This charming bakery also has vintage and new goods available for purchase. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. I met the owner and her daughter who were kind and shared their vision for the bakery. Mugs Cafe and Bakery was established in Roanoke in 1996 and is located in historic downtown Roanoke. They have coffee, tea, cookies and cake available. They also do custom cakes and offer decorating classes. The prices are inexpensive and I love the variety the offer. I tried their pumpkin/snickerdoodle cookie, lemon bar and peanut butter cookies. The cookies were crispy, chewy and delicious as was the lemon bar. I look forward to my next visit. read more

Amazing! My plans for a birthday cake ended up not working out and I needed a cake last minute! I called and was so relieved to find that this bakery could make a 6in cake exactly to the birthday girls specifications in less than 24 hours (mid December right before Christmas)! The cake was not only cute but most importantly, a 10/10 flavor wise!!! All of us agreed that it was not too too sweet which made it the perfect cake! Cute little shop on the main drag of Roanoke. It feels like a cozy space at granny's house. I had several coffees and sweets and the desserts were all scrumptious and include a cake pop, cookie and brownie dipped in chocolate. My hot drinks were ok, I had an average Americano, below average cappuccino, and hot coco. There are a few reserved parking spots in the rear of the building and location is great. Recommend a treat but not a specialty coffee. read more

I love bakeries! Just not this one. This seems to be a Roanoke staple, but very few of the items are scratch made. The pineapple upside down cake was just Duncan Hines yellow cake mix. The cake balls were also box made as well. Customer service was good. I can say that much. read more

What an amazing bakery! I truly found a gem when I stumbled upon Mugs. They made my son's 3rd birthday cake and not only was it beautiful but it was absolutely delicious! They were able to accommodate my request with 3 weeks notice and they were reasonably priced. The cake was moist, the filling was yummy and the icing was the perfect amount of sweet. Customer service was amazing. The offered my son a free cookie while I discussed the details of his cake. Everyone was SO sweet. read more

My husband and I had our simple, intimate wedding ceremony on August 17th, 2024 with only parents and siblings in attendance. A couple weeks before our wedding, we went into Mugs Cafe & Bakery to inquire about a small wedding cake. We simply mentioned that our color scheme was shades of blue and otherwise gave the artists free reign to design the cake however they wanted. We decided on lemon and raspberry cake with buttercream frosting. Boy, were our expectations exceeded! The cake was a total HIT -- absolutely GORGEOUS and DELICIOUS! Everyone loved it. We had more than enough to serve our group of 14. The price was very reasonable, especially for the high quality! The employees at Mugs were so kind and helpful and clearly went above and beyond to make sure our cake was perfect for our special day. We highly recommend this company! read more

As many times as my family has made the trip to Oak Street for lunch and dinner I had not stopped inside Mugs. So that's why I decided to yesterday! We finished eating at Los Molcajetes and wanted something sweet to take home for later. I walked inside this cute shop and definitely found something to hit the spot. Chocolate dipped brownies, yes please! They had minis as well which I grabbed for my kiddo to enjoy. I also snagged a caramel Apple tart to share. Thank you for a pleasant experience! By some stroke of luck, I stumbled upon this adorable mom and daughter-owned bakery and it was the best decision I made for my friend's birthday cake. The mother and daughter were so sweet and accommodating, even though I came in 30 minutes before they closed. They had one last small red velvet cake and they happily wrote a message on it. When we took the first bite, it was like heaven in our mouths. I couldn't believe how delicious it was! From now on, this will be my go-to bakery for all my sweet treats. read more

Walked in to see the pastry selection--dismal. Have been unable to find a bakery cafe worthy of my business in this area. Nothing in Keller or Roanoke or Southlake. (I am spoiled living in Austin and normally disappointed with the food options here when visiting family. Far too many fast food, cliche sports bars, and Mexican restaurants.) read more

Cute little bakery downtown Roanoke. I purchased several treats (2 cup cakes, mini cheesecake, strawberry pop cake, and a pecan triangle). The cupcakes were ok tasting. The butter cream they used on the cupcake was actually good, wasn't too sweet.. just right. But other than that the cupcake wasn't moist, and tasted ok. The strawberry pop cake was just awful. It didn't taste anything like strawberry, and had a bad after taste. It was a bit pricey for small items. I ordered a cake that had to travel about 4 1/2 hours south the same day I picked it up. When the bakery found out that I was traveling with it they called me to discuss how to get it to my destination in one piece. They were so wonderful and making sure the to do's and not to do's and I successfully had a beautiful cake that not only survived a long trip but was not presented for 2 more full days. 5 stars for having ginormous chocolate covered strawberries! This place was cute! lots of detail, lots of sweets and lots of options to choose from. I opted for the large chocolate covered strawberry with sprinkles and was so pleased I had dreams later that night that I'd gone back for strawberry #2. Decor was cute and quaint although I didn't like the fact the little mason centerpieces had old dingy water that needed refreshing...but everything else seemed to be pretty neat including the owners mug collection on the wall. read more

We actually were out doing some sight seeing of "Old Town" of Roanoke. The city has really worked at revitalizing the historic part of the city by expanding the businesses into the historic buildings adding various restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and other small independent businesses. The trendy spot offers a variety of beverages and homemade pastries. The business also provides cakes for special events from Weddings to birthday cakes. The do have an issue during "peek" hours with parking. Things can get full rather quickly but the area is safe and offers some off street parking. I too noticed a couple of reviews that received some negative comments. My experience could not have more different. I encourage you to give them a try and I look forward to hearing about your experience. read more

Came buy after having a lack luster lunch at a near by establishment. The shop is nice and quaint, minimally decorated. The selection of baked goods was not too impressive. Maybe because it was a little late in the day. My main objective was to go and buy a chocolate cupcake to indulge in, but they didn't have any. Only vanilla and red velvet. We bought some mini cheesecakes, cake balls, a cherry, almond and chocolate tart and some sort of caramel apple bar. The mini cheesecakes were a little too cake like in texture for me. The cake balls, too doughy and mushy, but they were cute. The tart was dry. The only good item was the caramel apple bar a little too sweet but pretty good compared to everything else we bought. I'm always down to support small local businesses, so just a nice little place to stop by, but not overly impressed. read more

Stopped by the bakery two days prior To a birthday party where I needed a cake to be done with a champagne theme...may I just say they "nailed it"! We are so happy with the strawberry, 2 tiered cake Mugs made for our daughter's 1st Birthday. It was a Minnie Mouse themed cake (6" & 8" rounds) & not only did it look great, but it was moist, fresh and delicious! It sure was a crowd pleaser. Not taking enough covid precautions... Let me start by saying I've ordered cakes from Mug's several times. They are always delicious, beautifully decorated, and the staff is always kind and friendly. That being said, I picked up a cake today and was very disappointed that all three employees present in the shop were not wearing masks or gloves. It seemed as if no precautions were taken against covid. I love to support small businesses during this challenging time, but also expect some level of care will be put into avoiding the spread of coronavirus. I would not feel comfortable ordering from here again unless more safety measures are employed. read more

Went to this place for a cappuccino while waiting for a table at babes. I am so happy that they have this adorable coffee shop here. The cappuccino was pretty good, about average, but the service was really great and the location was nice and clean. Their desserts looked absolutely amazing, if we had not been waiting for our dinner I would have loved to try one. I work close by here so I am hoping to come back! I just wish they were open on Sundays, that seems like a bit of a bummer to me that they're not! read more

Mugs Bakery was established in Roanoke, TX in April of 1996. We specialize in European style pastries. We also offer an array of amazing desserts and cakes. Mugs bakery got it's name from Kim Chabot, the owner, who has been collecting coffee mugs from the late 70's. You will find the walls lined with coffee mugs from all over and each one is special and has a story. This unique spot also doubles as a lunch and coffee shop. They serve a variety of hot/cold drinks as well as sandwiches. Come visit Mugs Cafe and Bakery in the unique dining capital of Texas!

Meet the Business Owner: Kim C.

Kim found her love for baking in her home economics class in high school. She attended baking school to fine tune her skills. Kim has been in the bakery/catering industry since j1978! In 1996 she moved from Washington to Roanoke, TX. It was on April 1st, 1996 that Kim had her first day open as Mugs Café and Bakery. She decided to open her own business and call it "Mugs" due to her extensive coffee mug collection. She hung all the mugs on the walls of the shop totaling over 500! In October of 2014 she changed location to 103 N Oak Street, the heart of the Unique Dining Capitol of Texas!

You won't be disappointed. When a independent place like breakfast Club 51 has so many 4-5 star reviews, it is a good restaurant. If you don't have a good dining experience, talk to someone. Remember every one has a bad day. Going once, then leave a bad review & " I won't back statement" is bad form, in my opinion. Be kind, give them another chance, talk to manager/server etc. My experience started when they opened the doors early bc it was 45 degrees out side & I was 10 minutes before opening. Everyone was great & attentive.
