DAMN this food was good. Never enjoyed collard greens so much in my life. Cheese grits were spectacular. I'm not a sausage guy but I ate the whole thing. Chicken was incredibly tender. Seasoning was flavorful - spicy salty and sweet but not overpowering of any. Yes I will be back.

It's one of those iykyk kinda places, and btw, yk. The quintessential (a word not bandied about by most of the clientele - heck, even that term seems a stretch) local place. Lots of regulars providing the requisite color and good cheer - welcoming to a fault. Tonight's Tito Tuesday ($5), so lots of Moscow Mules going down. The burgers are well above average and medium rare if that's how you like to eat 'em - and I do. They'll even add that egg if you ask. Yelp! Insists I speak about the 'ambiance'. That's one of those fancy words like quintessential and clientele that I'll soon be forgetting after another a second MM. back to ambiance, it's got one. Come by when you're hungry. It doesn't disappoint.

This is the second time I've been to this restaurant in about two weeks. We came here on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy. Maybe there was three tables open. We started off with the chips and dip because my son had had it the last time he was here which was last weekend. The house chips were very delicious. I didn't catch my server's name, but she was short and had blonde hair and she was attentive. They were still serving brunch, but I decided to get a patty melt while my son got the big green pimp burger. This time we got the salted caramel cookie from cookie fix with some ice cream and brought it home and that was very delicious. The parking is a little tricky. It's a bit steep. They have a small bar area where it looked like there were several regulars there. There were several TVs in there to watch the different games that were on. The only thing I don't like is that there's no coke products they have Pepsi, which I really don't care for Pepsi other than that I think it's a really great place. Very casual.

It's been a long time since I had last eaten here and it is ever so popular! I got lucky to get a table as I walked in. The place is smaller than the demand so usually you'll find yourself waiting. Service was efficient, not super friendly, mostly acted rushed and in a hurry. I ordered the pecan crusted chicken salad. The lettuce was fresh, sliced crisp apples, and crunchy pecans on top. Yummy!

Incredibly juicy, hand crafted burgers. House made chips. Super friendly, helpful, and accurate service. Tables are super close together so had to hear a guy say ugly stuff about his wife to another guy. Decided they were never going to leave, so we packed up our food and left them to it. Anyway, maybe you will be seated next to an amazing story-teller and will want to stick around for the ending! You will be guaranteed to be able to hear every word. Nevertheless, we love this local spot. Even so. Go for the boss burgers and the service. But maybe avoid it if you want to confide your deepest secrets to your bestie.

Set at the on a busy Sunday. Had amazing service! Had a delicious $5 Bloody Mary. The sausage balls were a great starter. We had a yummy fried chicken wedge salad and breakfast tacos. Look forward for joining them for brunch again!

I'd completely forgotten this place existed until a recent Yelp search sent me back in the right direction. Wow! We've now been twice, and the food has been excellent. The green goddess dressing on the iceberg wedge is next level. It's my current favorite salad in town. The Alabama white bbq sauce grilled wings were tangy and sweet (and even better with a side of Cahaba hot sauce to dip them in). And the burgers...my goodness...obviously hand-patted, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and topped with all manner of deliciousness. The Burger of the Month for December was amazing. They have brunch on Sundays and $5 Bloody Marys and mimosas. Oh, and the staff was excellent! Our server was friendly and attentive. I look forward to next weekend returning for another amazing Sunday brunch/lunch!

As always our burgers were great. The fries are very good as well. They were very busy with church crowd, but we didn't have to wait too long. The seating is a little tight, but it's still a fun environment. I would recommend.

Local owned places are so unique and can be the best. This one was absolutely perfect. The ways the servers all were was perfect for real. They were all super nice and great servers. The food was amazingly delicious. This was a great place to sit and hang out with friends or even to sit and speak with another person beside you. Such a great great time here this evening.

We walked up the street with a half dozen other diners. Wooden City is definitely not in the best part of BHM. Walking to the restaurant was a little sketchy, no need for a detailed description. Although we had reservations, the hostess looked at us like we had three eyes. She found a small table for us in the far back of the restaurant. No problem, at least we were seated. Our server greeted us quickly and went over the menu. We ordered drinks, blistered Hungarian peppers and a sausage and mushroom pizza. We told him that we were going to a concert and were on a little bit of a tight schedule. By the time our server checked on our food, the second time, we went from a little bit tight to full "gotta get out of here" mode. I guess the delay in getting our food was to give the kitchen time to burn our pizza. Over half of the thick, chewy crust was inedible. The bottom of the pie didn't fare much better. The peppers, on the other hand, were amazing. (not so much so at 2 am but that's just me!) They are a do not miss. We were at least able to settle our bill quickly and made it to the concert with time to spare. Overall, would we go back? Only if in the area - those peppers were amazing. Still, I definitely would not make a special trip.

This is a spot with a heavy regular rotation. The people of Mountain Brook/Vestavia are here for dinner. It's a specific crowd. Service was great, the waitstaff is very friendly and on top of things. My dad ordered the "Magic City Manhattan" -- I'm not normally a dark liquor person, but I thought this was fantastic. I think it was the pecan liquor which made it so good. We split the muscles appetizer, which was great. The broth was so warm, garlicky, acidic, perfect. Love. And the bread that came with was great, too. If I'm being picky, the bread services' butter could've been more room-temp and easier to spread. But that's me being extremely picky. We ordered the lamb chop entree to split, too. Again, great. This is a fantastic spot if you're not looking to travel downtown for dinner. Easy menu, crowd pleasing. Definitely suited for an older crowd, which can be harder to find in the downtown spots.

My guest tonight is a healthy eater, so the menu was perfect. Lots of farm to table options, vegetarian options, as well as fresh fish and other great proteins. Everything was fresh, well prepared and delicious. Service is always wonderful. Seating is limited so make reservations as early as possible. Bar seating available first come first served. There's a number of off-menu items so be sure to ask your server! My only complaint is that best tables are held for the "regulars;" so I guess it's time to become a regular at Foodbar.

Chicken katsu is typically lightly breaded, however, this was heavily breaded and was not on par with what I had seen online for Cheesecake Factory. My order didn't really have any of the glaze and there were maybe all of 6 edamame beans. I will say the portion of mushrooms, rice and cucumbers were generous.
