I am a girlie from SoCal and I LOVE coffee. I married a stellar Allegan guy, and every time I come to visit his family, I NEED to make a stop at Mug Shots (maybe twice. or three times). Missy is amazing--she is a friend of the family and always remembers my order. She also always makes sure she has GF oatmeal cookies in stock. YUM! My brother and sister in law love their sandwiches, too. The vibes are also great--cozy, hometown coffee shop. The patio is beautiful in the summer. Ok Allegan, you have a sweet little coffee shop! We stopped in to get a hot chocolate for the kids, not expecting much, and what a sweet surprise we found in Mugshots! The staff are great, the menu is wonderful, and the setting is gorgeous. The outdoor deck area is quite enchanting with two seating levels surrounded by trees and greenery. I love this little coffee house. I met up with a friend of mine here after wanting to visit since last spring. I really love the updated, clean atmosphere. The building itself is old and has a lot of character, but inside has enough seating for several groups including a patio area for the warmer months. They have several sugar free options for coffee flavors as well as milk alternatives, perfect for anyone with dietary restrictions or trying to eat better. Soups, salads, and sandwiches are the options for food, pretty standard for a coffee shop. I had the chef salad, which was a huge portion for $7. Such an amazing location! Great place to meet up with friends! I just moved to Allegan and was desperate to find a good cup of coffee in this tiny town. I didn't find it. I really wanted to like this place but the coffee was lukewarm and was mediocre at best which is unfortunate. I had a vanilla latte and my husband had a cortado. We just moved from Minneapolis and maybe we're spoiled by the awesome coffee we had there but since this spot is the only real option in town, you might want to run an inservice with your staff on how to improve the overall taste of your coffee so that it doesn't taste like low quality powder vanilla in watered down espresso-ish fluid. read more

I like mugshots. Their iced lattes tend to taste a lot like plain coffee, and are quite overpriced, but if you're looking for a speedy cup or meal I definitely recommend. This is my favorite coffeehouse by far! I really wish we had a mugshots back home and it will be really upsetting to never get this again (unless I have a reason to come back to Allegan). I've been in Michigan for work recently and really wanted to avoid going to Starbucks at all costs so I found this coffeehouse down the street! The inside is beautiful and I could definitely see myself relaxing inside working on something or reading a book! The employees are EXTREMELY kind and actually remembered me after my first visit! I even bought one of their thermal mugs to support and remember them by (insert sad tear). They also have amazing prices! When you buy their coffee thermal mug every refill is only ONE DOLLAR. Can't beat that at all! They usually have 6 coffee flavors that you can readily choose from if you just want to keep it simple but you can add plenty other options to it like syrup (even unsweetened sugar free which I enjoyed). We have used Mug Shots three times for catering and they have never disappointed us. Their food is absolutely delicious. They are on time and set a beautiful buffet table. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is great. We enjoy dining at the restaurant also. Food and drink are quickly served and the quality is excellent. I highly recommend this place. read more

I've been a fan of Mugshots since they opened their doors. I haven't been by for a while though and that's only because my daily schedule has changed a bit. However, a friend recently told me Mugshots makes killer gluten free cookies. I was in need of a few for a visiting friend. I was also told they fly off out of the dessert case quickly so I decided to stop in and make a special order. Corina was very accommodating and the next day I picked up a half dozen of the chocolate chippers. Knowing next to nothing about gluten free food I didn't expect much in the way of texture or flavor. Boy, howdy, was I wrong and totally surprised. I was so happy I got 6 of those babies. We sent 3 home with our friend and kept the rest. Double hummers! Thanks, Mugshots. Favorite coffee shop ever! Staff is always super inviting, and if you have questions on a menu item they'll gladly explain it in great detail. All the names of coffee are famous mobsters, or some kind of slag word from the 20s. It revolves a lot around 1920s Chicago era. And I absolutely love it! I usually get The Doll, but since it was the day before Christmas I decided to get something a little more festive, so I got The Eggnog Latte. Super fantastic! In the little town of Allegan there are gangsters but only at this place which inspired the name. The classic Americano I ordered was a good effort with decent strength. Mug Shots seating area is not overly crowded so drink/ food can be enjoyed. Out back is a pleasant view of trees to take in.
