and explained I was just confirming because someone questioned the invitation I sent out. The girl stated oh we are closed on Mondays let me speak with my manager. All I got was I'm sorry!! So now I have to figure out a place for a party and resend invitations!! Ridiculous! Lesson learned always check hours yourself because apparently the workers have no idea!! My family and I were in town after playing baseball at the local park and decided to sip by for lunch. We walked in and the waiters were very inform just pointing at our seat saying, "y'all can sit over there". Once we sat down we were approached by a young waitress with on of her AirPods in her ear to get our drink and food orders. After a short wait we were served the smallest portion sizes I've seen. 5$ for less than an oz of potato salad?! I took a bite into my bbq sandwich and it was mediocre at best. When we were paying our bill we approached the counter to Thai girls scrolling through tic tok, it took them a moment to even notice us. The overall feel of the restaurant though was pretty cozy, but that doesn't make up for any more of it. read more

I stopped and got the catfish fillet. Figured since they were fillets, it would small so I ordered the large portion with 5 fillets. Boy was I wrong, they brought out enough fish to feed two people. Where to start. We grew up eating Mud Creek and Bud's. I'm not sure what they have done to the meat but it's definitely different. The sauce.... The thicker sauce on the table needs to go in the garbage. My husband did say the only thing they haven't messed up was the fries. If you grew up like us you know the disappointment. read more

The ribs were meaty and tender but not exceptional - definitely the best in the Scottsboro area though. The ginormous sweet tea is very necessary to balance out the food coma. Cute place inside. The staff was extremely friendly. They brought out fresh hush puppies for free with the drinks. My husband loved the Brunswick stew. I had the loaded BBQ baked potato. Mine was ok. Potato was burned which I'm not sure how you do. I didn't complain and ate the inside. I would recommend this restaurant and I am pretty selective. read more

We have eaten at this restaurant for over 30 years and this was by far one of our worst experiences ever anywhere. We waited for over 45 minutes to get our order and then found out what took so long was that part of it wasn't done. They started over so all our food would come out together. Now when we finally got the meal the chicken fingers were too touch to eat once piece of white fish was missing from the large whitefish plate and the baked potato was missing on the steak plate. I have really enjoyed my food every time I've visited! I often got the blackened catfish (which had the perfect amount of heat) and a heaping helping of sides (usually okra, greens, or a potato). The sweet tea was always spot on... as it should be! We usually got our food quickly and the portions were always large. It's a bit out of the way to get to, but Mud Creek is well worth the drive for some delicious southern seafood. read more

Eh, it was ok but not as good as a couple locals suggested. I (messed up and) chose the grilled whitefish with a light portion of the cajun seasoning. The whitefish was mushy and it basically tasted like boiled shrimp that had been sitting in water too long. The baked potato was good and properly cooked. The hush puppies were doughy. They needed another 30 seconds in the fryer. Our waitress was hit & miss. She was good, but kinda disappeared after a while and had to flag down another waitress to get dessert. Our original waitress brought the dessert back out as well as the bill. This was Friday and there was a big pro-fishing tour get-together in the back room so the wait staff may have been overwhelmed. She was working hard but was probably just really busy. Food took a long time to arrive and my fish seems to have been sitting a while before it was brought out. It was lukewarm. Other people in my party got shrimp and catfish. They enjoyed their meal more than I did. We all got pecan pie, heated with ice cream for dessert. It was really good. I'll go back when I'm back in that area again, but will try bbq or catfish next time. If you have seafood allergies (one in our party did), they told us they didn't cook the catfish in the seafood oil. The catfish and seafood are cooked in mutually exclusive pots. Dinner for 4 adults and 3 desserts was about $57 plus tip. read more

Really don't know how to say how good this lunch was. We were camping at Cloudland state park a mad a day trip to the Unclaimed Baggage Store in Scottsboro, AL and need lunch so I looked up places to eat and Mud Creek BBQ came up. What a great choice the reviews were all good and everyone commented on the Hushpuppies so I had to go and glad that we did. I had the catfish whole but I would recommend the filets to look better but all that the some amazing. We also ordered the Rib Plate and the Pork plate and it was all great. My sister recommended this place to us for a couple of years so we decided to go with her on a Friday night. When we walked in, every eye in the room turned to look at us. It is off the beaten path so it appears they are use to the same people and not new customers. Even though it was Friday evening, it was not hard to get seated. Our waitress came over immediately and ask for our drink order and if we had any questions. I ask he a question and she acted like she was disgusted with my question. We got our drinks and I made another mistake by asking another question. Wow the waitress did not like that. The food was hot and it was delicious. My sister had the catfish and we had the white fish. It was some of the best fish I ever had in my life. We had to flag the waitress down to get desert and ask for boxes.
