Seems like that is the way to go if you're a summer local or are looking to do something time sensitive. The requirements for this are detailed on the website. If you're coming for the summer and don't mind the whole experience of taking a number, waiting in line, talking to East Coast locals, and taking in the sweet smells of the bakery...then enjoy the wait! The "Crumb Bun" or crumb cake as we call it, is what we also come here for because it's the "it" thing us West Coasters don't get on our side. What I noticed is they do individual pieces, a whole cake that serves 6-8, platters, with Bavarian cream, filled with slices of cinnamon apples, and a bag of "just the crumbs". We went with a whole crumb cake to take back to feed the family/guests, and a few decorated Sesame Street cookies. They have everything here though - from donuts/pastries, bagels/rolls/bread, fun cookies, cupcakes...you name it. They also have coffee! All in all get there close to opening, pre-order if needed, or just enjoy the crumb cake ride.

Based on the multiple raving reviews about their crumb cake I had to give it a try; sorry, not a fan. Cake was dry and crumbs tasted like compressed sugar drowning in I what I thought was powdered sugar. But it tasted weird, not like sugar. I guess I like more of a "cakey" crumb cake. Did not have the opportunity to try anything else here. Not worth the drive for me...comparable bakeries closer with a lot less traffic. read more

Mueller's is the best bakery in New Jersey! Always fresh and delicious! Their pastries are unbelievable AND they are now offering vegan and more gluten free options! Crumb Cake!!! Powdered was super the glazed was a little too sweet for me but when you walk into a place 15 minutes after it opens and you're number is 64 you know why its so famous. Bear Claw was soft and fresh and the girls behinf the counter take care of you quickly. read more

Delicious treats! Especially the powdered coffee cake (Or is it crumb cake?). One caveat, long line on summer weekend mornings. If you know you will need something, call a day ahead and they will have it ready for you then (Skip the line!). read more

The workers who helped me, Kendra and Emily, ended up wiping the "happy engagement " with a different butter cream and tried to tell me its the same. You can clearly see they see differnt shades in the photo. The manager only offered half off after they ruined my cake and made me wait an hour only to be given this awful mess.

I usually try to resolve issues before leaving a poor review and really thought I'd receive at least a response even if there was no resolution. I have to believe that if someone doesn't respond they obviously don't care. Therefore, after over 8 years I'm not going to patronize a business who is banking on the good reputation of a former owner to get by any longer. What a shame!
