I stopped in to Muddy Cow hungry and was not disappointed. My amazing server Erin got me set up with the pub grinder sandwich and some fries which were both great. The sandwich was like a hamburger mixed with a pizza mixed with a chopped cheese and it was very tasty. The vibes were immaculate. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There was lots of parking along the street just outside. Inside, we found the main room spacious and uncrowded. There were TVs tuned to different sports, but the noise level was fine. Service was good throughout our meal. My husband and I took advantage of the buy 1 get 2 drink special, as he had a Castle Danger beer and I had a black cherry cider. Our son had a Coke. For our appetizer, we had the traditional cheese curds. They were tasty, nicely hot, and there was a good amount. The hot honey side wasn't overly spicy, but it was so runny that it barely left flavor as a dip. A thicker creamed honey would probably work better. My husband had a burger and my son had the macaroni and cheese. They both really enjoyed their meals. I ordered the strawberry chicken salad, which I've gotten before at the Cottage Grove location, but this was not the same salad at all. It was entirely on iceberg lettuce and it had barely any toppings and almost no dressing. The picture I've attached shows what it looked like when it was set down in front of me. It was bland to the eyes and bland to the taste buds. When I got home, I looked up my past online review of the Muddy Cow in Cottage Grove (June 2023) and the difference was even starker: that past salad had bright green, crisp lettuce and loads of toppings. The chicken breast was even browned, while this Hutchinson take had white meat that pretty much blends in with the iceberg lettuce. What happened to the menu!?! I used to love this place and the flamin' blueberry hamburger is gone along with a vast majority of the food items. No longer anything unique by way of food items and nothing to draw me to choose this new MC over other bar/grill food locations in town. I am sad that the remodel has also led to what seems like less seating, but also the loss of opportunities for live entertainment ... also one of the things that would draw me there. read more

A group of us stopped in today (4/18/26) after a volleyball tournament for a late lunch. Service was slow but we understood since we were a little bit of larger group. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks. Never got refills. Food came out in shifts which was fine but by the time everyone was done eating my family's food still wasn't out. I asked the waitress if it was coming and after checking with the kitchen we were told it was already brought out. Ended up paying for our drinks and leaving after 2.5 hours and no food. read more

I really enjoyed my Paul Bunyan burger so much so I forgot to take photos. There is lots of parking out front. The popcorn machine was filled with cheese balls which was cool and unique. I loved that I was able to get cheese curds instead of fries for an up charge. Service was a little slow but in their defense we were talking so they may not have wanted to interrupt. Overall this place was OK. The burgers were subpar at best. I asked for no pink and fully cooked. My burger as pictured clearly wasn't fully cooked the way I asked. I ate it in full and it was alright but not what I asked for. The cheese curds were really great except a tiny cup of marinara is $1. Most sauce extras are .25-.50. The wings were amazing though! I will come back, but just for wings. I had half maple bacon sauce and half blackberry BBQ. The server barely came to our table and even said sorry for neglecting your table I was seating a 10 top. Get the bacon curd burger, you won't regret it! Crispy cheese curd patty with bacon and an amazing garlic aioli. (chef's kiss) Grab a side of waffle fries and seasoned sour cream and your meal is complete. Honestly, we have ate here several times, and their burgers are always great. My husband loves the vinaigrette they put on the side salad he frequently orders, cause ya know, big fancy burger needs a side salad with it...moderation, I guess. The two for one drinks aren't really a steal since they cost more for one than other places charge, but we rarely order alcohol so it doesn't matter much to us. Compliments on your fine establishment! I attended a wedding at the Crow River Winery on June 15, 2024, and my vehicle's brakes died at the hotel (thank goodness THERE). Could not get a tow home because of the torrential rains at Winsted's Winstock; those poor people were being towed by every farmers' tractor and every tow truck in 100 mile radius! Anyway, I walked from the hotel to Muddy Cow, and enjoyed a delicious Hazy Ale or 3, and the to-go food of 1/2 price wings were big and delicious! The prime rib sandwich was tender; the french fries nice and plump. The bartender, a nice gal to all her customers, gave me the digits for her friend who drove cab; thanks, dear! I live 100 miles away in Wisconsin, but I hope to visit Muddy Cow again. The whole town of Hutchinson is friendly; what a nice community. I wish Muddy Cow continued success. read more

Mr. Incredible here - tonight I took my family to the Muddy Cow @ Hutchinson, MN ....... Be advised that if you happen to initially see a picture here on yelp of their specials (one that lists Saturday as steak and shrimp for $11.99) that the photo posted is outdated and those deals are no longer‼ Apparently the management of this fine eatery has been trying to get yelp to take down that particular image for quite some time to no avail. The only reason I'm unable to give the Muddy Cow 5 stars is because of this error on yelp simply because of the expectations that this site had us believing were real. Apart from that everything else about our dining experience was fantastic‼ Good, tasty food with unique and delicious options‼ In my humble opinion their price points are a touch on the high side - but that's just because I'm not accustomed to potentially paying in $15 range for appetizers. Not when that's the same price you are going to be paying for a burger and fries from them, lol‼ All in all it was a great meal with pleasant atmosphere and offered an opportunity for my family to have an enjoyable evening while visiting from out of state. Our bill for 3 adults and 2 kids came to just under $60 which is comparable to what we would have spent at an average self service buffet place ....... We flagged the waitress down to ask when our order would come out. She said soon. After another 15 minutes the food came out. No apologies or explanations. The food was decent but not worth the wait! We had a party of four people, on Monday afternoon, March 24th and the restaurant was mainly empty. One of the members of our party was disabled and had a walker. When we asked if there was a handicapped accessible entrance, the server or manager Mason replied, "that wouldn't make much sense, would it." and then he actually asked her, "what is wrong with you?" He was rude from the moment we walked in. Even though there was only a handful of people in the entire restaurant, I think we waited over 10 minutes just for him to take our order. When a member in our party asked for unsalted fries for her mom because they were too salty, he literally said to her that she was "being aggressive" and "treated him badly." She originally asked that the fries be not so salty but they were still covered in salt. In spite of that, I still gave him a $5 tip just for my bill, which he actually returned. I've NEVER encountered such horrifically rude service. It was shocking. read more

Great place overall. Love the atmosphere, burgers, beer. They need to step up their wing game. Came here twice and they were very chewy and flavorless besides the sauce or dry rub. First of all the waitress was great. We received our food as requested even with special instructions. They did not deliver my appetizer until I let them know I had ordered it. But to my surprise they made it right and removed it from the bill. So many places do not do that and just expect you to go along with it. I have been to the one in Litchfield many times but have only been to the one in Hutchinson twice. Even thought they both have the same menu the one in hutch is better. I have had the philly cheese steak in both locations and the one in hutch is better. The meat seems better and the sauce it comes with his hotter and spreads better. The two'fers drinks are unexpected and great to have! Service was quick and correct, new the menus and asked questions for a better experience. Not from Hutchinson, just in for business, stopped 3 times different people but the service and food consistent! As a traveler do recommend frequent this establishment. The portions of the food for the price where well worth it but if you wanted to be rushed it's the place to be. Your drink will be taken away even if you just step away from the table for a second even just to throw darts that's right next to your table.
