I always eat breakfast (and usually at some point lunch or a light dinner) at Mud St. when I'm in Eureka Springs. They have my very favorite chai steamer, a whole pot of delicious tea and steamed milk. The muffins are always delicious. Great sandwiches for lunch. Fantastic desert selection. Love the atmosphere as well - very cozy. The service can get a little slow when the place is packed, but the staff are always great about letting you know things might take time and being very helpful and friendly. read more

Best gee-dee cup of coffee I've ever had in my life ... literally. I drank their Nicaraguan blend until it gave me heartburn. Had fried eggs, home fries, ham, and a blueberry waffle and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The vibe is super chill and inviting. Our table had old Trivial Pursuit cards, which was a lot of fun and a great way to spark conversation, but they really need to update their decks; a lot of the sports questions - especially those dealing with records - are no longer valid. Came here with my girlfriend for breakfast, and had the absolute best hash browns ever! The coffee station was generous and offered a kind variety. I asked about slices of their house-made pies, which looked amazing on other customers' plates, but they were pricey--so we opted for a blueberry pancake that was unexpectedly large! Ehhhhh. We came here because the reviews were good, but it was lackluster. Overpriced in my opinion, especially for breakfast food. My omelette was slightly burnt and very oily. The pancakes were super dry... I think my bisquick at home makes better pancakes. The atmosphere is like a drive bar, and it's in the basement of a building in downtown. Fun little cafe with nice atmosphere. They are open for breakfast and lunch but we've only eaten there for breakfast. The grits are excellent, fried and cheesy. The pancakes are also excellent but be sure to get there early before they're all gone. Wait staff are very friendly & prompt. If you're visiting, they are typically closed Tuesday & Wednesdays. They also close for a few weeks during the off season so plan accordingly. read more

Gosh I wish I could like this place. I've been there twice in 3 years and it's just over rated, over talked about and simply not worth your time. The first time we came it was for breakfast. It seems it's recommended because it's one of the few breakfast options. (We went to "Nibbles" yesterday and it's light years better.) This by the way is my fourth long weekend in Eureka Springs so we pretty much know the historic district. Today we opted for lunch (to be fair we walked into town too late for breakfast so had no choice). We ordered the grilled cheese served w/breakfast potatoes and the quiche of the day (vegetable) with salad. To avoid another bad drip coffee experience from the local restaurants, we opted for americanos but it made no difference. Coffee here is just not good. Mine was served with someone else's lipstick on the cup. Not a good start. I don't really want to waste my time on this place but I think they are trying too hard. Putting mushrooms and spinach in a grilled cheese sandwich just turns it soggy on the bottom. The quiche was also trying too hard. The crust was hard and chewy and the quiche had fallen apart because there were so many soggy vegetables that the egg couldn't bind them together. It was just a soggy Vegetable mess. When it comes to a good quiche, less is more. It was pretty tasteless too. Utter disappointment when the best thing about the meal was the bread roll. The salad bits were fresh but the balsamic dressing again a letdown. It's certainly not what I know to be balsamic. I'm writing this review to remind me next time not to go there. I love food. I love trying places. I have no problem giving an establishment another chance. I just don't want to spend any more money or time here. Terribly disappointing. read more

When I think of Eureka, this is the place I think of first. It is homey and friendly and below ground, and if starts your day off well. I have had lunch here once and breakfast twice, and each time it was my first meal of the day. Each time there was a good vibe (think hippie time warp mixed with Ozark country) and the service staff were relaxed and friendly. The food is delicious and unpretentious. Today I had the Mud Street Breakfast, what I would call a "farmhouse breakfast"in Oklahoma, with scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast, and a side of their every-so-perfect spicy cheese grits. Their coffee is served at a self-serve bar unless you need something really special and I had some fresh brewed Sumatra that makes my home brew of the same pale by comparison. Their omelettes are consistently good as are their sandwiches, but the attention is on the whole experience there. It's like your in a relative's living room (albeit a really crowded living room, depending on whether you miss the breakfast or lunch crowd). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the carpet is getting a little old and seems to be holding some food smells in it too long (it's not horrible, just noticeable at first)- again, just like a relative's comfy living room. You won't notice after a few minutes relaxing in there with a good cup of coffee and conversation. read more

Came here with fam after hearing this place was underground thought it would be cool had a good amount of stars! I've learned not to believe the stars!!! So disappointed!! First we had 3 different people come to our table no one introduced themselves as our server...it seemed disorganized. Finally someone got us drinks but didn't take our order and just left us sitting there 15 minutes...finally got our order in, it took about 20-25 minutes for 2 sandwiches and a salad REALLY! The food was crap! I ordered the French dip, menu said 6oz plus of best prime rib piled high...NOT! 3-4 oz maybe...same with the hubs sandwich he got the deli prim rib with sourdough it was 2 slices of wonder bread white bread not sourdough! Basic and bland for the premium price! Chips were stale too! Our son got the Caesar salad, the Caesar dressing was nasty as heck and there was no romain lettuce just spinach and some spring mix...who the hell puts mushrooms, raw red onions, and cucumbers in a Caesar salad??? Hardly any chicken NO croutons...Rethink the name of this salad because it's FAR from Caesar! Wanted to try their pie but after that experience forget it! Mudstreet is a staple for my husband and I each time we visit Eureka Springs. The staff is always so friendly and their food has never disappointed. We were tourists visiting the area and decided to try this place due to its good reviews. There was a long line due to it being a busy place to eat on Main Street. We were sat fairly quickly though but there was a little wait for our food due to the volume of people. I ate the breakfast burrito which was delicious. Their salsa is one of the best parts and really topped it off. My husband had the chef scramble. He was expecting more of a skillet hash type but it is more like an open faced omelet. It was still good but he did like my breakfast burrito better. The prices, in my opinion, were a little high for the amount of food you get. Mine was around ten dollars for just a burrito no toast or sides or anything. Lastly, they have free coffee. Two thumbs up. read more

This is where we realized that Eureka Springs is an old hippie town :) The staff's shirts read "medicated for your protection" or something along those lines and it was hilarious. It's like getting home cooking at grandma's/your friend's parent's basement in the 70s... or something. We showed up right as breakfast was ending and they were nice enough to let us get an order in before the kitchen switched over for lunch. Really good loaded hash browns (that were more like breakfast potatoes). They also the world's biggest cinnamon rolls and muffins, but we didn't see those until we were checking out. I took a day trip the Eureka Springs and stopped here for Brunch! Brunch is my favorite meal and Mud Street Cafe, far exceeded my expectations. The restaurant has a lot of character, the food is flavorful, and the service gets 4 stars as well :) This was my first impression of the quirky little town and I was impressed.
