i made an appointment at Muffler Express to get a shield installed over our Mazda CX5's catalytic converter. They gave me a quote and I waited while they worked on it. After a short while, the mechanic Pete asked me to come and look at the car now that it was up on the lift. He pointed out that the Mazda already had a metal shield covering the converter that appeared to be standard on this car. Pete indicated that there was really no need for another one. I thanked him and offered to pay for the analysis but he refused saying that he had worked here for 30 years and that was not how they do business. Although I had many referrals to come here, I did not feel that it was necessary to name drop to get a good price or good service. Tony managed to squeeze me in and be as timely as possible knowing that I had to drive my car in a couple hours to San Francisco. He's very sweet, reasonable, and you can tell he cares about his work. Could not be happier with the price and service that I received for my car. I had a terrible experience with Muffler Express. I brought a catalytic converter for my 2009 Chevy Impala. The part was defective. I had them send me out another part that was also defective for the same reason. They tried to blame my mechanic so I took the part to Chevy and they verified that it was indeed the part. I spend a total of $504.67 in my labor and a diagnostic fees that they wouldn't reimburse me for. The customer service rep didn't care at all. They stopped replying to my emails. The company Muffler Express sells poor and faulty parts and should be shutdown for good. read more

Stopped by Muffler Express on Tuesday afternoon to have the exhaust hanger(s) readjusted on my Subaru Forester. Muthafuckin Matt and Josh!! That's really all that needs to be said but I'm bout to say somethin else. These dudes right here are a different type of good. One of the most stressful days started for me with my cat converter bein stole from my Honda, right out of my driveway, on my wife's birthday. And with my wallet being a little skinny that day (all I had was birthday money and gas for the next Work Week), my stress levels weren't doing anything but going up with everybody around Sacramento talkin bout $400 to $485 for new cat converter. But let me tell ya, all it took was a phone call to that shop and a conversation with Matt and my stress levels dropped dramatically with his price quote. Not only did he hit me with the cheapest price, he got my shit on the lift immediately. Not did he get shit on the lift immediately, he waited for my slow ass to go get my own part (which he doesn't even do), and missed money dealin with me. Not only did he wait for my slow ass and missed bread, he hooked it all up at no extra cost! NO EXTRA COST! I even tried to give his partner Josh my last $30 dollars as some form of gratuity. Tony, you are an honest guy and run an honest business. Got a 2nd opinion from you on a bad Cat, which Pepboys wanted $2700 to replace. Tony said parts from the dealer are $1600 + $150 or so to install, all ready a huge savings right? Tony then stated that I check with CA emissions warranty & EPA, evidently CA and the FEDS warranty CATS up to 8years and 80,000 miles. I fell within this warranty and am getting the warranty work done FREE of charge through the dealer. You did not have to tell me anything at all, would of had you do the work anyway, but WOW. Tells me a lot about you and your business. You now have the respect of my entire office, and we'll bring any future work your way. Word of mouth goes a LONG way..... The catalytic converter started to rattle on our 250K mile 2002 Honda Odyssey. Although I'm fully capable of replacing it on my own, the dealer wanted over $700 for the part. I took it here and had an aftermarket one welded on instead for 1/3 the cost. I made sure they welded onto the original catalytic converter flanges so it can be unbolted if it ever needed to be replaced again in the future. The new converter also came with a long warranty. When i first arrived, they didn't have the part in stock but gave me a time to come back and assured me they would have it then. When I got back later in the day, they had the part and installed it in less than a 1/2 hour. Very satisfied with the whole process. read more
