We moved from Rainsville about 5 years ago. Topher's was our go to restaurant. They always had large portions, friendly staff and great service. Well, this evening we were in the area and decided to try our old fav. Ther may have been 3 other tables seated when we arrived. After 40 minutes I asked the waitress to check on our order. She said she would but they were extremely busy. When the food came the wings were smaller than the end of a fork. I mentioned this to the waitress immediately. She laughed and said we got a different wing order. I voiced my displeasure at checkout and the owner said she knew the wings weren't right but they were supposed to have given extra. Did you count em she asked, I said yes you can go count the bones yourself. She gave me a $2 discount and said they would be better next time. I said there won't be a next time. I was disappointed with my experience. The young servers were rude, and when I got home I realized I had been charged for two catfish fillets but only received one. To their credit, they offered to cook the missing fillet when I called, but I live 20 minutes away, so making another trip wasn't convenient. I should have checked the bag before leaving, but it was tied shut and I didn't think to open it. Overall, I was disappointed with the service and the inconvenience. read more

I have eaten at Tophers wings multiple times. Tonight was 15 minutes before someone came to the table and an hr and 15 before order showed up. Which was cold. Will drive further to Woodys which has an amazing burger and service. read more

Our 3rd time here and the same zero sense of urgency. Unusual long waits for food, meanwhile the cooks are just hanging out in the back, when food does come up, it sits in pick up window...The food is pretty okay, unfortunately the service could improve. It's just amazing! The wings are great! The prices are acceptable and the wings, oh my the wings are just amazing! Last night I got the hellfire 5 wings and I cried it was so spicy but it was so good! If you like spicy I would recommend hellfire, with a side of ranch if you like it. The service could be better, but I understand, last night the service could've been better but the meal was acceptable and my friend got a burger and it was amazing she let me try some of it and I loved it! But the wings were amazing. If you like non spicy foods, you should get wings mild it's not spicy or not cold they're good. The ambiance is great! The wings were pretty dry definitely needed more sauce, and the fries were soggy. The wings had a lot of meat but needed more flavor.

What a great place to eat. The bbq Jamaican jerk wings are to die for. My fave! The crisp fresh salad bar is so very welcomed considering I don't know of any other salad bars nearby. The potato salad is out of this world fantastic. The homemade coconut cream pie is OMG good! Best I've ever had. To top off everything, the family who owns it, are absolutely wonderful people. I always look forward to seeing their friendly faces and saying hello. A 5 star rating doesn't do it justice. It deserves way more!! read more

I usually skip the three star places, but a employee recommended Topher's. The dining scene in Scottsboro is bleak to say the least so I decided to check it out. When we drove up the parking lot was nearly full. Always an excellent sign. We walked in and were told to seat ourselves. We did. The waiter filled our drink order and gave us our menus. He promptly took our order then we waited. I ordered ten wings with half the hot wings, and half the Korean bbq. As my side I ordered the chips with cheese and bacon. This isn't fast food folks. It took a little bit. The wings were very good. Both flavors were very well done. The chips were a good side. I will go back. It was a good meal with good service. It's worth the stop and a little wait. Try it. read more

Stay away from the Screamer wings, the sauce taste like it's store brand Buffalo. The Mango habanero was even worse, even Domino's pizza has a better mango habanero sauce. They also charge a service fee on cards without telling you (separate from tip). read more

I've eaten at Topher's several times since moving back to Sand Mountain, and the food is consistently pretty good, but rarely is it "great." They also have one of the cleanest and freshest salad bars in the area. The service, on the other hand, leaves a great deal to be desired. It's not "fast food," so be prepared to wait - often a LONG time - especially if they're busy. The only server that has ever been on the ball is a young man who I suspect might be the owners' son. The girls who work there all act like customers are an inconvenience rather than the reason they have a job. Bottom line: Go for the food in spite of the usually poor service if you want a good burger, deliciously topped nachos, or tasty wings. read more

I've driven past this place several times and today I finally stopped! I'm glad I did. The wings were good. They not only have the traditional fried wings they also have smoked wings and a variety of flavors! I tried a combo/ 5 smoked / 5 fried/ I had garlic butter sauce on smoked wings and a traditional buffalo (hot). The Hot was very mild for my tastes I would definitely kick it up a few notches before I order next time. The smoked wings minus the buttery garlic were the highlight of the meal! They had good blue cheese dressing as well! The interior was a lot cooler than you would expect based on the medal a frame exterior. The only negatives would I was given a wing with broken bones... It was obvious the bones were broken as the bones are protuding out of the flat...... Its gross and inedible and you shouldn't serve it. Secondly the 80's hair cashier was quite rude and matter of fact when she couldn't figure out how to operate the credit card processor. I politely asked her not to destroy my card with her over the top dramatic attempts to run my credit card which was not well received...... It's a relatively new card that noone else has a problem with... Likely cheap/ and or old antiquated equipment... All in all the smoked wings are worth a stop if you find yourself in Rainsville....... read more

According to the sign outside, it is now called Topher's Wings. The atmosphere, cleanliness, and food was fine. The staff however was not. I came in with a large group. Our waitress appeared to be the waiter or waitress working, so it is understandable that waiting on us on top of a couple of other tables is challenging. She did not rise to the challenge the slightest. Someone at my table ordered an appetizer. Once it was brought out to her, our waitress asked how many utensils we would need. Instead of trying to coordinate a large group, why would you not just bring utensils with you to the table for each individual like most other restaurants do. They do it that way for a reason. She seemed to lack common sense. Also, if she intended us to split the appetizer like most do, she never brought out plates so that we could. She made herself unavailable to us so that we could never ask for small plates or refills. We had to get up and get them ourselves, which is completely fine until she got an attitude with us for doing it. We never received an apology, and she did not check on us once after delivering the food even after seeing several of us at the table get our own refills. That should have been a clue to check on our table. In summary, all was good except the service. read more

We stopped here for dinner earlier this week as it was right next to our hotel. We were promptly greeted and told we could sit anywhere. We ordered chips as an appetizer and they came out hot and crispy. A few were very slightly under cooked (for a chip) but I actually like them that way so yum! I had their smoked chicken special with potato salad, baked beans and a roll. It was 1/2 chicken along with sides. Everything was good and flavorful. In lieu of desert, we had mozzarella sticks and they were good too. The waitress we had was very friendly and quick to refill our drinks. My two children and I dined-in today. Nice atmosphere and very clean. We ordered 30 wings and an appetizer. We didn't receive plates for the appetizers. We ate the appetizer and then the food came and it was delicious. However, after our food came out, our waitress did not return to our table for 35 minutes! She walked past our table 7 x's and never checked up. When she finally came to the table she asked "Are you okay?" and had that deer in headlights look. She did not ask if we needed anything else. I simply told her no, we need to go drinks and a box for our leftovers. We boxed our wings and went to the register where we waited approximately 5 minutes to checkout for our $40 meal experience and then the girl that was checking us out suddenly had to go wait on a table instead of checking us out. The girl that waited on us checked us out. All in all the food was good but the service was lacking on many different levels. Very dissatisfied in our visit today.
