Simple pub fare, but good portions and good tasting. Beer is ice cold, and frequent live music. A local favourite!

Washroom and indoor and outdoor dining available. Service 4.5/5 Went on a Sunday afternoon. It was very busy as I went out with a car group. Around 130-150 more diners than the usual. Their team was able to handle all the orders within 10-15 min of wait after ordering food. The burgers are made fresh to order and theres a wide selection of free toppings. Washrooms and overall interior was very clean and well maintained. Food 4/5 Ordered a cheese burger and another burger with double patty. The price range is market price for gourmet burgers (around 9-12$ a burger + few dollars extra for combo that has side and drink). Ordered frings as well since I wanted to try both the fried and onion rings. The battery on the onion rings was soft, but not too much bread, a little more crisp would've been nice. The fries were seasoned and not too soggy.

It's just that the burger is a frozen, pre-fab patty and even at that, it's really average. The whole burger is elevated by the qualities above, but it can only do so much. And there's other frozen burgers that taste better than this one. On my second trip, I was in for breakfast and the sausage and egg sandwich was good too, but again, held back by a frozen item (egg) that would've been better if it were made from fresh. All that said, it's still fairly good AND their fries and poutine are very good. It's still a good option for a stop, but I wouldn't make it a place I'd go out of my way for either.

It knows what it is, with a menu consisting primarily of burgers & wings, limited sandwich options, a few pasta dishes, and some salads. Yes, it's licensed to serve adult beverages. We came for the burgers and this turned out to be the right choice, specifically the Banquet Burger is one of the best I've had in recent memory. The patty itself is hand formed from fresh beef and cooked to perfection i.e., fully cooked yet very juicy. Make sure you use a napkin and take your bit over your plate. (Our server wisely brought us extra napkins.) The back bacon accompanying the beef patty was well prepared and decent sized also, a very nice Banquet Burger indeed. I also loved the crisp pickle and very much enjoyed the fries. An interesting aside. One of the condiments on the table was "Max & Marcus" prepared mustard. It's labelled "Montreal Deli Style". I didn't need it for my meal but was intrigued as a departure from the usual "French's" or even generic. I had to taste it and determined that it is indeed "premium" as claimed and would absolutely choose it over the usual suspects. Cheeks is very close to a busy corner yet there is a free parking lot very close by. It was April when we were there so the Patio was not yet in service however we got a very nice table near the window. Service was cheerful, quick, and attentive. The place didn't seem especially large yet I'd definitely be back particularly as it's not far from the baseball fields at which we occasionally have a game.

A couple Saturdays ago, I was running a few errands. Once I was done, I felt like visiting a diner for lunch. I did a search and found Poached Dreams Diner in Aurora. I didn't mind driving up from Markham to check it out. It was straightforward getting here. I parked in the parking lot and walked in from what looked like the back of the diner. There's also a front door with a patio that faces Wellington Street East. I was immediately greeted by a young, enthusiast woman. I let her know that I needed a table for one. She got me to a comfortable booth by the window. The catch is that you have to watch your step to get to your seat. It's a treat when I have breakfast out. I thought that I'd be getting french toast. Well, all that changed when I saw a heading for comfort foods on the menu. Nothing makes me happier than seeing open-faced sandwiches on a menu. It was probably during my days living in Winnipeg that I fell in love with such sandwiches and at least a side. New goal: come here and have every open-faced sandwich on the menu. I got cold water to start. It was refreshing and much needed after running errands. I ordered these items for my meal: - Diet Coke (2) - Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies My Diet Coke came with a glass with ice. I loved it. I wish the can was larger! I needed a second can for dessert. I loved my hot turkey sandwich. There was a generous amount of sliced turkey smothered in sauce over a slice of white bread. I got to choose my starch. I went with mashed potatoes. There was enough gravy over the turkey that I dunked my spoonfuls of mashed potatoes into it. I loved the steamed veggies. They were perfectly cooked. They also went into the gravy. The meal was delicious. I'd order it again. I felt like dessert. I asked if there was any. Baklava with pistachios. I said yes. I thought that it would be a square or rectangle. Nope. I got a roll. Cool! It was perfect. It had the right amount of honey. It was crispy and yummy. So good! I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and then tapped my credit card. I elected to have the receipt texted to my phone, which also signed me up for its points program. Yay! I learned that this diner has been open since June 2025. I'm always late to any party because I seem to live under a rock or in a cave. I'm glad that I visited this eatery. Great food. Great service. Great! I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom was clean and had a full-length mirror. This eatery is huge. It looks like there's a cafe for those grabbing coffee and maybe a snack before leaving. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks. (148)

Upon entering, the space is super spacious and clean. My friend ordered their 2 egg special with bacon, and I ordered their soup and sandwich combo ($12/13). I decided to go with their tuna salad and chicken noodle soup. Upon recommendation from our server, I also ordered their cappuccino- it was very delicious. Amazing food and great service, I would like to come back and try some of their dinners dishes.

On a more recent occasion, I ordered a variety of pastries and the eclairs shell tasted the same, as if it was stored in the freezer for a while and they just add fresh filling when it's time to sell. The whip cream filling wasn't tasty. Disappointing. The sfoglia pastry was large, delicious and fresh. The lemon squares were tiny, fresh and tasty. The price for the size was ridiculous though. The cannoli's still taste delicious, this is the only thing I've had from here that's been consistent in quality over the years.

New review coming your way on Spring Basil, also in Alliston. We stopped by after our car was done. W O W!!! The place is very small but has delish baked goods , fresh home-baked breads (the butter tarts are literally to die for!) and a hot deli counter. As we waited in line, I watched with happy amazement how Rose (a.k.a. #8 in the line of Rocco's sisters) was the main entertainment with her vivacious, exhuberant, down-to-earth personality. She treated everyone, including us (a gay married couple) like we were the most beautiful people in the world. When it was our turn, my partner told Rose to go ahead and make whatever sandwich was her own personal favourite. Rose was so touched by this and was in her glory as she stuck a few pieces of fresh roasted porchetta in our hands to try so that was what she made us. The porchetta sandwiches are unbelievable. Rose added some of their own sauteed chipollini onions, home-made peppers and home-cooked marinara sauce to the sandwiches...amazing. What an eating experience! Thanks Rose (and Stephanie)...we are happy to be a part of your "family" now.
